ThanksOriginally posted by samarth14feb View PostWhat details do u want...cost me more than 300 bucks
1. Closer picture or probably just the pic of the mesh
2. Material used
I might not use for the very reason, I stay cautious with radiator fins & have instructions with my ASC to not wash it & do it all by myself.
Most important thing is...no matter how much much the radiator collects, the bars are not going to raise more than 3
Its for the betterment of our xBhp CBR group.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

Thanks dude. Will post full details morning tomorrow with measurements.Originally posted by raven20 View PostNice work Samanth.. You have a PM from me.
The main intention for making the guard was d front mudguard which is short and our indian roads r full of mud roads with lots of stones which hit d radiator and bent most fins . My original design(pic1) was good looking and could guard against dirt too but failed as the radiator heated up too much n fan was always running.Originally posted by aargee View PostThanks

I used a normal mesh available in local shops (pic2) hardened with metal borders and gas welded L clamps (never do a arc welding,, heat produced would meld d mesh) . Its working great though. No heating problems whatsoever. Will post detailed pics of current Radiator guard tomorrow
occasional cleaning of radiator with a tooth brush has kept it dirt free too. I spray soft water to clean d mesh and no detergents used.
Branded radiator guards cost us 4500k (I copied d same mesh design though
)

The bike was at home after the second service about two weeks ago. Just parked her at home straight from the ASC and couldnt take her out anywhere due to hectic college schedule.
Took her out today, and maybe it is because i was riding my RTR for a while, but the gearshift was absolutely freakkin smooth. It was like, the lever had been lubricated with ice cream or somethin
Then the minor fairing rattle has also almost diminished although i can hear it at times but its not bothersome.
Went offroading up a steep hill with a narrow path filled with uneven sized rocks and she didnt break a sweat. The tyres gripped throughout very well. Brakes still good after 4500kish... ABS saved my behind as usual. And she's awesome!
Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Just trying to understand what made you to choose a radiator mesh instead of extending the front fenner by a couple of inches? Not that I find anything wrong, but trying to understand your perspective of mesh vs front fenner. OR you just went with what you felt better?Originally posted by samarth14feb View PostThe main intention for making the guard was d front mudguard which is short and our indian roads r full of mud roads with lots of stones which hit d radiator and bent most fins

A slight OT here, but feel free to let me know & I can move it to Riding Gears thread
During my last trip, http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/tourer/2...stal-ride.html, on the return leg to home from Trivandrum, CBR punched a hole in my Crapster (that's what I like to call) Colt. Though I've Nelson Rigg tail bag, I somehow feel it might simply give away half the way, not just due to the build quality of bag, but due to the lack of professional straps.
While I was looking for alternatives, that is when I hit upon RYNOX GEARS.
Appreciate if anyone has experience with them or more better, used their saddle bags on CBR 250R to share their views here because I'm looking forward to buy Nomad saddle bags from them. Thanks.Last edited by aargee; 04-23-2012, 09:10 AM.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

Yes, i went for the guard to preserve the looksof my bike :-) extending front fender will totally spoil its looks, well to me it does. Dont know what others feel.Originally posted by aargee View PostJust trying to understand what made you to choose a radiator mesh instead of extending the front fenner by a couple of inches? Barely after 150km on ODO, the right side mirror's upper bolt has come out a bit ... I did check the bolts during PDI and they looked proper ... Is it pretty normal for cbr mirrors to loosen themselves ?

Doesnt the saddle bags damage the bikes paint. ? What precautions have to taken. ?Originally posted by aargee View PostA slight OT here, but feel free to let me know & I can move it to Riding Gears thread

Nagoo - Pls see post #7500; you can find more than what you're askingOriginally posted by nagoo View Postwant to know at what rpm and gear the CBR reaches 100kmph..

