Are you sure that sale of booking is entertained by the dealer. My dealer did not let me transfer the booking.

I just couldn't check that yesterday when he showed me the can as i was in a hurry and he had assured me that this is the only one recommended by honda.. At the time of oil change my bike had 1212kms on the odo.. The incharge is ready to take all the responsibilty of my bike and assured me to ride it without worries and if any problem, he will take care of it.. now i have done around 180kms on that oil.. And i dint find any difference.. But guys please suggest what should i do now???
Yesterday, i mailed HMSI and got a call today morning from a delhi number. They confirmed that the oil that comes in the cbr from the factory itself is 10w30 synthetic.(i didnt tell them about any oil or so.. Just asked what comes filled from the factory and what is recommended.) He said 20w40 may be used but we use and recommend 10w30 synthetic oil for normal conditions.
Then i called up the West regional office in pune. There technical help rep also said the same. Then on more questions, she transferred me to the divisional incharge of nasik (as i said i am calling from nasik) and he repeated the same thing.
I was planning to replace this new oil to 20w40 keeping this oil in some clean can and using it later on.. Now my bike has done 1400kms (200kms on the new oil). But as they all say it has 10w30 in it right from the factory, now i am more confused.
            Any suggestions???
You gotta risk it.. to get da biscuit !!!

Depends on the dealer, some accept transfers some dont..if u really want to transfer, but the dealer doesnt allow, then wait for the bike to arrive and ask ur friend who booked the bike and the person the bike to be transferred tp go to the dealer together. during registration, the other person can give his details in presence of the actual person who booked the bike.. its like a father booking for his son or an elder brother booking for his little brother..

or else, go to them get ur booking cancelled and get a full refund !!!!

              • Some confusion guys, need some advice:

I had called up the South Regional Office, in Bangalore, yesterday regarding the shortage of the oil filter, and was told I would be contacted from HMSI. Upon not receiving any call till today, I called them up again, and they said they have forwarded the complaint to the head office, and have instructed the service engineer at the showroom where I bought the bike (Haiku Honda) about the problem.

Then, they asked me to contact the service engineer at Haiku Honda for further enquires. Now, upon enquiring with the service engineer, I was told that the change of the oil filter is not mandatory, and that only the oil needs to be changed, and that I should get the vehicle today to get the oil changed. I insisted that the manual says the oil filter has to be changed, but he replied saying they have received training from engineers at Honda, and that the oil filter change is not mandatory

So, what should I do guys? Just go ahead with the oil change? Or wait till the filter arrives, which I'm not sure is happening soon

Ask if they're willing to reply this via email.

Then ask them why the owner's manual says a oil filter change is required at 1K kms? Ask them if they employed some joker to write the owner's manual.

take this in writing and tell them to send you a mail that its not mandatory . later on if you have engine issues you can blame honda for it

The function of the oil filter is to trap any residue in the oil, so as a temporary measure just wash the filter in petrol, soak it in a lil engine oil and replace it. That will clean out the filter along with any particles it may have trapped. An engine oil change is necessary post 1000km on the ODO because the high-temperatures in a new engine degrade the oil much faster, and any really fine metal particles will be eliminated.

All you CBR owners, don't worry so much about the oil-filter thing. NOTHING drastic will ever happen by reusing the old filter. ok?

From the limited knowledge I have, oil-filter has to be replaced.

Some members in other locations have mentioned that they have oil-filters available in their city. I'd advice you to take help from them, & get it couriered to B'lore. Should take 2-3 days.
Don't depend on Honda right now, as Dealer-Manufacturer-Dealer formalities & fights take up a lot of time.

All of us know this. But the question is - WHAT IF. What if something goes wrong during your warranty period & HMSI points out finger stating the issue was due to the first service & the filter not being changed?

HMSI will not take responsibility later that someone spoke over the phone. They'll have proofs to show the owner's manual, while, there's nothing to prove from our side.

Point - Be safe than sorry

Same case happened with the r15 in 2008 . yamaha dint have oil filters / break pads . first yamaha was insisting in changing the oil filter. then later on they said its not available and its not necessary .

Thats a good point aargee, but we have the proof that we have done the service in which SVC and the oil filter change is a mandatory replacement which the SVC's need to take care and if something goes wrong we can have the bill details as the proof? Hey Honda team! so when do i get my Oil filter for my CBR250??
I planned to get my servicing done at 500 kms but the SVC guys did not have a stand, the right tools nor the filter... Now i am at 900+kms and they still dont have an oil filter! :'(

                                HONDA INDIA:

You don't need to change an Oil Filter so early dude. Get it changed in 2nd Service which is at 3000 kms as we think. If you want a Stand then get it from Aftermarket as of now. We have not started to make 1 and we are in planning to Build 1 as Early as possible.
