nobody in their right mind would fully grab the brakes while cornering.. in case you do in a non abs bike wheels lock and you skid.. in a abs bike the system will modulate your braking so the wheels dont lock BUT if you see any abs test video you can see that the system is not 100% perfect.. as in the wheels do lock for a milli second or so which could be enough to send you licking the corner..

also braking in corners is entirely different from braking on a straight line. in a line you would be looking for drastic shedding of speed while in a corner you need the minimal.. but abs when activated goes into full braking mode while you would be looking at feathering the brakes.

but ofcourse abs wont be activated unless you go all hell on the brakes so you should be safe.. even the honda site says you should decelerate sufficiently before taking a corner rather than taking a corner and then braking..
      Regardless, Life shall go on.

I don think so mate, While in a mid corner if you have to apply brakes always it is the rear brake which is safe, not the front (hope doesn't need explanation). Hence in C-ABS even if you operate the rear brake front brake is also actuated (the 3rd piston in the front) but thats not the case with non ABS. So there should be some limitations in mid corner braking while doing a knee scraping cornering with ABS.

And i agree when time is really bad even if you are sitting on the bike stationary anything can happen!

        • took a 80+ kms non-stop drive on the CBR on the NH!
and wow!!i never realised i was at 107 until i looked at the speedo (i though i was around 60-70!!..no vives, no noise)

anyways the bad news is I HAVE A MASSIVE back pain now.. long drives on a CBR250R was a turn off for me as a first time experience!
although i feel the bike to be one of the most comfortable, yet, oouuuucch!!!..

          PS: my height is 6'1''!!!

anyone of my height owning a CBR to share some experience??

          • Yes with 6.1, Even I had some issues during my 15 min test drive, Not a back pain though, But I felt too much pressure on my hand causing pain and also gear levers and break levers really mis-matching and uncomfortable for my height! Ay the dealer said the levers are adjustable! And when ya have a comfortable seating position, I assume the pain may not be caused!

Yup!! though not the gear levers, but yes,i too have a problem resting my foot on the brake lever..i find it uncomfortable to always place it on the lever so i place it below the lever and shift my foot back up when i need to use the rear brake!thats uncomfortable!!

someone throw some light on how to "adjust" these levers to gain an optimum driving comfort??

nothing better than doing it yourself!!

anyways,i know the SVC guys wont take as much interest in those minor adjustments as i wud..they wud simply say "sir,ye theek position hai..maybe apka posture wrong hai..aur kisika toh aisa kuch complain nahin hai"

but yaa u are ryt..they cud surely tell me "how" to do it myself though

Even i am facing same situation . Act 1 week ago i did my 1st service @ 890kms and SVC mech changed only oil as Oil filter is not available yet and charged me some 350Rs for Oil . When asked they also told me it is not necessary to change oil filter but then i had no choice as i was not in a mood to wait for Oil filter to arrive . Any way if you really want to Change oil filter then you have to Hold your horse for few day's(or Kms) .
Its not enough to know how to twist the throttle; you must have judgement to know when and where to do it.

Thanks.. so its every 500 kms. And how do we know if the chain is lubed properly? Is there any way of finding that out?

Even I felt some pain in my palms initially. Then, I realized that I was holding the handle too tight. Loosened my grip and moved back a little bit and the pain was gone.

                              Dude,
As KurtRules said, I would recommend you to wait.
You just 750 Kms on odo & first service is done at 1000 Kms.
You still have 250 Kms at hand.
Go slow on Kms & take that time in couriering oil filter at your place.

I know it is very much tempting now, but oil filter change is crucial in first service as people often say oil contains worn parts of engine (before first service as engine walls & piston settle down).

So wait, & utilize time in getting oil filter & everything that manual recommends during first service.

It often takes a humiliating overtake to understand that an early jump off the red light won't help them lead the pact. All I want to say is - Go after green.

Oil filter is not a must thing to be done which will cause probs in the engine for the bike if not changed at correct time. As it is the first service changing it is good. But don't be afraid without changing it will cause major probs. Clean the oil filter properly with petrol and put some oil over it and use until the stock arrives rather than making the bike rest at home waiting for that. But if one is not changing the oil filter proper clean up of the oil filter is necessary.
I only meant that its not a big deal to be worried about.
For most bikes the oil filter change during the first service is a must, but sometimes SVC guys themselves (intentionally/non-intentionally) don't change the oil filter.