Stick a tape (if not confident, stick it double layered) to the side panels under the seat (not the black one); more precisely, where you can find the 250R is sticker in the newer models; everything will be fine.Originally posted by samarth14feb View PostDoesnt the saddle bags damage the bikes paint. ? Got my CBR delivered yesterday.
Its RED
Some points for PDI.
Please check radiator fins.
Foot pegs for blackening.
Honda is not serious about this bike at all.
Initially I booked my bike from Rahul Motors Karnal on Friday (20th)
He committed me to deliver bike on Sunday.
I paid 10k as booking amount, on Saturday he told me that he can arrange 2011 model only or I have to wait till 9th, WTF I booked my bike from him just because of his commitment of delivering bike on Sunday.
After 1 hr he told me that they have talked to Honda people in gurgaon plant that they have one model 2012 manufactured (Red ABS) I said ok, I was supper happy hearing that.
I clearly mentioned I dont want any one to test ride my bike and he said rest assured sir it is premium bike we do not give test rides.
Sunday
11:00 AM
I went to the showroom and saw the bike standing there, I was super excited while entering the showroom, but my excitement was thrashed,
Paint on the silencer cover was totally peeled off, even after many years of sunning that kind of paint damage is not acceptable, then paint on side panels (that silver part where over these touches plastic part) was totally damaged, it was like some has used scotchbrite to clean that area.
I called the owner what is this and he said no need to worry we will replace these for you, I was very annoyed, the I asked for the keys and turned the bike on WTH 98.2 km in ODO I was totaly pissed of,
situation 4 persons me, 3 showroom guys
me "what is this 98 km and you call it fresh model"
Guy1 " Sir I came from our ware house from Neelkhant and guy 2 rode it to the showroom"
guy 1 went to call the owner
me " but you people told me bike is coming from gurgaon"
Guy 3 " Sir we called gurgaon plant and they told us that bike has been transferred to ambala and I rode it from ambala to Karnal"
me " you just told me that it is coming from neelkhant "
fight
long story
after 1 hr of heated argument got my booking amount back
at home checked other dealers in haryana for RED ABS 2012 model
Located one at yamunanagar
1 PM left for yamunanagar
3 PM at showroom
Bike was looking fine until I spotted some scratches on silencer cover
me "scratches on silencer cover"
Showroom guy " we will replace it"
me "you have spare for this one"
SG " no we have TRI color bike in basement we will replace wit it"
me "ok bring the TRI color bike so that I can compare the quality"
TRI color arriver
Foot pegs on TRI color was of superb quality as comparison to red
me" what is this look at the quality of foot pegs on red one"
SG " we will replace it with TRI color anything else sir"
me " visor is also very clean on TRI"
parts getting replaced
My observation of TRI color fairing was badly scratched at one place
one can clearly see black plastic under white fairing.
Another look at red one OMG radiator fins are bent 20% apron "later I realized that it was light direction which was exaggerated the situation but still 20% fins are apron 20% bend, I hope you can understand 20% qty 20% bend angle)
me "look at radiator fins"
sg "we will replace this to"
I thought for a sec and took a torch to have a clear look, situation was not that bad to replace it but still it was not in mint condition.
me " no need to replace radiator, just tell me its price for future, I have heard its very expensive"
after 15 mins
sg " 4400 sir"
Ever component I asked was changed.
I wonder who will become the owner of tri color.
me "please show ne invoice"
sg " its confidential"
me " I want to see manufacturing date"
sg "its 2012"
me "just show me"
sg " sir we cannot, rest assured its 2012 model"
me " show me or no deal"
sg " of but only a glance sir"
me "ok"
invoice
manufactured date 29/12/2011
one more this I saw was dealer purchase price its 1,61,000 ssssshhh
its confidential
me "what is this"
sg "this is the latest lot"
me "but you told me its 2012"
sg "sir only 2 days diff is their"
me " ok but its 2011 model I need discount"
me thinking most of the problems was sorted in the initial phase I can accept this
sg " sir we can give you 1000 Rs discount"
me "make it 5000"
sg "this much is not possible"
me "no deal"
blaw blaw we settled at 3600 discount
bike was showing 15 km on odo, it was acceptable
took the bike and forgot all the sh#t happened during the day.
will upload pics soon.
