Did you get anything done? Compression can occasionally happen. I had it a couple of times few yrs ago but it sorted out on its own. Owned since 07'. If the mileage is high, usually the piston rings are the first thing to wear out. If the pistons and bore is fine, no need to replace them.

Weak compression can led to certain symptoms which can be checked.leakage of engine oil inside combustion chamber and then there geting it burnt.
These symptoms include oily deposits on spark plug,specially on its threads, and oily deposits at the end of exhaust pipe.
Do race the engine to about 6000 rpm and check for any smoke from the exhaust pipe.
If you have to rebore the bore then charges here in my city is rs. 50. I have seen personally a mechanic charges a guy 200 for the same ..

At times I have seen this effect on my Unicorn too. But I think there's nothing to worry about as it may be due to the bike sitting idle for a prolonged time and the clutch plates may be sticking together. Btw, my ride is a 7+ years old Unicorn with 55km on the odo.

Common issue for Honda engines of that era, same case with the ZMA.

Turn the motor every now and then and compression would return like magic.

You could pour oil down the SP window and then turn the engine a bit before replacing the SP, another enthusiast had suggested injecting oil into the SAI pipe leading to the exhaust valve, personally I've tried neither as the issue resolves on its own.

Hmm. I also experience the same once when my unicorn sits idle for longer periods . but no issues at all . going great still after 9 years..

Ya , its seems true to me. i think the lack of lubrication film between the cylinder and piston ,if the engine is not run for days , leads to the loss of compression ,though temporarily. And when the engine starts ,afterwards it will be ok.
Do correct me if am wrong.

Though that is the usual cause, in the case of these Honda's it is said to be due to the exhaust valve sticking open.

On my CT100B(No Decompressor), I loose compression if I leave the motorcycle unused for a couple of months, after a couple of kicks the motorcycle gradually regains compression, in the case of the ZMA there was no gradual regaining, it was either there or it just wasn't which leads me to go with the valve sticking open theory.

PSR sir would be the best person to reach out to as he was the one who brought clarity on this issue.

I am getting tic tic noises from my Unicorn engine . Mine has clocked 43K at the ODO . Looking to go on a long ride soon . Any good mechanic in Coimbatore city (Specialist for Unicorn) that you people can suggest. .. 1. Need a complete overhaul 2. Need new tyres for front 3. Back break's are just dead (I only hear screeching noises when I press hard) :-) . Need a paint job too . It's getting rusty at the frame and the tank has lot of scratches . Any good workshop in Coimbatore .

About the revving to 6k rpm idea, if the bike has been sanely ridden at the 5k rpm mark throughout, the deposits on the cat con will get pushed out when suddenly idle revved. This is a bad practice normally done by inexperienced mechs and they shouldn't be encouraged to stationary revv it. They also try to fleece people (specially if the owner looks like someone who can spend money) in reboring and the accompanying 10k rs job which comes with it. It has been tried on me with every new mech I have visited in the past 10 yrs. Agreed, occasionally all engines need to be revved to clear any clogs but it shouldn't be done when stationary. Best to find an empty stretch and wing it, provided there are no cattle and dogs in the vicinity. Consider jaywalkers as those too.

Don't you think it's a tad too early to go for a complete overhaul? Asking as my P220 has a similar odo read as your Unicorn and everything runs like clockwork in spite of my constant abuse.

At best you need to get the timing chain tensioner changed and the tappets reset I'd say.

Suggest getting the small stuff like tyres and brakes be taken care of. Don't wait for the time to find a good mech for the rest of the jobs. Spreading the preventive aspects over the course of a few months makes it easier financially. You will end up spending about 15k for what you have listed.

Some post 2010 uni's seem to need the overhaul around that mark. Have read quite a few of those. Probably due to quality reasons.

Well may be you are right. But running the engine at 5-6 thousand rpms for say 3-4 seconds in nuetral wont have any issues.atleast what i have experienced on my uni for over 9 years
Every morning i rev it for a short moment to check for proper throttle response ,(after warming a bit) , before puting load on a cold engine.
That way i enjoy the super smooth ride of my unicorn .

True from your point. It's too early. My story is different. Have not used this bike much . It's been ridden by my subordinates since I was away for long time and was using car due to work reasons . Now that I got a chance to get the rider in me back I wanted the same smoothness that I used to get before . She is been a queen for me when I was in control [emoji3] [emoji3] . That's the reason wanted to get her peped before I start again . Planning for a Goa rode soon by this month end. Need to get her ready before that . Will check for the timer chain . Thank you bro

Got it bro. Just thought that if it's a known mechanic it would be better . I have one in my street as well . He dose for all bikes but don't know about the quality of work

Can anyone suggest me a good clipon handlebars for our unicorn which is a direct fit with the stock tank and stock front fairing !

The main purpose of me changing the handle bars is am interested in changing the footrest brackets of hunk so that it gives me a better seating position .
