Ah... i am actually located in chennai for now, i'd be moving to Bangalore permanently from Oct onwards. If you happen to spend the weekend in chennai, we could setup a G2G on the first week of Sep.

    • @Brat: when are you getting the bike? There are around 3 full red and a full white GT's in the showroom waiting for delivery.

Update after nearly 2 months of owing the bike:
      Crossed nearly 1350kms
Front breaks are worn out and I can feel it. It is not crisp as how it was.
Have mild fairing vibrations at 3.5 - 4.5k rpm after track ripping the bike.
Fuel indicator sensor continues to show wrong info. SVC has agreed to change it in warranty. Waiting for spares.
      No other issues.

However for the past 3 weeks I have started to observer one thing. The heat has reduced drastically. It is now may be just 25% of what it was in the initial week. 90% of my ride has been in city only and that too thru thick traffic. I use it for office most of the week. However I do not feel that heat while riding.

There is one thing that i do based on advice from @melroyal: Switch off the bike when the signal timing is more or equal to 40 secs. Not sure whether this has been one sole reason.

Just want to know how about the other bikes here? Anyone have felt the same?

Really? Unless the dealer is hoping to surprise me, not exactly sure why he hasn't called me yet... will pay a visit to the showroom today.

These issues don't really sound too pleasant within this short duration and only 1350Kms. Any particular reason stated by the SVC guys about the brake pad wearing out so early ?

I am expecting a call today from the dealer to confirm the delivery date for my bike. It should be sometime towards end of next week I guess.

Could you guys please suggest me the check list for PDI in general for bikes and specific to GT650R after your experience with your bike and observing the early issues.

            Cheers.

It depends on the driving style and method. I in my pulsar change the front break pads every 6 months. The SVC guys also told I am using the breaks heavily. That's true. Also the bike was ripped in track where the breaks were used extensively at high temperatures.

                  • Thanks.
But still I am yet to experience how it feels on a long ride. I am yet to take it to the highways for long runs and to test its top-speed.

A Track day with 1350 KM on the odo.. as far as I remember the dealer told me that run-in period is 1600 KM, or was that 600 ? Is it safe to rip it in the run-in period ?

Hi.The seat of the GT are extra wide and comfy. There is bit of lean forward but the handlebars are within reach.
I have ridden the bike for an hour stretch,it was not back breaking

@melroyal:Not planning another saddle sore ride or something even bigger with GT650R now :-)

Another query regarding the front number plate. The Garware guys told me that they will give a sticker type number (on the front mudguard) and will remove the number plate. Rear number plate will be standard with embossed numbers. I asked him, if this is legal to put front number sticker on mudguard instead of having dedicated number plate. he says it is fine, and will not have any problem. He has delivered other bikes as will in the same way. I remember Melroy saying in some other old post that it is not legal. Could you guys please clarify if you have any clues about it or should I ask him to put the number plate instead.

BTW just checked with the dealer about the bike delivery, he is still not confirming the date . Now going to the bank to check the loan application approval status. This should be done though, i believe.

I am new to thread but I have been reading this from a couple of weeks, as you have mentioned that you are getting a loan, could you give some more details about it, coz I desperatly wanna get this bike, If you can tell me which bank loan and whats the downpayment ammount I would really appreciate.

And BTW about your question on the front no plate, in my Fazer i have removed the no plate and put a sticker but cops caught me saying its not legal and I had to pay fine for it. Better get the dedicated no plate I guess.

                              • Guys,
Had an extended test ride of the GT650R. After almost 4 years, I am getting on to a super bike (an accident put me away from biking world). My experience is from my Buell riding days. I had initially booked CBR250 and then cancelled when I realized GT650R and Ninja are coming to India. With me back to India was at Eswari motors,Adyar, Chennai to check the GT650R. Following are my quick observations, need input from the owners so I can decide on the purchase

                                Cons:
                                1. The finish and the quality of plastics leaves a lot to be desired on 5 lakhs plus bike
                                2. The electrical (protruding connectors seen by naked eye) and the lethargic way in which the bike has been assembled left a bad taste in my mouth. I can understand this is not a CBU but still Garware needs to get its socks up
                                3. The technical knowledge of the service engineer who was supposedly trained by Hysoung was lets says below average. Even simple questions like torque or EFI settings was answered by a blank stare. When I asked him why not use semi sythetic for first 5k run-in and do a freq oil change, he wasn't able to substantiate the logic. He only kept saying Hysoung told us so!!! (and may be I make money @ 1200rs/ lit of synthetic oil!)
                                4. The test bike gears were pathetic to say the least, I had to literally fight to get the gears changed!!!!!!!!!! I am assuming this eases out. Need input on this please, this is a major turn off for me.
                                5. I felt the EFI was working in a sporadic manner below 5-6k Zone. I felt as if the bike was switching on and off, as if fuel supply was cut off and switched on. Did not find it free like my Buell or the Honda
                                6. Vibration was far more than my previous bikes, does this settle with time? Any aftermarket addons you guys came across?
                                7. None of my questions on spare part pricing was answered, they kept saying we are yet to receive the pricing list!!! When asked about what will be the expected maintenance cost, they said fairing is around 60k etc!!! I told them it aint maintenance cost, I am talking about routine maintenance like clutch plates, brake shoes, cables etc...no answer

                                Pros:
                                1. The styling looks really awesome except for the freaking indicators which seems to have been taken from a Sunny! They should have integrated it in the fairing
                                2. The grunt of the V-Twin was hard, unfinished, and rowdish if I may say so, kind of liked it better than the more refined bike more like my RD350
                                3. Color choices are excellent, Ninja should learn from this, not everyone loves green!

Whats with the complimentary stuff Garware is giving? I felt insulted when he told me we will get a Vega offroading type helmet, some stupid googles as starter kits!!! Are they serious? How do they expect a rider, riding a GT650R with that stupid offroading helmet? I felt cheap and insulted by this Garware indian mentality!!! They could have just given a good t-shirt and a cap and be done with it!!!!

All in all, I have a mixed feeling about this bike, though I loved the bike, the technical incompetency packed with Garware's amatuer approach is making me think "Wait, watch, and then decide!!!"

                                Sorry for the long post...
