This is not necessary at all; you can ride even in 7K RPM in 6th gear. Just that never accelerate hard.Originally posted by sayhi2sai View Post
Well oil change is necessary only when the engine feel rough, otherwise one can keep running per the owner's manual.Originally posted by sayhi2sai View Post
Google for motoman method but don't follow that!!!Originally posted by saurabh81 View Post

Can anyone point me to a thread for more info on CBR stores in Chennai?
Hi, just got my CBR last week at Mansaroovar in Chennai. Wanted to know where guys in Chennai get their accessories like covers, tank pads, etc.
Not a website, but a place in Chennai where you can go and get?CBZ (99-2001)
Custom Bullet (2001-2002)
P180 (Parked)
CBR250R (Sept 2011.....)

Welcome to xBhp & pls consider posting an intro about yourself in the "Who Are You" section.
Not in Chennai; order from DSG Pune/BLR online or PRS Mumbai, atleast that's what most Chennaites do. And by cover, I hope you mean bike cover & not tank cover!!!Originally posted by baddass_indyan View PostWanted to know where guys in Chennai get their accessories like covers, tank pads, etc
Not that I know of any reliable shops in Chennai unless you might want to be in dilemma of genuiness after buying from G.P.Road!!!Originally posted by baddass_indyan View PostNot a website, but a place in Chennai where you can go and get?
A reliable source told me that the owner was able to do 160 on speedo & guess the weight...around 60!!! I'm yet to see anyone who weighs over 70-75 Kg, doing a flat surface without the help of wind doing 145+Originally posted by thefastestindian View PostI weigh 62 kgs. And it was on the nice ring road, Bangalore. More or less Flat stretch and yeah there were no crosswinds.Last edited by aargee; 09-20-2011, 12:21 PM.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

The topspeed of the Indian model appears to be lower than the Thai model.Originally posted by aargee View PostA reliable source told me that the owner was able to do 160 on speedo & guess the weight...around 60!!! What is the cruising speed of this bike? Can it maintain 120-130 without FE going down drastically?
R15 can maintain 120-130, but FE drops considerably, thereby indicating stress on the engine. When kept at around 7K RPM (peak power at 8.5K RPM), it gives almost 50kmpl.
Also do let me know what speed CBR does at 7K RPM-I guess that would be a good estimate of the cruising speed.
No doubt torque is very good in this machine with 23Nm IIRC.Quench my thirst with gasoline!

To be precise 48kmpl if kept at that speed continuously-others have reported 50 too. The bike does exactly 101kmph at 7K RPM. Goes down after 8-8.5K RPM. I have tested it many a time.Originally posted by JASMINE RIDER View Postwhat? 50 kms from your R15 at 7k rpm??
When I rode from here to Bangalore I was continuously cruising at 120-130kmph&the bike returned only 33kmpl.
City usage people are getting anywhere from 38-43 based on their riding style.
Hope I have explained all.
I am not asking these questions for mileage info., I would like to know at what speed CBR can cruise.
7K RPM=? kmph in top gear?Quench my thirst with gasoline!

100% true OR...its the same case even in Thai (like the weight I mentioned)Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostThe topspeed of the Indian model appears to be lower than the Thai model
It CAN maintain 125 all day (120 is just the beginning) & remember, 125 I'm talking is true GPS not just the speedo. But for sure FE will take a bound. But what I'm little confused is that, there're some stretches where I did 120, for eg, Surat-Vadodara & Pokhran-Bikaner. On the former road I got 29.8, while on the latter I got around 25. I assume I might've been a little hard with acceleration with latter, not sure though.Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostWhat is the cruising speed of this bike? Yes, but it screams, while C250R doesn't scream. You cannot feel the engine stress on C250R at any point; do a hard braking from 130, yet, you'll see you get into 110 in no time. Not sure if R15 can do the same.Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostR15 can maintain 120-130, but FE drops considerably, thereby indicating stress on the engine

Nope!!! it can do 125 Kmph all day on speedoOriginally posted by Sarvajit View PostI guess that would be a good estimate of the cruising speed

@Sarvajit:- I dont think the Thai bikes are any different, if you look at an average Thai, he might roughly weight between 60 to 70 kilos, which matches with @fastestIndian weight. The same thai spec model when tested in USA, the top speed mentioned was somewhere around 90MPH [144 kph], so I dont think there will be much of a difference.Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostThe topspeed of the Indian model appears to be lower than the Thai model.

By the way do you think the weight of a person has got anything to do with top speed? I mean acceleration yes, but top speed, I doubt.
I would suggest you try out the CBR and R15 back to back and see the top speeds.

+1 bprags; I'm seriously considering to reduce my weight to experiment & test this thing with C250R. And I believe 6th is an overdrive gear on C250R (not the regular one as what I posted few pages back).Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

That I don't know!!! I've checked with 2-3 people (in real time not on forum) who're weighing over 80 Kg weren't able to cross 140!!!Originally posted by chicmagnet View PostSo does that mean, me weighing over 100 will not be able to do over 120kmph? bah!

Then what about the folks who are doing 130-140 speeds with 'pillions'... Now surely you aren't going to say that the rider and pillion weigh 30 kgs eachOriginally posted by aargee View PostA reliable source told me that the owner was able to do 160 on speedo & guess the weight...around 60!!!
