  • cool sarbanoxley i'l try out the oil this month once I get the bike stability fixed (bent handle bar and front wheel is out)..btw I was thinking of putting the f16 handlebar rather than the stock...advisable?

    • @racoon Here is what i do before i take the bike in the morning.I depress the clutch
and use the kicker @ least 10 times. Then pull the choke lever and let the bike idle for 10 sec..Then return the choke lever to normal position but keep the bike idling for another 2-3mins.Then for the 1st 2 kms gear changes @4000RPM i keep it below 5K.Then i dont have to say what happens next.It wont go to even 101km/hr the first time i let the engine run @ these speed for a couple of kms then it touches the max mark when ever i want-no problem.Thats why i asked.

About the FZ16 handlebar no idea mate.Is your bike still under warranty??

how old is ur bike(odo reading)? how old is ur spark plug? what's ur idle rpm? what engine oil and what petrol do u use? did u ever feel that after filling petrol from a particular pump ur bike statred a bit easily?

The bike is just 2 years old..odo is reaching 10000...thing is when the tank is full its easier to start but once it reaches about 30% not only does it becomes a pain to start early in the morning but also seems to misfire ocassionally when revving up from a low rpm while in motion...idle is 1500rpm..I have done everything in the last service..engine flush, decarbonisation, chain treatment etc..The only changes I have made to the bike is the tyres. I'm using these TVS Jumbo tyres which are more made for offroad riding will post pics with the numbers later today I can't remember it right now (120 back and 90 front but forgot the rest).

              • ^^^Hmm, seems there might be some problem in your petrol tank cap. Just try this once - keep the cap open slightly and then see if the problem occurs. Also, have you checked if your tank is clean (& fuel filter) is clean? Also consider having your carb cleaned and checked.

Why on earth do you have to do flushing, decarb and all?? And that too at just 10,000 km???

How do you find the grip of the TVS Jumbo tyres... in wet and dry?

                • oh the flush well ...I forgot to put oil/service my bike for 8 months and what was left was some gunky stuff....my horn has stopped working and this local mechanic asked me what the hell I was doing to the bike. so anyways he put oil in the bike..1 week later I went to the service center and the guy there asked me what I was doing to the bike and that the cbz uses some other kind of oil and not to put any crap into the bike...so I got it flushed and the "recommended" oil put.

                  • Rather than use dubious flushes, use an oil with a v high detergency, for sometime... like Delo 400. 2nd best would be some oil made for Diesel engines (preferably also for petrol). Another, possibly milder option would be to just use HH Idemitsu or Gulf Pride (10W30) oil for a short while... hopefully it will become really dark quite quickly as the detergency is used up. Then just drain it and refill with the same...

                    • The tyres are ok I guess..tube tyres not tubeless and while they are supposed to be great for offroad and dirt...so far i'v braked hard both on water and on loose gravel/sand and while it does slip a little the grip still catches and leaves me in control. Here are some pics of my bike:

                      • Oh my god 8 months without servicing,no oil.
This is what i would do with that bike:
1)Take the bike to the nearest Castrol bike zone.
                        2)get their GOLD service done.
3)Buy castrol power 1 racing and fill it.
                        4)Get the oil filter replaced.
5)I would replace even the air filter.
6)Front suspension oil should be chanaged @10000kms i would do that too.
4)get the spark plug replaced immediately(preferebly the performance thing like ngk or something experts here will guide u on that subject)
4)get some kind of good chain lubes(motul brand has one) and apply it every week.
Castrol bike zone has this device for the chain when the manager gave me a guided tour when open looked like some kind of medieval torture devic.do make sure they use it .

BTW is your top speed affected due to the 120 section tyre in the rear.
                        how about the pickup hmm??

                        • hmmm where is castrol bike zone in mumbai? and yes the top speed and pickup have gone down..It goes smoothly till about 90, on the older tyre it used to hit 100 easy and then slows down..still touches 110 but not for long the needle swings like its having a midlife crisis.

I'd tell u the same as Racoon said. use a good oil for a few hundred KM's and flush it. if required, repeat this for second fill too.

Next, get ur carb and fuel lines cleaned. Change the spark plug. u anyway needed to change the plug around the 10K mark.
