Hey thanks for the info, I too need to sort this out. Please if you can upload a picture of the bolt then it will be very helpful, asking for the picture so as to stay safe, incase the svc mechanic turns around and says that everything is fine.Originally posted by Nilay View Post

Getting to ride hard on my green glider.Opened up the throttle today upto 7k rpm in short bursts of 10 mins. Didn't observe the speed at those rpms, concentrated more on varying the rpm.
Seems like the bike red lines pretty soon, it can surely do well with a bigger engine.
But I think HMC will not come up with any another cross-roader model in near future. So, this is what we can get for sometime.

Endurance: I think your wiring is all messed up. Please have it checked by the dealer. Your instrument panel lights and starter should have nothing to do with the brakes. Starter should work as long as you are not in gear with clutch engaged -- and have nothing to do with brakes.Originally posted by Endurance View PostImpulse owners of forum , please post if your bikes pilot(position) lamp and tacho backlight comes on "without" need to press either brake lever?
In my case, the self start works only when either front brake or rear brake is engaged. This seems to standard practice of hero bikes- so fine with that.

Other owners ,can you please confirm the switch behaviour on your bikes.

show your bike at service center. surely your bike's wiring is messed up.Originally posted by Endurance View PostImpulse owners of forum , please post if your bikes pilot(position) lamp and tacho backlight comes on "without" need to press either brake lever?
In my case, the self start works only when either front brake or rear brake is engaged. This seems to standard practice of hero bikes- so fine with that.
However, when I switch on pilot lamp (middle position in RHS switch gear), neither the pilot lamp nor the tacho light is illuminated. Only when I press either brakes the position(pilot) lamp and tacho light is illuminated.
I opened up the fairing and RHS switch gear to see if wires have been swapped. From what I see it appears that ground for brake lever switch, engine on switch and lights is common and hence without engaging gear lever circuit doesn't complete. So, it seems to be a design mistake.
Other owners ,can you please confirm the switch behaviour on your bikes.
P.S. The speedo (lcd) orange backlight though stays on all the time.

I took my Impulse on 1100km ride from bangalore to karwar and back....i had clocked about 300kms when i started the trip.... I thought that the book only says don't rise suddenly upto the first 500 km....after i crossed the 500km marked i threw this precaution to wind.....don't know what the long term effects of this will be....but i had a great ride....only lacuna in the bike is the top speed......i wished many a time that it would reach 130Kmph but whatever i tried the maximum i could touch was 110kmph on the speedo....that too slightly aided by a down slope....Originally posted by Nilay View PostMy bike clocked 1100 km till now and i never ride above 60 kmph and never open the throttle above 5000 rpm mark. Now i want to ride it hard..........really hard to check the potential of this bike.......
Want the suggestion from u people.........

higway cruising
Got an opportunity to crise in the highway from Bangalore to karwar and back. My cousin was on his bullet 500 classic and me on the Impulse. The ride from Bangalore to haveri on the NH4 express was very smooth, but the lack of top speed really shows up on many sections especially when riding in tandem with the 500 classic which can reach 130 to 140kmph...
however the ride is very settled and comfortable and the handling is awesome.
Once we take a turn off the NH4 into narrow ghat roads and village roads with lots of pot holes, the advantages of the Impulse can immediately be realised....it effortlessly steam roles over bad roads and one need not chop the throttle.....it is pretty awesome on the curves in the ghat too.
Good cruising bike for long distances at this price only a 130kmph-140kmph top speed is required for these NH4 kind of expressways at some open stretches

Didn't opt for insurance from the dealer , instead got myself an online policy from Bajaj allianz. Also didn't opt for good life card.
The overall experience is nothing to write about. The hero dealers feel like they are actually heroes.
They misplaced the muffler heat shield and promised to source new one from another branch of theirs.
PDI was pathetic. Though vehicle didn't have any scratches, They did miss out on one important point.
My tacho doesn't light up when head lights are switched on !!
When I brought it to their notice, they promised to look into it on next working day, since it was closing time. And next working day means on 27th since tomorrow is holiday.
Whenever I hold front brake lever or rear brake only the tacho lights up and along with it front pilot lamp too glows !!
I thought its weird . Did any other Impulse owners face this problem?
Also, the digital meter orange backlight stays on even without switching pilot light . I think something is wrong with electricals.
I will open the fairing tomorrow and check it out. Meanwhile any pointers will be helpful.
i m impulse owner too, i m not facing any of these problems, and dat orange backlight is permanent, there is nothing wrong in it ............................. there is some electrical prblm with ur techometer.

one thing which annoys me on highway is that while crossing big trucks or bus type of big vehicles at high speed, the wind blast created by passing vehicle pushes me so hard that a sudden resistance is felt and it seems like i will be thrown away from road along with my impulse
.(i am 82 kg). May be its because of the riding position and shape of the bike.

That will happen with any bike,so the farther you are,the betterOriginally posted by Nilhawk View Postone thing which annoys me on highway is that while crossing big trucks or bus type of big vehicles at high speed, the wind blast created by passing vehicle pushes me so hard that a sudden resistance is felt and it seems like i will be thrown away from road along with my impulse

It all begins with a thumb-start -- Oh, wait, I forgot the kill-switch
