Currently I have Yamaha Gladiator 2007 model with front disk. I am happy with its performance and I think its the best 125cc bike.
I was thinking that I will buy a 150cc Yamaha bike as my next ride. But current models of Yamaha dint impressed me. I need Performance, Quality and then looks.

      So planned to get Karizma and felt its pretty costly and cannot afford to its maintenance. Dint like Pulsar's & RTR's as they are not that reliable and I dont like vibrations at all. Then Suzuki GS150R - forget it I dint even bothered to think about it. I felt its huge and and the quality is not upto the mark. {Purely my opinion, no intensions to hurt anyone}

Narrowed down to best 150cc bikes Unicorn & Xtreme. I know these both bikes has many things in common. But wanted to hear a word from you guys. Two of my friends has Unicorn 3rd Gen and 4th gen I felt that both of them are very nice. But sometimes I think why not Xtreme as I like the solid looks of it. So just want to know if Xtreme is as smooth as Unicorn & Handling is as good as Unicorn.

I dont want to start any brand war here. Just wanted to get a honest feedback from you guys. And this is going to be my last bike. I am planning to gor a car after this bike.

      Thanks in advance friends.
Its a bit funny that you don't like the Yamaha 150s at all, but Hey, to each his own!
Since you have narrowed down on these, why don't you wait a bit to see what the new Unicorn/other 150 from Honda looks like?
If you are going for it immediately, I would suggest CBZ-X, as it is a more fun to ride bike than the Uni anyday. Its engine being Uni derived, refinement is just the same.

            • Engine Oil & Additives

Guys please suggest a good engine oil for my cbz. I ride both on streets and highways . Recently completed 6k on the odo after 11 months.
Also, are there any additives that can result in performance increment?

Thanks, I checked both the threads earlier but actually was quite confused.
After all the readings i found out that Motul 300v is the best, unfortunately the specified rated one(FL 5W40) is not available in my city.
Worried as i have completed only 6k and used the stock oil that the HH SVC guys put in.

                  • The option in Fully Synthetic is: 1. Petronas Sprinta 5000 4T(10W40), 2. Agip Racing 4T(5W40), 3. Motul 300V 10W40 and 5W40 (probably not available in India). You can also try, Castrol Power 1 Racing 4T 10W40.

But it is always recommended that you should stick to the viscosity rating provided by the manufacturer and that is: 10W30.

You can use Castrol Power 1 10W30(900ml) OR Gulf Pride 4T 10W30(900ml).
Castrol Active 4T is also avaiable in 10W30.

In my HH Hunk, I need 1.2Ltr, so I purchase 2 Cans. Please consult your owners manual.
                    Move on.........

                      2 reason's

1)My Exide battery is leaking badly and spoiling my bike

2)Stock 7 ah battery performed poorly with my roots horn so i was forced to remove it and the stock horn useless in the highway

Yeah, I found that funny too, coz only bikes with kick start take 2.5aH batteries. Why don't you contact them? They will surely be able to provide you the right model for your bike-I'm trusting they will have one.
And yeah, Exide has a so called maintenance free battery, but it is NOT a sealed type, just a low maintenance type one. Amaron is completely sealed.
I have faced the same leakage&swing arm corrosion problem with my older battery&know how it feels. Go for a sealed one this time. Complete peace of mind.

My Hunk was using 7ah battery, I have replaced it with Amaron 9ah(cost:Rs.1800). The performence of that battery is really awesome. Its a gelcell battery, so you don't need to top-ups, no lekage(its a sealed battery and no drain pipe required) and the charging is really fast. Just use it.
But the problem you may face while installing the battery, because this 9ah battery is bigger in size then the stock one. Before installation please check whether you have enough room to fit that one. I had to remove the soft sponge in the upper and lower side of the battery compartment and bent the clamp a bit to accomodate the 9ah battery. But the real problem was to fix the side panel cover. However, I fixed it too. So, before installing just check if your bike is having enough room to fit a 9ah battery.
Another information, Amaron does not have a 7ah battery.

                          • @sarbanoxley: from where you have purchased the Motul 300V 10W40? How can I get it(if it is possible)? I had a talk with the regional manager of Motul in Kolkata, they informed me that they are not marketing the 10W40 in India.

Thanks, i think i will stick with Mineral 10w30 oils and go for either of the three.
I consulted some mechanics and shopkeepers

Yes i searched for Motul300v but unfortunately the dealers here do not stock it. Other ratings are available but not this one specifically.

                              • CV Carb

After a long time friends…. Personally I will say to do not play with carb. Always stick to the default carb setting and even never even let the service guy to put their hands on it for getting better mileage.

And the carb tuning methods ( setting at 3k RPM thentune blah blah ) you guys found on the net is a easy and vastly used method but not the perfect way to tune the carb. Each brand of carb has their different characteristic and different settings.

Like Bajaj Pulsar 180 UG III have Ucal-Mikuni BS29 Carb

A/F mixture Screw setting 2.5 +2 turns out
                                Main Jet 117.5
Jet needle clip 2nd from top Position
                                Pilot Jet 17.5

And the correct procedure of tuning this carb is :

Start and warm up the engine
                                • The oil temperature should be above 60 C. This can be achieved by running vehicle in top gear
at the speed of minimum 40 Kmph for 5 ~ 6 Kms.
                                • Adjust the engine speed to 1400 + 100 rpm with idling adjustment screw of carburettor.
                                • Adjust the CO with the A/F mixture screw. It should be in between 1.75 to 2.25 %
                                • Confirm the engine speed whether it is within 1400 + 100 rpm or not. When setting IdleCO %,
idle rpm and A/F mixture screw have to be adjusted together to achieve 2 % CO and 1400 + 100 engine
                                rpm.

And this requires a CO level check gadget. So all Hunk, CBZx, Pulsar have CV type carb but their manufacturers are different so the settings can be different a little . And the exact setting only can explain a Workshop manual of a specific bike. BTW you can try this in your bike also b’coz whatever the setting is the idle CO level should be same for all 150cc CV carb engine, I think.
