    Hi guys I own a RTR180 and I have been smitten by the baby blade.The RTR 180 although excellent for the cities has certain limitations when it comes to highway riding.Nowadays I am mostly riding on the highways which is why I am thinking about the baby blade. I have a few questions in mind before I a make decision.

    1.what is the best cruising speed?? as in a speed at which the baby blade can cruise for prolonged periods without getting stressed\power loss.

    2.I am used that addictive torque and grunt which apache has and I have heard that the baby blade isn't very great when it comes to bottom end power.(even though I wont be riding in the city that much) I would like to know how you guys feel about it.

    3.OF course its going to be much more refined than the Apache and also when it comes to engine longevity. I would like to know the regular maintaince costs of this Bike.

    4.Lastly, it would be with a heavy heart that, IF I make decision to opt for the baby blade, will I have substantial upgrade over the RTR180?? because my beloved RTR180 has served me well for the past 5 years Even though there were two rebores done. will the CBR 250R be a better upgrade. Baby blade owners please DONT get me wrong I am asking this it because both the CBR150R and the RTR180 have 17PS + power.

        To answer your questions:
        1. Cruising speed: 100 - 110 kmph, without any effort. I have done this for more than an hour at a stretch.
        2. The low end does the job for me in Bangalore city traffic. Probably you can get more idea from other riders.
        3. Regular maintenance cost is less. I can comment till the free services which i have undergone, is less than Rs. 1,000.
        4. Upgrading from RTR 180, i would suggest you to go for CBR 250R or KTM RC200/390 (based on your preferences).

          I'll leave owners of the CBR150 to answer your Qs.
          Here's what you need to know how the CBR150 compares with the RTR
          a. Refined engine with positive gear shifts.
          b. Revs easily, so even if you experience low power at lower RPMs you can easily put the bike into its powerband
          c. Shorter wheelbase.
          d. Adequate 55W headlamps (highways).
          e. Almost no vibrations whatsoever.

          Have you considered other options : Duke Pulsar 200 / R 15 (still selling strongly despite competition) / CBR 250 [not ideal for city].

          will I have substantial upgrade over the RTR180
          It will be a qualitative change. If numbers are your aim, look at bigger bikes.

            The above post is a nice way to put it. Its the quality of the ride that will be the change. I feel RTR vibrates a way lot more on highway speeds. Sometimes it diminishes the riding bliss you look for during highway cruising. Also do not worry about the low end power on CBR. its more than enough to manage inside city and on highways its epic in its class. I am saying this because I too want a change from my RTR and I test drove this bike in city only, many times, on different cbrs, just to make sure if it ll be manageable. And it came out to be very much manageable. After all going relatively slower in city traffic is safe. I feel the only costlier part that will get damaged on bad roads will be the radiator due to mud and stones :P you can get a guard for it. service rates are nominal and its easy to own. As you said engine will last long even if you red line the cbr all the time on highways. And most importantly it can do what youre looking for: cruise at 100kmph comfortably without getting stressed or vibrating :O Its frugal too and has a long cruising range just in case if you worry about fuel consumption.

            People abroad usually say when in doubt go for honda :P But I am just thinking if the Indian service centres provide us such reliability and trust :P

            Only reason why I havent booked this bike yet is because my exams are on and its just so so costly for me that I have to convince my parents right now :P :P

            Also gixxer SF appears good to my eyes but its not outright sporty But again if I am not able to convince my parents for that too I will buy the naked gixxer because its the only cheaper bike and I can get the fun that I get on my rtr. So try other options if you are not sold to cbr completely!

            both are rather new and I would anyway go for an already tested and proven engine like CBR but again the cost matters a lot.

            Don't worry much! just book it if you want a relaxed, vibe free ride for both city and highways and if you dont mind spending the extra thousands

              Guys,

              My CBR 150R's rear tyre has worn out. Looking for new tyres. I used an already worn out Conti Go 140/70 R17 for few kms and I felt the cornering had improved a bit. Meanwhile I also rode a FZ-S Version 2.0 for few days and I found the handling is awesome. The rear tyre of FZ is 140/60 R17. My queries are:
              1) Will fitting a wider(140) but lower profile(60) tyre improve handling? If you look at 1000cc bikes, most have very wide tyres with little profile height.
              2) I am looking at a budget of less than 4k only so I do not know Pirelli or Michelin is an option for me. But with MRF which tyre should I go for? Should I go for stock tyre, or same model Zapper Q with 140 width or should I go for FZ tyre 140/60.
              3) Conti Go is cheap but does not last long on CBR250R. Is it because the bike is so powerful or is it because of that tyre?
              4) Any tyre suggestions?

                I don't know much about tyres bro, but I've read that the Pirelli Sport Demon (PSD) tyres have an amazing grip, but being Soft-compound, they won't have a long life!
                Michelin Pilot Street Radial is also another great tyre, but it's beyond your budget so no point considering that.
                As for MRF, maybe you could try the Revz-S (130/70-17 : the stock rear tyre on the R15s, but it's also available in 140/70-17 size) or the Zapper-C (150/60-17 : the stock rear tyre on the RC 200).

                  Guys,
                  i just completed 1400 kms long ride on baby blade. Although mostly on highway but still baby blade is awesome in every condition. Mini beast roared at 120 kmph and want more but it depends on road condition. Cooling is excellent and continuously rode the bike for 450 km without hault and still cbr running normal, even though there are some rough roads. Even this bike is awesome when running on national highways and when cross winds during mid irritating others, this bike can handle it at 110 kmph.

                        When I used Conti go 140/70 for few days I felt the bike handles corners better than the stock tyre. Didn't feel any loss in performance. Has anyone here tried upsizing?

                          I have! I currently use a Ceat Dhoom 3 140/70-17 tyre. I don't know why, but I felt pickup had increased slightly compared to the stock size after installing the new tyre! The top end has also increased owing to a larger tyre height.

                                It looks good as well. But I prefer 140/60 than 140/70. Let's see how it suits me... But what do you feel about the cornering? Has it improved or worse or no difference????
