Ok I own an FZ and here's my two cents on it. The manual says keep the rpm at and below 4500 for the first 600 km and below 6000 till you complete 1000 and then bike goes for its 1st service. 4500 in the 5th gear effectively is around 60kph for FZ. Most service center guys will ask you to ride at and below this speed before the 1st service. Also keep varying your speeds. Do not keeping riding at one speed and one gear hoping to find eternity. Take the engine through all its gears and different speeds under 60. This is somewhat rhythmic with the traffic around so it'll come to you naturally.

At 6000 rpm you are doing around 70 and a little above. If you are riding on highways you will be compelled to ride at over 60 kph because of other vehicles and the wide open roads. So try to keep highway rides to a minimum so that you dont jump this 60 kph rule too often. Dont rip it or try to check if it can attain top speeds that other FZ owners here have managed. They have done their bit of running in and then gone ahead so that can wait. Give the bike and yourself time get used to each other. Hope this helps.

It was anywhere between 40-45 for me and 30-35 for guys on commuters such as ct100 and the likes looking at the big tank and comparing it to their pot bellies. Honestly speaking i myself use it to commute to office and for every other kind of bike rides. So have not had the patience and kept a tab religiously. Like i said it has been 40-45 for me during the running in period. And currently 3000 kms down, i'm getting anywhere between 35 to 45 because of the more often hard riding.

I have read the manual, but it doesn`t anywhere mention the speed to be maintained, rather it has mentioned the engine speed....i.e under 6K RPM. 80% of my riding is highway, so it is quite difficult for me to maintain 40-45.But i did manage to keep the bike at 40-45 for the first 500 KM.

Anyway, thanks for trying to help.

Exactly my point. Also i'm not quite sure how much these mechs at Yamaha service centers know. One asked me to maintain the 60kph limit till 2000 km. Another said till 1500 km. While the manual mentions that after 1000 you can ride it 'normally'. I wonder how much qualifies as normally according to the company.

It is indeed difficult to keep the speed below 60 at highway let alone riding at 40-45. All i can say do your bit as much as you can. I tried riding it according to what the company has stated in the manual rather than going by the "do hazar kilometer tak 60kph se upar mat chalana" theory. At least you can feel content that you're not going wrong with the running in.

please write in detail about the overall ride experience till now.

it does mention some where on the right hand side. Do not go above 40-45 till 500 kms, after that you can go upto 60 till 1000 kms, after that enjoy

g first of all all u guys should only look at rpm and not kmph during running in .
read the manual carefully see that u shd not cross 4.5k rpm for 500k
i can do about 66kmph at 4.5 rpm in 5th so speed does not matter only rpm

if the battery goes kaput you're left with only one option....."dhakka" start it....

one thing tht's good about havin tubeless is tht if it'll get nailed, it'll be loosing air very slowly and will give you enough time to go to the next punture repair shop....
but in remote areas you wont find a guy who'll repair tht tubeless tyre.....
