Re: Honda CBR 150 R
Hi Guys, my first post at xbhp. After almost an year of "study and wait" I got my new CBR 150 Black on 8 May. My initial budget was around 1L but couldn't find any satisfying bike, other than this.
Some of my queries being a newbie of cbr and currently in running-in period. I have followed almost all posts here on xbhp regarding run-in period.- So I have never drove it in higher gears at lower speeds. Even though I "assumed" that if we drive at higher rmps in lower gears "its not good for engine". But I think doing that only consumes more fuel. So I have ensured that I shift to higher gears when im at an rpm of around 6 to 7.
- Never accelerated quickly, just slowly increased speeds linearly and maybe let it run on some rpm for a minute. (varying rpms as much as possible)
I hope I have been kind to my bike. Some questions I need to to put for you all.
- I tried to free rotate the back tire, but I find a faint sound while it revolves. So im concerned that the break show touches the wheels, however my friend said, its fine for new bikes "itna hota h nayi bikes me". Now I check if the rear disk is fine or not, it gets hot (not sure if its okay)
- The manual says and check engine oil daily. I thought really !!(and my dad said that's always a must if u really love her). However the manual says, start engine->leave it idle for 3 mins-> wait for 2 mins->then check. I thought we can check engine oil of a bike thats not running for say 3-4 hours or over night. Do you all do this everyday??
- Is there a way to get full black side fairing (just like 250R), All black would be the best we can imagine, current stickers look pretty overdone.
- Manual also shows a helmet lock. How do we use it? I didnt understand
- I have a disc lock, are their any better locking options
- Any suggestions for better service centre in Gurgaon
Thanks and CheersLast edited by sid.; 05-18-2015, 04:27 PM.

Re: Honda CBR 150 R
Congrats on your new acquisition Sid. Have many happy and safe miles
First problem could be because of the dirt accumulated in the chain. Adjusting and cleaning the chain could do good.
Checking the oil level daily is really your wish. If you dont see any leakage or oil marks in your parking, then it should be fine.
I dont think we have a full black fairing available for 150r.
I read in the previous posts that the helmet lock in CBRs can be broken easily. So don't rely on it.
For disc locks, visit www.xenasecurity.com
I am not from Gurgaon and hence cannot help you on that. I am sorry.
Hope this helps.
Cheers!!!

Re: Honda CBR 150 R
I had to change mine at 15k kms, which is actually pretty early. It was my fault, as I rarely lubed it.Originally posted by rahulr3445 View PostWhat would be the average life of chain and sprocket?
Cost was around Rs 1500 /- i guess, don't remember it exactly.

Congrats on your buy @sid ! You're doing fine on the run-in partOriginally posted by sid. View PostI hope I have been kind to my bike. Some questions I need to to put for you all.
Here are my thoughts:
- Could be from the chain as @SaHaRa mentioned . Get it checked during 1st service
- Everyday checking is good practice, although I don't do it
- I have seen someone's bike in a SC with full black fairings. Maybe it was custom painted or ordered from eBay. You can find lots of these in eBay, especially from Philippines
- Better to carry your helmet with you, especially if you own a good and expensive one.
- Disc lock is fine, but you can check out xena or Gorilla alarm systems.
- Sorry, No idea about Gurgaon SC

They are asking to change it as they cannot tight the chain any more....

Maintenance bro. Depends upon maintenance. 7k maybe too early but if it was not cleaned and lubed at regular intervals.......Originally posted by Dhiman Jyoti Sarmah View Post7K are you kidding me :O
please check with some other SC. I think they are bluffing.

Re: Honda CBR 150 R
Heyy guys,
So I have completed about 500 kms with my bike. Should I get the first service now or maybe run it for some more kms... say 750?
As far as break-in is concerned. After reading so much (but still conflicting reviews creep in)
1. I have revved it slowly at each rpm in each gear. Basicallly running it for say 1 min at 6rpm, then 1 min for 7rpm, and so on till 9 rpm and then touched 10~10.5 rpm for say 30 secs
2. I have done it for each gear (not the 6th gear and 1st though, its hard to reach even 8~9 rpm in gear 1)
I know there might just not be 100% acceptable answer about breakin, but still I hope this is the best what i could have given to my bike. I never lugged the engine, no sudden acceleration, and just slowly letting it build on its rpm and the slowly letting her come back.
Now should I get it serviced or maybe put on some more kms? Also I want get it serviced in front of me, I cant leave my "girlfriend" in mechanics hand all alone. Is this allowed, because I want to see what all is done in service. I want to see that engine oil with breaked in particles.
Any suggestions are highly welcome.

First service primarily is to drain out engne particles from lube. I would have got a service done if I had your kind of a break-in.
You can get the service done in front of you, might have to wait a little, and sweet talk a little, but its no big secret.
.
Your 'girlfriend' gonna be a lovely ride after her first.
