Now oil change for r15 used to cost me some 450 bucks for 1 litre (15W40) yamaha lube. so my question is - with cbr having an oil capacity of 1.5 ltr how come the entire oil change will cost only 375 bucks? then what kind (quality) of oil are they putting ? they are telling me that it is supposed to last 5000 - 6000kms .... i mean even the synthetic ones are required to be changed at 4000kms(+\-) interval depending on riding.

Guys any suggestion on the interval at which i should again change the oil again, since at the service station i don't any other options?

To add to it they do not have the oil filter but assured me they would be receiving it in a few days time.
      reply for Bold part .
1> It is up to you If you feel/need to change engine oil you can change it @ any interval <6000kms . Yes even i agree that this oil is not gona last upto 6000 kms so i am gona change engine oil @ 3000 to 3500kms .

2> I am very happy to see that Engine oil dosent cost much
Its not enough to know how to twist the throttle; you must have judgement to know when and where to do it.

            • @Everyone: While the grade of oil is correct, there seems to be some foul up with the price of the oil. I got the same oil put in, 10W30, fully synthetic, by Honda, and the price is Rs504/lt. I had to buy 2, one lt cans, of which 1.4 lt was consumed this time, and was given the rest 600ml, to be put in next time, so next time I have to buy only 1lt more

If they are charging Rs375 for the whole 1.4lt, there's something wrong. AFAIK, all synthetic oils cost upwards of Rs500, Motul 500V, costing somewhere close to Rs850, if I'm not wrong.

So, my advice is please check if they are puting the oil from a sealed can, and check the price on the can

                          • Finally went through the 81 pages in one day!
Expecting the CBR250R by end of this monthish.
Great reading everything here, from chains to engine oil. I think when my bike gets here I am going to rely heavily on the existing Bangalore owners. Have seen only one bike on road though, looks like everyones going far off for photoshoots Just makes me more jealous and eager at the same time!
Thanks a lot for the mods list and the PDI list, great initiative aargee.

Well, nothing substantial in this post at all, had quoted a lot of posts but then realized there wasnt any point, thanks, and congrats

WTH!!! Just read through your post, though I did notice it early. I don't know what to say. Even a semi-synthetic costs about Rs 500 & upwards & fully Synthetic costs about a K or so. For that price, I could only expect a 100% mineral oil, which is good during the initial period too.

Anyway, try posting all the sides of the oil can, may be, we could figure out something.

Tks for bringing to the attention.
