Never accept the sub-standard service, calmly speak to the head of service center or ask for area manager. It will help!

Major goof-up they do esp. with Impulse is to change the oil while bike is parked on side-stand. Since the bike stand almost upright they feel its ok to do that, make sure they park it on paddock stand before changing the oil.

Due to their inefficiency at their job, I learnt to work on Air-Fuel Ratio, maintaining the chain and other tidbits of my bike, I made fuel economy testing kit, paddock stand too.

You can share ur difficulties here (if any) we all help each other here.

    Regards.
If you look at the manual it mentions about 25 to 30 checks that need to be done, but these guys dont even do one forth of it.
I gave my bike for four services and they didnt lube the chain even once saying that they are out of chain lube every single time. I felt they didnt even change the engine oil on my second service. My rear tyre was wobbling and when i asked them to rectify it they said that they cant do it coz the bike does not have a center stand. They give such lame and petty replies that u wont feel like going back to them the next time.

You have made a right decision by getting this bike, to make the experience of Impulse even more enjoyable please dont compare Impulse with Pulsar neck to neck.(I know u have done that yet but comparison is inevitable). I also wanted the blue Impulse but it was not in stock at Autolink, Borivali so I got the black one.

      1. Riding position is definitely the best in any class of bikes available in India, very comfortable & it inspires to ride even more. I rode 400Kms in a single day n yet had the energy to hangout with friends at night.

      2. You are right the engine is same as Unicorn with a bit of tuning done to match Impulse's personality.

      3. It took me almost a month to get used to gearbox n I still struggle to put it in neutral from 1st gear. Unfortunately, nothing can be done about it.

      4. I advise you against putting any filter or new exhaust system on ur bike; after-market filters will suck in lot more air than stock filters which will require richer fuel intake hence
performance will increase a bit, sound will also be much better but at the cost of fuel economy and at the risk of welfare of engine because more the air, more the particles end up being sucked into engine which will corroborate the piston in long run.

      5. I have installed the NGK Iridium plug too, its superb; much better than the stock. The cable cannot be installed because the stock cable is integrated in coil so they will cut it n then join the new cable which will defeat the purpose of adding the low resistance cable as it will still get the power from coil through stock cable. Its upto u if u would like that to be done on ur bike; but I did not install the cable.

      6. So far I have not come across any performance mod for this bike...its a forgotten child of HERO, they have already discontinued the bike. Its upto us now to go thru the trial n error process on our beloved bikes.

Enhancing the performance will not help that much as its already decently performing bike; I took it for couple of long rides exceeding 350Kms continuous drive, went for total off-roading too once - it never tires or make u feel tired. Just maintain the bike good, lube the chain with 90w gear oil instead of chain lubricants, make sure to idle the engine every morning for 1 minute at least. Do not fall for so called performance enhancing mods or tricks as this will hurt ur bike in long run.

      Ride safe, ride responsibly!

      Regards.
Hey bro thanks for the info.. but why would you say not to install aftermarket air filters such as K&N? I had done the same on my Pulsar150 and was getting a killer mileage of about 55-60 with a good midrange. Shouldn't rejetting the carb solve most of the issues you are mentioning? also regarding the dirt particles, isn't K&N a better filter than the stock?
ALso i read somewhere that the impulse is not discontinued .. dont know how much this is true though...

          Hey Guys,

Please do the needful for our friend Dinesh...

          Hi ,

As you might know, Recently (April-May, 2013) I did soloride (13 day trip) covering 5430 kms fromDelhi to Kolkata to Bhutan to Sikkim and Back to Delhi via East West Highway along the Nepal Border. Besides this, You might also be aware, I had done Rann of Kutch (4000+ kms) and Ladakh (3000+ kms) (both solo) despite my old age (CURRENTLY I AM 57 YEARS OLD) and several solo rides in Himalayan region.

Now I have entered Wanderer of the Year 2013 contest and need your valued votes. I AM SURE YOU WOULD ALSO LIKE me TO WIN THIS CONTEST. So please vote for me onhoodibaba - Biker of the Year 2013 and also get votes of your near and dear ones and friend circle so that I reach the Dais on the D.Day. ..........I need hundreds of votes to win.

I have still to do several rides all over India so I need your support and encouragement.

          hoodibaba (Dinesh Sharma)

          Thanx

Not that I havent confronted them, but hearing their replies it feels like they are doing us a favor by servicing our bikes. Thats why ive moved on to a local mechanic. Solved most of my issues except for the rear tyre wobble and the noise from the shock ups

                  Hi,

Since u do pure offroading for atleast a week in a month as u said, would u mind sharing few images of ur ride? would like to see how impulse cope up with off-roading in jungle, as i only ride on highways mostly.

                  Regards.
