CBZ xtreme / Hunk

As you know, both these bikes are totally the same, except body panels. Earlier the suspensions were different, now that too the same. Both weigh the same. So any feeling of difference should be psychological. As far as my experience goes, I find both identical, but like to ride the Hunk a tad better as it gives a big bike feel with those shrouds, as opposed to the sleek feel of the xTreme. (or may be coz I own oneOriginally posted by Royzone View PostHad a test drive of both HUNK & XTREME.
The Hunk they had for test drive had idling problem so was getting cut off frequently, so couldn't enjoy much. It felt heavy in slow speeds.
The Xtreme on the other hand felt quite nimble but there where vibrations at higher RPM.
What is not clear to me is that since both has the same engine, I was expecting same smoothness from both, so I would like to ask those who have driven both to give their views. Also what is the mileage of these two under city riding condition and what about the availability and cost of spares? Would be buying either of these two or pulsar in 2 weeks.

Selection between the two is based purely on aesthetics.MOTORCYCLING IS AS MUCH ART AS IT IS SCIENCE

I'm using castrol power 1 10w30(part synthetic) in cbz xtreme. i need to top up the engine oil, is it safe to top up with Valvoline Champ 4T 10W30(synthetic blend). Will there be any harm as the both engine oils get mixed?First think you are special then work towards proving it.

Test drive bikes normally are not used properly, some mechanics use it for personal purpose, some test drivers will rip, so we can't conclude anything from new test drive bikes as they have not gone through delicate run-in. If you test drive the same bikes at different shops they feel different, just give a try. HMSI gives sometimes give old bikes for test drives, I recently found dazzler had lot of vibrations on the handle bar, but on close inspection I found the handle bar on left was slightly bent indicating it was dropped by some test driver. So I suggest you to test drive at different location, if poosible ask for brand new bike from a friendly dealer.Originally posted by Royzone View PostHad a test drive of both HUNK & XTREME.

Alternatively you could borrow ride from your friends or colleagues..
Mileage : Both will return about 45+kmpl, way upto even 55kmpl
Availability of spares : same question could be asked to every manufacturer, I am sure the answer may be inconclusive. An HH super stockist will normally have all parts all the time.
Cost of spares : HH spares quite reasonable considering the quality of spares.

Would have considered your suggestion had the waiting period of unicorn not been 70-90 days and that of dazzler ~45 days.Originally posted by sarbanoxley View PostDrop both of them and go for the Unicorn
.
By the way I thought Dazzler & Xtreme are similar in performance apart from the mono suspension.
Thanks for your views. I test rode the older version of Xtreme (by old I mean one without digital speedo) as the newer version has not arrived yet in the showroom. Personally I prefer the handling, smoothness and performance of a bike over other things ( read digital gizmos, split seats, side fairings and all). After reading in net that the NEW Xtreme would be 6 kg heavier than the existing version I thought of hurrying my purchase as I fear the new one may not be as good in handling as the existing one.Originally posted by sooraj_vs View PostAs you know, both these bikes are totally the same, except body panels. By the way Hunk is 3 kg heavier than the existing Xtreme and I could feel that at low speeds.
Thanks for your detailed answer brother. I would check on my dealer for availability of spares.Originally posted by vipin_s View PostTest drive bikes normally are not used properly, some mechanics use it for personal purpose, some test drivers will rip, so we can't conclude anything from new test drive bikes as they have not gone through delicate run-in. Are you sure..? Where does that come from..? The website says 149 kg, same as the previous one.Originally posted by Royzone View PostThanks for your views. And regarding the 3 kg, that is least to bother about I would say. I mean, I don't even recognize a 3 kg difference in weight.MOTORCYCLING IS AS MUCH ART AS IT IS SCIENCE

I didn't know that.. Sorry.
Anyway, I would recommend you the new xtreme, iff you can cope with the weight factor, for that being the newest and hence the advantage of freshness. Choice is yours.MOTORCYCLING IS AS MUCH ART AS IT IS SCIENCE

Normally it is not advisable to pour Synth into non-synth, or Vice versa.Originally posted by anush View PostI'm using castrol power 1 10w30(part synthetic) in cbz xtreme. i need to top up the engine oil, is it safe to top up with Valvoline Champ 4T 10W30(synthetic blend). Try switching to 20w40 after draining old oil...Less heat, and smoother engine.

One is part synthetic and the other is synthetic blend i think both are same. So can i mix?
and i have heard that using higher grade oil will decrease performance what say?First think you are special then work towards proving it.

If you meant slow to rev as performance , then yes...but top end will not reduce, and bike is smooth throughout the RPM range...I had changed my ZMA engine oil from10w30 to 20w40, and found the bike to Rev a bit slowly..as compared to 10w30...but the bike became smoother and the engine heating came down even when I did continuous 110 on highway recently.Originally posted by anush View PostOne is part synthetic and the other is synthetic blend i think both are same. First time 80
i just did 80 kmph 1st time on my new hunk that is 500kms old. A short burst thou, just for a few secs. And it was as easy and quick and smooth as a little twist of my right wrist. Every thing was and is fine. Man it felt good
. After 450 kms i started a li'l rippin. As li'l as town ripping can be on main roads, not every day. Is it ok?

Yes it is ok...but remember a very important rule to follow..Never raise the RPM on a cold engine. After you start the engine let it idle for 30 seconds minimum, then drive slowly for the first kilometer at speeds within 50Kmph...or 1/3rd the Max RPM....after the engine is warmed up you can start to go at higher than 50Kmph. In cold condition you may have to drive for more than a kilometer at lower speeds for the engine to warm up.Originally posted by Cupid View Post
