CBR Servicing
I am about to service my cbr and so decided to have a word with service guys.... specifically about the engine oil. now they told me that they would be putting in an oil costing rs. 375 (for the entire oil change amount) ... its some 10W30 ... semi or full synthetic i have no idea.
Now oil change for r15 used to cost me some 450 bucks for 1 litre (15W40) yamaha lube. so my question is - with cbr having an oil capacity of 1.5 ltr how come the entire oil change will cost only 375 bucks? then what kind (quality) of oil are they putting ? they are telling me that it is supposed to last 5000 - 6000kms
.... i mean even the synthetic ones are required to be changed at 4000kms(+\-) interval depending on riding.
Guys any suggestion on the interval at which i should again change the oil again, since at the service station i don't any other options?
To add to it they do not have the oil filter but assured me they would be receiving it in a few days time.

Finally, got the engine oil changed, Honda is recommending a fully synthetic 10W30 for the CBR. After the oil change, the engine is even more smoother, and just wants to rev all the way
Didn't get a chance to open her up though
, thanks to the crazy traffic in Bangalore
Also, spoke to a service engineer, who had come for the delivery of a CB1000, about the oil filter, and he says it is good to go with the oil change, we will change the filter at the next service, which I plan to get done at around 2500 kms. Hope everything remains okay
Got the headlamp changed to Phillips Crystal vision, still have to check out the performance at night
Will post some pics, with the mods soon

Yes, please comment about the Philips Crystal vision light quality soon. I hope its better than the stock lamp. But Philips xtreme vision is the latest one from Philips, could have tried that. Osram night breaker plus is also good. Both of these almost come out winners if the illumination quality is taken into account. Let us know how does your crystal vision perform?Originally posted by hifisharu View PostGot the headlamp changed to Phillips Crystal vision, still have to check out the performance at night

Your bike is way better than babes, only thing is that you need a proper vision to mull over this fact. :D

Thanks guys! Glad that you all liked the pics.
I know the Saree guard is an eye sore and I should've removed it before the photoshoot. But this plan was an impromptu plan and we totally forgot about the saree guard thing. We directly went to the photoshoot after the delivery.
Congratulations to all who've graduated to the Ownership thread.
@hifisharu - I'm planning to go for the same pilot lamps and Philips Crystal Vision or Diamond Vision. Any idea how much these will cost and where I can get it in Bangalore? Regarding the Pilot lamps, I've already spoken to Navnish.Sudeep P Nambiar

I think all of us are facing knocking issues at lower RPM's. Ripping the bike well its left to you. Just be on the slower side for at least 500 kms.Originally posted by ASIF AHMED View Posthello friends,

Knocking is der in almost every CBR250 launched till yet and that has to solved by some settings in the clutch...(others who have solved it can help you)
dont worry mate!!although its a good practice to maintain the speed and RPM limit for the initial odo reading (just to make sure) yet i have been reading and reading and reading on this subject since i bought the bike and all i can conclude is these motors are very capable and doesnt matter how hard you rip them or how slow you drive them, ultimately they end up giving the same performance!!In reality therz less than 5% chance that u acutally rip your bike in your run in and end up with a damaged engine!
so if u havent had a problem with ur engine yet, then relax, its all fine!!
just try and not aim for the top speed for now...120 is ok i guess!
(worth mentioning that when i had a platina in class 7, i too cudnt control my desire and started to touch 90+ within the 200 kms range itself!!...the bike died in the midway..i though it to be an engine seizure but it was just overeheating...15min of cooldown and i started to fly again!!and am pround to say i never had an engine problem in the past six years and its still top notch!!.. the one thing i discovered by this method of run in that my bike had a noticably better pulling power and sound compared to the other platinas which had been taken ultimate care during runnin...ofcourse yes, i had lost a bit of smoothness of engine though..my bike got more vibes than anu other 100cc even at 20 KMPH...lol)Last edited by AmlanR_CBR; 06-04-2011, 01:53 PM.
