Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Yeah i've been using motul for almost 4 years now but i've always changed it around 2500 km to 3k kms. I have used motul 300v and 7100. But the smoothest experience i had with motul 3100. I was just curious after how many km should i change oil. I drive 65 km per day.Originally posted by Joel Ashirwadam View Post

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Use 3100, that's what suits FZ-S. With such usage you better change the oil once every 2 months and oil filter every 4 months or every alternative oil change.Originally posted by Aakash Singh View PostYeah i've been using motul for almost 4 years now but i've always changed it around 2500 km to 3k kms. I've heard that 300v is for racing. Which requires much frequent change!--

Yeah 300v feels lighter on bike, and 7100 produces less heat fumes around engine but engine feels sluggish with 7100.Originally posted by Joel Ashirwadam View PostI've heard that 300v is for racing. Which requires much frequent change!

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
7100 and 300v would easily last 5+k km. Recommended interval for KTM bikes (7100 comes OEM) with a much more stressed engine used to be 5k km, which they pushed to 7.5k km now. Used to change 7100 at 4.5k km on both FZ and D390 on a safe side.
Yamaha now switched to 10W40 on all bikes except the commuter ones. Now using Yamalube Sporty Premium. Surprisingly good and VFM at 400 per liter and full synthetic. Used to change at 2k (Recommended 3k). Due to time constraints, could not change and crossed 3k km, no harshness or level drop so far (Anyway changing in a day or 2).
(Yamalube SL still comes in 20W40, but Yamaha recommends Optima Prime 10W40 for FZ series).#RetiredRider

Squealing sound coming from engine
I own a yamaha fz 16. She's been with me for abt 45k kms. Now my problem is that when ever i go above 5000 rpm range for a long time there occurs a squealing sound from the bottom side of the engine. It usually occurs after i rode a 10 to 15 kms. It happens also when i downshift too when the engine is hot.
Nb: For a year back my bike was with my brother and he drove her for about 8k kms with out changing the engine oil.
Plz help me... Really worried about whats going on with her.[emoji21]

Tire would fit, but acceleration would go for a toss in favor of better handling.Originally posted by Somesh1902 View Posthello guys,
i have 2009 fz 16,
i also have a spare tyre with me mrf revz c1
150/60 would the tyre fit or give any problems during cornering or so if i fit this in my bike.Motorcycling Experience:

The tyre itself will form a curved profile, it won't look as wide as it actually is.Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostTire would fit, but acceleration would go for a toss in favor of better handling.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
I am facing this issue everytime I change oil with oil filter. I went to ASC and they cleaned and reapplied the O-ring. But still I see oily surface around following parts:.
1.below oil filter bracket.
2. somewhere near to oil drain bolt - it seems oil leaking from the engine body itself.
Is there any proper solution to this?

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
1. Check the rubber-gasket on the oil filter cap. Most likely its not been tightened properly or the rubber gasket is leaking. Replace that if need.Originally posted by drmjp93 View PostI am facing this issue everytime I change oil with oil filter. I went to ASC and they cleaned and reapplied the O-ring. 2. Looks like the drain bolt has been cross-threaded or over-tightened. In any case check the crankcase for cracks. If the leak is minor then you can use plumbing tape around the drain bolt to temporarily seal the leak.Your pair of feet can tire you... Your pair of wheels can never tire you...
