Check your spark plug , I guess it may be sooty ... Idle rpm should be around 1000-1200 , check the correct value in your owner's manual . And no , your 80kmph run couldn't have harmed it one bitOriginally posted by Cupid View Post

What could be the problem??
This incident happened to my friend who had been to the nearest mac donalds which is around 65kms to test the top speed of his Cbz xtreme. While going he said he was on full throttle almost all the time and shifted gears at 8.5k rpm(perfect shift) and did not give any stop in between and reached a top speed of 120 and after reaching mac donalds he stopped for almost 1 hour. While returning he did that same style of riding and (after around 40kms) he was going 110 and got a slight slope and the rpm rose to almost 10k as if it was in neutral and the speed didn't increase a bit. My question is how could is happen? And his bike has run around 10k kms. And he has no problem below 110.First think you are special then work towards proving it.

Thanks to all. Just coming from the svc. They cleaned the plug and air filter, adjusted the air and idle rpm. I've to give it a rest to test if it is ok.
I would like to request the senior members here to teach novices like us (else only me
) the basic problems one can face from a new bike and their cause like starting problem, lean or rich mix (?), mileage, run-in, white or any smoke, little smoke, plenty of smoke, wet spark plug and so on. In a dummies way.

+1 its too hot here the 10W 30 is not holding up well...the gear shift becomes hard after 500Kms i did not like it at all.So took a risk and poured in gulf 20W 40...butter smooth gear shifts even after 300Kms the engine feels like its floating on amul butterOriginally posted by psr View PostNormally it is not advisable to pour Synth into non-synth, or Vice versa.

.On Castrol bike zone i saw a Xtreme that has done close to 40000Kms on 20W40 oil... the owner said it was fine he did not face any problem. I also asked the head mech if it was safe to use 20W 40 on this bike he said it wont do any harm to the engine

Running on is when the engine continue to run at higher RPM, WITHOUT acceleration, due either to advanced ignition leading to pre-ignition, or when you are on top gear on a downward slope, when you close the throttle the bike will continue to maintain the RPM and speed due to the slope and gravity.Originally posted by sooraj_vs View Post@ psr

This is more prominent in my car than bike. Infact the bike's engine has got good engine braking.
once the throttle is closed, some serious amount of resistance is offered. Guess this is bcoz the engine is new.
