Yes. That was my exact confusion a few days ago.. I wanted to use mineral oil for intial run-in.. But after a couple of mails, calls to HMSI and a discussion with the SVC incharge, i found out all recommending this same oil and said synthetic oil was filled from the factory too..
So there was no option left other than using it with the oil they supplied..

A quick question, what about warranty being void if the recommmended oil not used???

@amlan: remember you are looking for foldable footrests.. (i think even a yamaha gladiator ss has a similar one) with spring action..

I have seen bikes without saree guard but if you look under the seat cowl, the bolt holes that previosuly held the saree guard are still hanging below. Can this be got ridden of? Is this metal strip welded to the frame under the seat or bolted to it which can be removed? I want to have the seat cowl look clean without these bolt holes.
Please see below pictures for your clarity.
Its welded to the chassis. And cutting it would be an option but not a good idea.. But i dont think it is that disturbing.. Yes, i too have put back the black bolts and infact one of the bracket is in use to hold the holder for the disc lock which can be hooked on it when not in use.. (i am using a simple disc lock.. Costed rs.200, made of aluminium, quiet strong, has a unique key.. Total VFM.. Will post the pics after i reach home as now on mobile and away from home )

P.S: just 3days more for my exams to get over!! And am all set to dedicate myself to my CBR for a next few weeks..

Thanks for your opinions. Will check what to be done when I will receive my bike.

Good chances especially when HMSI can relate saying that the engine was overheated or relate an engine seizure easily to the engine oil that is other than what's suggested in the owner's manual.

I had a fear of the bike loosing control but still did it. First attempt it was a horror!! I could feel both the brakes engaging and dis engaging thingy going on very quick and I couldnt realise the fact that this is how abs behaves though I drove many miles on an ABS equipped car. then after a second, did couple more tries and it worked like a charm!! Even on wet surfaces there was no issue at all.

Trust me guys, ABS is worth the money you paid for it, though a lil over priced, It can save your lives at times. Will test ride an apache RTR ABS to see how effective it is and to compare both CBR's ABS and an RTR's ABS.
Yea, I was also afraid to slam the brakes hard at first. And ABS takes some getting used to. You can feel the brake lever pulsing and this can be weird for a fist timer. With ABS too, the tires will skid for a millisecond. But it will disengage faster than any human can possibly do. Once you start trusting ABS, your braking goes to a whole new level. Allows you to brake really late. Definitely worth the money.

            • thats my broken footpeg

I went to Honda SVC today and they said zmr will be a direct fit and R15 also may fit!

went to yamaha showroom...got a footrest and compared with my footrest, although someone said it wont fit, i think it will!!!
but i didnt get yamaha because R15 footrest is the full metal type unlike CBRs while has the rubber type....so i put it on hold and went to HH showroom, NO footrest stock for ZMR anywhere...
then i went to TVS showroom and called up a mechanic known to me...and he opened up the footrest from an old apache and compared it to my CBR's..according to him, RTR 180s footrest is also a direct fit!! but once again, NO STOCK!!!!

so today's attempt was a flop, i guess i better wait for CBRs OEM footrest or go with R15!!(which costs rs 64/- a side and i have to change both sides)

              • sorry abt the abnormally large pic...taken from an 8.1 MP cam

btw as argee suggested, i went to the welding guy and he said it'll take 4 hrs to properly weld and polish the footrest and make it like original but the rubber is gone forever as u can see above...it wont last another mile!

                • Excellent to hear. Now someone was talking about parts interchangable being bad on the launch thread. This is when things come to handy. I'd really appreciate if someone shows some replacement for saree guard & good looking front number plate.

                    • called up HMSI kolkota ryt now regarding the footrest..
they said that its not possible to just send one piece so i'll have to wait till the bulk spares arrive.
I said that it 'll take a lot of tym and my CBR wud be unusuable till then..he then said although the procedure says that the dealer should contact us and place an "emergency order" to get a part this way, yet we will keep ur details and your oders and try our best to send a footrest to your dealer and let you know soon!!

Once again i asked abt the oil filter and he said that its gonna take another 15-20 days..so i said by then i wud have completed 2000kms on my odo! n he said that sir u change ur oil as soon as u can and filter will be replaced when it is available....

i said that HMSI,delhi had told me to wait till 1200 and change the filter and oil together. but he said that filter has no connection to ur oil..a dirty filter can only reduce ur perfomance but a non-capable oil can simply kill your engine!!!

So who shud i agree with? HMSI,delhi or HMSI kol (i have done 929 kms yet)
