  • Aargee / bprags / Sarvajit,
Will the difference of 1 bhp make much of a difference? Thai CBRs are 1 bhp higher than Indian CBRs, right?

I weigh approx 80 kgs, and with my clothes, riding gears, shoes, helmet, it would definitely be more than 85 kgs. I've done 148 kmph (on speedo) on a straight (no slopes).

    • I too weigh 82kg and on my recent trip my weight incl my luggage(Rucksack+tank bag) was surely 100Kg+, yet top speed I achieved was 143kmph. So I dont think top speed and total weight are so intricately linked though in absolute terms weight will affect the top speed after a limit.

        Also confirm these...
        - Absolute flat surface (no riding down)
        - No wind or riding against the wind
        - Your RPM at 5th gear when shifting to 6th gear
        - How long did it take to reach 143 (just say less or more than 5 minutes)

Well that is the argument, I dont think 1 BHP is gonna make a huge difference to the top speeds, I believe @Sarvajit, has seen the top speed videos of @Aling, he is the guy who has posted the youtube videos, any idea about his weight?

I still strongly believe that the weight should not matter as far as top speeds are concerned, shift properly and the bike should do proper speeds, I am surprised by the 145 kmph top speed.

All you CBR owners should do a get together and clarify all these facts once and for all .

Note:- Why isnt anyone trying to get rid of the cat con in the CBR, now that would be a interesting mod. Does the R15 have one, any one tried getting rid of it?

I weigh 80kg and i managed to do 154kmph solo and 143kmph with a pillion (weigh=55kg) all on flat road without any noticible wind. I shifted from 5th to 6th @ 10.5krpm and i dont think it took anything like 5minutes.. Maybe around 2mins. All on the speedo. Top speed on gps was 137 when it showed 146 on speedo(again it was solo and a different ride)..

Well oil change is necessary only when the engine feel rough, otherwise one can keep running per the owner's manual.

Google for motoman method but don't follow that!!!

Ride through city OR have mercy on your wrists for first 500-750 Kms. Anything more is always good
Thanks, soon after i posted for Break in, i googled and found Motoman, but could not find it reliable.
Thru out first 300 km i avoided hard accelerationa and variable engine RPM. And Avoided 5K+, now i can try higher...
I found engine is not so smooth till 3.5 K RPM, is it ok?

Which is the best service center in Bangalore???

Yes it was flat road on NH-5, very slight cross wind and I shifted to 6th at 10k.
Regarding time I didnt make a note of it, but surely it was less than 5 mins, may be something like 2-3 mins max.

I must appreciate your accuracy in observations like 7000 RPM and 112 kmph, 6000 RPM and 96 kmph(On 6th Gear) My ride also returns same figures exactly.

Lolzzzz. Waiting for @aargee's reply for that. The thread is interesting now.
AFAIK weight factor don't effect the top speed but more weight will take lil more time when compared to less weight to reach the top speed i think.

It's quite good! Zeeshan and Sadham are the guys who work on the bike, and they are quite helpful. Also, every 1k kms, I get the chain lubricated, and the gear pedal greased as I find that they need attention due to constant riding in rain and muck.

I talk to them directly and get it done - saves all the time needed for the job card etc, and you can stand by your bike and watch while Zeeshan works on it.

There's one on Bannerghatta road too, but I'm not sure how good the guy is since it is a new place.

Yes, brake oils are different on ABS and Non-ABS bikes.
I guess one is DOT3 and other is DOT4.

I weigh about 87 odd kilos and the highest average speed (average of one way and back) I have gone is 145. Though on my last highway trip I couldn't cross 138.

By the way, without the fairing my bike feels pretty nimble and accelerates faster. Either that, or it's psychology.
