      He also had a gase of leaking gasket (in turn engine oil) due to the inner screw's threading giving way. Both the times the engine head was opened up&the problems were rectified FOC under warranty by HH SVC&now his bike runs like brand new. No side effects whatsoever.
      Go to HH, they are well trained to identify these problems&will do a good job. Try to get it done under warranty, state some reason for not availing the last free service-the paid services are not mandatory for warranty claim. There is also a goodwill warranty, that is if the period is slightly more than 2 years since purchase of the vehicle.
      In the worst case, i.e., they do not accept warranty claim, still I say pay for it&get it done, it will not cost you more than Rs.1500&peace of mind will be guaranteed after that. You can go back to them anytime if you feel they have not done a perfect job. But I doubt if you would need to do that.
      The manual say's all the free service+ 8 paid service mandatory... only then i can claim warranty.I even lied to them that i have lost my Manual .If it cost's just Rs 1500 like you said then it wont be a problem.Yeah the mech told me too that the bike will stall if i keep on riding with a bent valve.

      Get it checked under your surveillence.
      Yeah will do that.

How is the idling?

      Most probably, it is an issue of carbon built up in the head, wrong timing due to slipping timing chain or screwed CDI. I have read here and some more, about heavy carbon built up in Unicorn piston/head chamber.

      My idling is normal.About the carbon build up....maybe that's why the tuner said he has to open the engine.I hear rattling noise from the head ( timing chain?)

      The local HH sc is useless(they dont even know how to set the tappet right).My other option is to take the bike all the way to chennai(over 90kms from my place).Any good HH SC in chennai u guy's recommend .

      • If Idling is normal, then the pressure is not leaking even at low rpms. So, valve leakage is a dim possibility.

        A mechanic can easily tell the timing chain noise just by hearing it and differentiate it easily. He can also diagnose tappet noise easily and set it right. For both of it, he need not open the head.

        Now, for rattling sound from the head, it can be one of the following:

        (i) valve hitting piston (which can be checked only after opening the head). But more important would be the cause which let it happen in the first place like bad camshaft or timing chain or chain tensioer;
        (ii) Valve hitting the seat violently (maybe , one of the camshaft lobe has given way and camshaft need replacement);
        (iii) CDI malfunctioning and firing much earlier creating cumbustion rattle where the expanding gases work on piston against its normal motion;

        Only a good mechanic can check. Do tell us what was the real cause ?

              You find that list of things to be done in the manual book on flip side of the Frist free service sheet.

              It will be mentioned on all the service sheets available in the manual.

                            Higher the RPM goes..lesser the Mileage!
                            Best RPM to get best mileage is 3500RPM...A standard CBZ Xtreme Which is well maintained and tunes will give around around 50kmpl at 5000RPM...speed..err i dont remember excatly...but its around 60kmph...It has been around 2 months I have even sat on a stationary bike

                            • Mine is a Panther black HUNK (december '09), clocked over 11k kms and the best mileage i've achieved so far was 59.7kmpl. the bike was a gift from my dad. I'm Using motul fully synthetic oil and the bike is extremely smooth. the standard zappers on the rear lack grip. the gear shift woes can be rectified by adjusting the shifter a bit. my bike does a 0-60 in 4.7 secs and has done 119kmph on the speedo. march 29th '10 met wit a major accident and the entire frame was replaced. bike's characteristics remain unchanged through all the repairs. My ex- girlfriend used to love the comfy seats and also the raised seating.
