BTW, don't you feel these are tricks played by the dealers rather than HMSI itself? How can you blame HMSI saying they're not serious? Any specific reasons?

In 3rd Gear approximately between 9.5k - 10k RPM. Don't remember the exact rpm since I did this long back..

I know one thing FOR SURE...redline at 3rd gear (revlimiter cuts off) & the bike does 106 Kmph; had verified this because someone on GT250R thread said, 3 gear does 110 Kmph at redline & that provoked me to find this info.

        • Yesterday i accidently overfilled bikes Reserve Coolant tank , and now coolant level is just above max mark , what should i do..? and from where we can drain excess Coolant ?
Its not enough to know how to twist the throttle; you must have judgement to know when and where to do it.

          • ^^^ Use a long tube to drain the excessive & additional coolant & dump into a clean bowl; use the coolant in the bowl to refill to the correct level on the CBR.

Then i think CBR does 100 at around 10k..

OT: Read somewhere that Duke 200 needs 5th gear to reach 100kmph mark..

              • Got delivery of my CBR250R ABS Tri colour!!...BUT...

Got the delivery on 18th April after a lot of false dates and promises. The delivery was exactly one month from the day I had booked the bike.
The initial delivery date promised was 31st march(The sales guys were fully aware that the bike would only be shipped in April 1st week and would need about 10 days to reach bangalore).Dunno why they make such false statements because it causes a lot of hassles for customers. In my case I ended up selling my R15 in first week of April and had to do without a bike for about 10 days.Anyways, got the delivery and headed for the temple when i saw the bike was overheating. When i got the bike it had run only 3 kms.The overheating started after riding about 4 kms.But the showroom had closed by then.Got the puja done and headed home, only to return back to the showroom early the next morning. My immediate doubt was they had forgot to fill coolant.Had not done enough reading before buying the bike and my internet connection was not working that day(awesome luck I have I tell you).SO was unable to locate the coolant reservoir to check myself(now I know).

Both the CBR technicians were on leave( luck again) so they had to call another technician from the bannerghatta saffire honda showroom after my insistence on not riding the bike there. One thing I noticed and liked that the service manager doesn't allow anyone other than the trained technicians to even touch the bike(this is for the CBR specifically). After waiting for an hour the technician arrived. The guy started working on my bike without informing me although I had instructed specifically to call me before opening anything up.When asked what was wrong he started fumbling and said that there was a bubble in the pipe that directs coolant to the engine. He has drained the coolant and was filling fresh coolant.I dint buy that story but had no time to argue with them.Got the bike fixed and left.Since then the coolant temperature has never gone up beyond three bars.Dunno if the 10 odd Kms I rode with the engine heated up caused any damage (hope not). Was thinking that what if they had done the same with some other customer who was not that informed and had not noticed the issue. There would have been an engine seizure surely.

Went on a ride to horseley hills on Sunday and the bike is fun .Have completed 600 kilometers and have got the engine oil changed at 500.
All in all,I feel that Honda is doing their part in ensuring that CBR customers are treated well and have special service bays, technicians etc for them. Its the dealers who are messing things up and are skipping even small things like a PDI before delivering a 2 lakh bike. I feel kind of guilty for not doing a proper check myself, but did not think that these people would be so ignorant to not fill in coolant. All people who are in the process of getting their new bikes,CHECK THE BIKE PROPERLY BEFORE TAKING DELIVERY.Check if all fluids(coolant, brake, engine etc)have been filled and only then take delivery. Its your responsibility because you are putting in the money. These guys are not bothered.
As for the HRC (Tri color)bike,it draws a lot of attention on the road and m enjoying it.Thanks to people here and the posts 7500 and 7600 by aargee which helped me in making the decision. Will attach some pics soon.End of rant

My apologies I missed it. The 250R does a 100 in 3rd gear too! At exactly 10,000RPM.

                      +1; exactly my point.

Know what? The HMSI ASC is now getting used to CBR so much that, they started treating CBR's like Unicorn!!! I'm seriously annoyed by this way for a very simple fact that none of the vaccum heads knows the importance of torque wrench & use them. HMSI's workshop manual for CBR's provide clear cut instruction on the NM to be used & needless to say, this freaking, pathetic, immature & illiterate jokers still use the regular wrench & tighten things to fullest.

I'm 100% confident this way all our CBR's will be rotten ONLY by these idiots.

Its not a new dealer.Saffire honda is the one, supposedly one of the largest and best dealers to deal with in bangalore.

Honestly speaking,The service guys were pretty responsive and understanding and looked very professional in their job.I kind of liked their attitude and the enthusiasm with which they working on the bike and I will head there for services of my CBR as well. But looks like the service guys are not involved in the pre delivery checks and someone else working with the delivery/sales does it at the yard after they receive the bikes from the factory. And as is the case with most of the dealers in India(irrespective of the brand),the sales staff are hopeless.Only way out is to be cautious yourself and not to trust anything until you see it with your own damn eyes!!!

And with the CBR150R coming into picture,I fear that it will only get worse since it will sell in higher numbers(compared to the 250 although I would prefer the duke at a lesser price ).

You sharing of your experience is worth a new post as such; if you don't mind or I'm not asking too much, can you make post 8200 like a Q&A as how should one remain cautious when buying CBR from dealers & avoid all the hassles; I can provide inputs from my side. Only criteria being, that post should get updated often as & when there're people reporting new incidents.

If its trouble updating for you, let me know, I can make the post & keep updating & pls send me your inputs. I'm OK either ways as long as the post remains updated consistently.

Somehow, I feel C150R will start selling less in numbers...unless HMSI removed CBR 250R STD from their product line or increase the price of CBR 250R substantially.

Sharing of my experience is my only way of contributing to this great forum and I know that I would get back ten times the experience i share in return.
I would love to make a post on what you mentioned above but dunno if I would be able to put in all the info by post 8200.This thread is pretty active and will reach 8200 in no time.8300 probably?
