in my P220 manual.. it just says clean oil filter every 5k kms and no where it says i should replace it lol it says replace air filter at 15k kms but not oil filter.. apparently cleaning is more than enough. so i'm supposing since honda is so much more superior technology wise you guys are worrying way too much about the oil filter.. just my 2cents.
I think all of us are facing knocking issues at lower RPM's. Ripping the bike well its left to you. Just be on the slower side for at least 500 kms.
today morning when i rode i felt knocking wasn't there! i think knocking starts when the engine is heated up! n e way will look into it during the first service! and abt 500 kms - i will keep that in mind!!
Knocking is der in almost every CBR250 launched till yet and that has to solved by some settings in the clutch...(others who have solved it can help you)
dont worry mate!!although its a good practice to maintain the speed and RPM limit for the initial odo reading (just to make sure) yet i have been reading and reading and reading on this subject since i bought the bike and all i can conclude is these motors are very capable and doesnt matter how hard you rip them or how slow you drive them, ultimately they end up giving the same performance!!In reality therz less than 5% chance that u acutally rip your bike in your run in and end up with a damaged engine!
so if u havent had a problem with ur engine yet, then relax, its all fine!!
just try and not aim for the top speed for now...120 is ok i guess!
Thanks guys! Glad that you all liked the pics.
I know the Saree guard is an eye sore and I should've removed it before the photoshoot. But this plan was an impromptu plan and we totally forgot about the saree guard thing. We directly went to the photoshoot after the delivery.
Congratulations to all who've graduated to the Ownership thread.
@hifisharu - I'm planning to go for the same pilot lamps and Philips Crystal Vision or Diamond Vision. Any idea how much these will cost and where I can get it in Bangalore? Regarding the Pilot lamps, I've already spoken to Navnish.
Sudeep,
You can get it from Reiance Autozone(Automart). At least you can be rest assured you are getting the original one.Otherwise you can search in ebay or in JC rd. But the challenge in JC road, as you know to get the original product. If its Philips, ensure it is made in Germany. I checked it like that way.Osram is also good, i had fixed it on my ZMA. I purchased from Kolkata.PM me if you need further details,Otherwise the Lightman Navnish is aways there.
A few bikes of my bike. Pic courtesy Rohan ( arhiman on xbhp )
the bike is beyond my ability to describe! i own a 220 and well after riding the cbr it feels so HEAVY! i don't know what honda have done with the c.o.g and other nitty-gritty, it is so very flickable! the exhaust note is awesome too! guess now we know why they are "international" models! here's to more exciting stuff for the owners!
cheers and ride safe
It takes more love to share the saddle than it does to share the bed.

concluding this kind of conclusions are not good.
the pulsar series uses a filter which is a net type much like a mosquito net.
in cbr 250 and man other bikes including p 135 uses a paper mesh type filter like what we get in cars, which needs to be replaced.its not at all recommended to clean it.simple idea change oil, change the filter,if not the muck at least a part of it will be mixed and most imp the oil pass will become less and less with time as it filters more efficiently.
so verdict is simple, change it with oil change or asap.

Thanks Yatishankar for that piece of info. I'm already in touch with Navnish for the stuffs. I heard Osram Nightbreaker is better than Philips Crystal Vision. So might go for that.

i dint mean to conclude brother. just stated. either way i dont think its actually gonna contain "muck" if its muck in the true sense.
pulsar 220 uses a centrifugal filter not mosquito net types. which doesnt need replacement but cleaning. while the cbr uses a paper mesh filter like you said which needs periodic replacement according to google. but still i feel you guys are going paranoid. if it can last 1000kms i can last 1500.. if it is really gonna cause so much harm dont you think honda would have given the filters more urgently?
Heard in some other forum that TVS Apache RTR 180's Oil filters can be used. It's a direct fit. Not sure it this would void the warranty or cause any other problems.

Yup!! we can stretch the life of the filter to 1500 but it is not recommended by the engineers....the maximum we should do is 1200 kms (as per HMSI)if we want to maximize our bike's life and performance!!
Now, i dont think its a good practice to drag it to the limit and risk our investment..besides,these kinda damages are not covered under warranty!!!
abt the production, well i dont think HMSI cud have faced the unrest created if the bikes were delayed any further, besides that wud have affected their sales too!!
but the filter, no everybody understands the necessity of getting it changed, most of them know nuthing abt the filter or how it works..for them, the SVC guy's words are the bible..if the SVC guys say its not necessary,it must be true..how do the SVC guys care if our bike runs into any trouble or even dies??

dont try unless very very sure that it uses the same one. A small simple misfit and it wont survive the purpose.. And IMO, will definately void the warranty if not done through a Honda ASC..
