Try switching to 20w50 for a change. Mineral one. I've used it in my brother's Unicorn and the shifts are much better than what it used to be. I've been using Castrol Activ 4T 20w50 post my free service completion. The shifts are much smoother and the engine purrs and most of the time the exhaust note is so smooth that you literally need to check the console to see if the engine is running. I can assure you for a fact that the false neutrals are not an issue with bike I'm using. I did face a bit on it while it was new. Currently 18k on ODO (purchased in 2016) and the shifts are really comfortable. Also, I have changed the stock Heel and Toe shifter in favor of the Toe Shifter from Hornet. I find that one easier to use during the highway cruise (which is what exactly I use the bike for, no city rides).

Would not recommend changing to 20w50 atleast for the winter period. Bike will take longer to get to optimum temp and will feel sluggish. Have tried the 7100 20w50 last summer for my mum-goa-hampi-hyd ride. Will not recommend it for long rides. Heat dissipation is slower due to high viscosity and overheating can be a concern. Works quite well for city rides. Since then am on shell 15w50 since I am using it only for city rides. plan to move to shell 10w40 fs for the winter. Had tried the ax7 10w40 after the 20w50 and it felt like water in hyd summer. So I intend to stick to 15w50 for summer.

Hi everyone, My unicorn 150 got seized at 24500 kms on odo. So I went for piston replacement and svc guys told me not to ride bike above 50kmph for another 5000kms. Now at 29000 kms when I tried to hit 80kmph, my bike felt like stalling and was about to stop. It felt sluggish and gear box also was not smooth. Even if I go above 60, the bike vibrates and takes lot of time to reach 80. Sometimes engine is smooth and sometimes engine is rough. Please guide me what could be the issue.

Damn! What did you do to get a Honda seized within the warranty range?

5000 km's is too much, the first 5~15 km's would do, if you're that worried you could take it slow for 500 km's, not more, being too gentle can mess up the bedding process.

As for the issue at hand, sounds like a carburetor vaccum piston issue, but before that do inspect your spark plug to get an idea of how your engine is performing, if all seems to be well then move towards getting the vaccum piston replaced.

Hi Ashwin. Thanks for responding. SVC guys told me that it was due to low engine oil. I was running with motul 300v fully synthetic oil for around 4000 kms and I did not check engine oil level as I thought synthetic oil will last longer. Since the bike has run 4000kms, I decided to service my bike. This time I made a mistake of giving my bike to private service center named bikecare. They put savsol 20w50 mineral engine oil. I think this is the reason my bike got seized. But I suspect that they must have done something else also.

While servicing did you observe how much quantity of motul 300v was drained. Was it close to 1 litre.

Ok, i also 10w 30 grade only. Can you suggest me a good 10w 30 grade oil for my hornet 160r.

To be on the safer side, its better to stick with honda stock engine oil 10w30 itself especially if you do not want to get your warranty voided. Even though honda oil does not offer performance like motul synthetic, it will not cause any engine trouble and it is the safest provided you replace it every 2000kms. Still if you want to try something else, use shell AX7 10w40 semi synthetic or motul 5100 10w30 semi synthetic. Do not use synthetic or other thicker grades like 20w40, 20w50 etc.. My suggestion is to stick to same engine oil of 10w30 or 10w40 grade.

Thumb rule is to stick to strict 2k change intervals.

Performance/Racing oil induce more wear and tear as that is the only means of extracting more performance from the motor, hence why I'd suggest you stick with regular oil.

Anyhow to start with resolving your current issue please post a picture of your spark plug.

Confused between the oil grades 10w30 ,w40 , 20w40 !! Many types synthetic, semi , mineral and many brands too.

Kindly say which is the best for any bikes and is the weather conditions matter for the engine oil ?
Summer /Winter , what's your experience/ thought ?

As for me, I go with the universal grade i.e 20W50 and change at 2k intervals.
