Check if you can source a Motul 5100 10w30 for about Rs 520+/ with JASO MA2 specs; it's a Semi-Synth.

      Hi !

My brother just bought a used CBZ Xtreme, 2 months old and 1750 kms on the odo.

He got the Bike manual/Booklet with it, which has all the 6 free service coupons intact, so I wonder that the bike hasn't been serviced at all. We both are in different cities so I can't take the bike to svc myself to get it serviced or to see the condition.

So I need a little help to help my brother, questions -

      1) What is the engine oil capacity & which engine oil should be used? (I use Motul on my RX & Duke both, so if any particular Motul Oil?)
      2) What are the parts to be changed during 1st or 2nd service. (By parts I mean like, air-filter or oil/fuel filter if any?)
      3) Any other precautionary measures as the 1st service of the bike by the 1st owner is mystery.

      Thanx in advance !!

      Cheers

Well , if it hasnt been serviced yet then say him to take down bike to svc at once , as oil should be changed at 500kms then 1000 likewise. Only oil is changed and air filter is cleaned along with washing bike nothing else . Extreme uses 900ml if just drained and 1L if drained by tilting bike to sides .

Use hero 10w30 oil made by tide water company or savita till 5-6000kms at least changing on 1000kms .

The make of oil can be checked on back label of oil bottle .

Do a proper run in for 500kms more , procedure can be searched in this thread and do proper maintenance it will serve him well

Engine oil capacity is 900 ml on draining and 1.2 l when clutch cover is removed.
You must use the oem hero 10w30 grade oil for atleast 3000 kms. After that you can change to any brand but always keep the 10w30 grade.
Nothing need to be changed on 1st service except engine oil.
Since bike is never serviced you should immediately change oil to hero oem and clean the oil cenrifugal filter. Also do regular service works like chain adjustment and lubing, brake adjustment, Carb tuning etc. Thats only needed now.

yes you are 100% correct. i used shell 10W40, the same issue i face except i dint have any cold start issue. the reason is 10W40 is little thicker than 10w30 and hence it strains the engine a bit. i switched back to 10W30 and now my Hunk retained its initial punch..!!

we cant say that it has been serviced just by looking the booklet, because i dint some free service without entering in the book itself..!!

I am planning to try 10w30 full synthetic for my xtreme . I need to drain out every drop of the old mineral oil and cleaning out the oil filters. what other oils did you try ? Did you try motul 10w30 semi synth ?

Fully synthetic are waste for xtreme and hunk. For the price of a good fs oil you can buy 3 cans of mineral oils and can change at 1500 kms otherthan stretching a fs oil for 6000 kms. Fs tends to vapourise quickly and need regulars topups which is another bomb on pocket[emoji12]

i dint try motul...i tried castrol,shell...but same problem with 10w40, so i switched back to stock though i heard gulf oil 10w30 is also a better choice.
one thing is if you use other synthetic oil, the gasket in cylinder top may get corroded (atleast every 500 kms), due to blended ingredients. stock one is most suitable and will not have any issues.

Now the damping is smooth of front shockers. Before the service it had started leaking a bit,and there was always a Kat sound when the bike hit any pothole or speed breaker.
Now the sound is gone, and smooth ride throughout.

Mileage constantly getting 40-45 within city with 60+ speeds. Will increase if ride it in the range of 45-55 kmph.

There is something which is strange, when riding at low speeds the handle seems to be heavy and a littlebit inclined towards one side, but at speeds above 60kmph it is quite free,Can anybody comment on what problem i m facing.

I have tried following engine oil in my Xtreme,

Motul 3100 10W30 (2000KM) -> I thought this oil wil make my Xtreme happy, but the end result i got was different. I dont know whether i got original or any duplicate , but the oil felt so pathetic. Full of vibrations and engine catches heat easily.

Shell 10W40 semi synthetic(1000KM) -> This oil helped my Xtreme engine to reduce the heat to some extent. But as people said here, somehow i felt acceleration was not same as before. I used this oil only for 1000 KM, because stupid ASC guys even after informing them not to change oil, they have changed it .

OEM Hero oil is actually good, but engine gets roughness easily. I was always in assumption that whenever i have a drive more than 5 KM, engine gets heated and roughness starts. This happens whenever i use OEM oil.

AFAIK, Original front brake pads costs 350/- and aftermarket products such as ASK (which I'm currently using since last year) costs between 80-100 bucks.
                              Please get this checked.

                                1. I am due to change my rear tyre and have shortlisted the following: CEAT Zoom/Vertigo or Dunlop Monster/Geo Cruiser in the profile 100/90-18 OR 110/90-18. You can check these.
                                2. Veedol 10w40 Super Swift - go for it with eyes closed. Best oil for summers. Or 10w30 4T Super Premium also from Veedol.
                                3. Lubricant for the chain - Best SAE90 Gear Oil. I have been using this as a lubricant for eternity and works like a charm. Always keep your chain clean and lubed. You'll be surprised how much performance improvement you can get by just keeping a clean and lubricated chain.
