That is not there now. I have yet to do a plug chop and see if the sparks are running ideally or other wise. I will check the milage once i fill up next time.
    Which Silencer are you using?

Which short bottle? Free flow or with baffles or with glasswool?

Did a plug chop on bike with the old plug (running for around 3000 Kms) and on a new one after fitting K&N.

Indications were that the bike was running super lean after installing K&N. I have notched up the Fuel Screw up by 1/2 rotation on the carb before starting for office...and my..does the bike fly. The sound of exhaust has become even more gruntier...Waiting to do a chop this weekend too.

Short bottle from RE. No glass wool/free flow. I hate the loud noised those make. The one from mine has a sweet note.

What is the mileage you are getting?

So this silencer has baffles inside I think?

              Re: Mods

Yeah, the silencer has baffles. It is the original RE short bottle. Mileage I have yet to see. I want to fine tune the carb first. I will check the mileage next.

OK do update us. BTW do you know the internal structure of the silencer?

I did a qtr screw and half screw turn. The sparks are still coming out super white and clean. I have now turned the screw one full turn frm original position. Hope that helps.

You mean to say from completely closed position you have turned the A/F screw just one turn out? . If yes then your bike is running super lean

                          Re: Bullet Electra Twinspark (UCE)

I have taken the first mileage reading post K&N fitting. I am getting aroun 35 KMPL in city. The mileage is not bad considering that I have a short bottle silencer and a rear 3.5 tyre and the fuel flow is higher than before when the stock paper element air filter was used. Probably if someone fits K&N on a stock bike he would get more mileage.
Also between the time I have taken the reading for, I have ridden bike between 90 and 100 couple of times, stuck in heavy traffic and gunned the bike down for short stretches. Not bad i guess, not bad at all!!!
Only thing that remains to be done is to take a reading of the spark plug now.

That's a very good mileage actually. I get 35 in city with stock air filter but I have also put Short bottle silencer and cat-con removed

You did not tell me, at turn is your fuel screw at present from bottom end position ?

I have not done a complete closing and re-opening of the carb (retuning). I just rotated the screw one full turn anti-clockwise from the original position. Also I adjusted the idle to get an optimum RPM when stopping in traffic.

                                Re: Bullet Electra Twinspark (UCE)

Last sunday, I decided to open the engine to clean the primary sprocket, but new gaket and oil change. The attempt was successful but I found that two of the bolt holes- the oil plugs and one of the smaller bolts connecting the cover with main flywheel case, have almost lost their threads and the bolts were not getting tightened. But the procedure gave me enough confidence that i can strip down an engine and put it back together again if given right tools. Executed the following steps:
                                1. Removed Electrical Connections" Light nudge with the screwdriver unlocks the connection of the alternator to the main wiring system
                                2. Loosened the Footrest.
                                3. Removed the KickStart
                                4. Emptied Oil- that's when i noticed that the bolt came out with the metal winding- the thread of the bolt hole.
                                5. Removed RHS casing bolts one by one.

                                6. Cleaned all parts with Petrol first and then with Shellac Paint thinner- was careful to not to get this in contact with rubber parts. Shellac evaporates hence removing any traces of any other carbon based solvent.
                                7. Rubbed down the edge of casing on both bike and the open ones with a no. 3 sand paper (smooth), applied Silicon gen on each surface.
                                8. Placed the gasket over the crank case. There are holder on the shell to hold it. Let it set for some time.
                                9. Placed the remove shell over the crankcase with gasket and closed the same. Inserted the bolts. Screw the bolts in complete with hand. tighten each bolt with one turn each till are equally tight and in place. This is when the bolt hole with missing thread was discovered.
                                10. Closed the Oil plug. During tightening I discovered the worn bolt hole here too.
Following this I had tightened the foot rest and placed the kick start. And called my friend and the bike's dr. . He gave me the bad news as anticipated. He adviced me to seal the oil plug with M-seal so that there is no oil leakage and bring the bike to workshop.

I took the bike today morning to the workshop. Before leaving I filled it with engine oil (I had sealed the oil plug previous night) and started the bike first time- the bike roared to life in first kick. I was please with myself on the work i had done but felt disappointed because of the issues I faced. I felt more confident with myself and the bike and a new found admiration for it.

                                Lessons Learnt:
                                1. wash your ride before you start getting creative to open it up, preferably from pressurized water service center . Otherwise dirt and muck will get in everywhere.
                                2. Keep a bottle of petrol or other cleaning agent handy.
                                3. Study the part which you want to open in details. Remove other parts in front of it which can obstruct the procedure- foot-rest, kick start in my case.
                                4. The RHS side of Bullet UCE twin spark casing has 10 bolts, 7 are of same size and 3 different. Even if you lose the order, the nuts are easy to place and tighten.
