New engine takes time to settle and with the change in oil the particles comes out which is good for the engine
    Thanks

    The dilemma of 'Engine Break-in'

Changing the engine-oil in a new engine will help clear out any metal particles that will otherwise circulate in the engine. It's recommended, though not compulsory. Why else would manufacturers mention 1st service at 1000km? And all bikes have oil-filters, what do you think those are for?
I am from chennai too, glad to know buyers from chennai...That was very useful,i was about to ask next question 'wht is oil filter' .. To be true i am a noob

Even I feel the same, but I believe that I can manage without the KILL SWITCH. Let me speak to Joel, and I will let you know what he says.

I read it in a review, new engine will have some particles inside, it is good to change the Engine oil at 50km?? is it true?.. Will it help to increase engine performance? . I am palnning to change engine oil at 1. 50kmp, 2. 300km and 3. 750km(1st service).. will it affect engine performance?
Mama, I am from Chennai (Camp road). Meet me as soon as you get the bike da, and do send me friend request on fb.

        • In 6th gear, at what rpm does the bike do 60kmph, 80kmph and 100kmph respectively?
        • According to you, what is the highest cruising speed you can maintain on the bike? (Highest speed on 6th gear where the engine feels relaxed and not stressed)
My bike is still in run in so, I can only tell you that the bike does 60 at approx 5k rpm.

This was one of my concerns, being an R15 owner. But when I test-rode the CBR150R, I found that it has a distinctive thrust from 4000rpm onwards.. Wasn't hard to ride in traffic at all. The torque spread must be better than the R15, although the total amount of torque is comparatively lesser. And remember, this is coming from a modded R15 owner.

Hey, that's what xBhp is for man! I learnt a lot through these forums when I first signed up. Anyway, you'll notice that when you give your bike for service your bill will have charges for oil change and oil filter along with others. The oil filter, like the name suggests, traps any particles that might be present in the oil before it is supplied to the engine. Presence of particles in engine oil could cause catastrophic engine damage and failure.

On a new bike, when you first change your engine oil, you might notice a fine film of particles on the oil that is removed. That is metal particles and shavings from the new parts mating and smoothening out. Although the particles are too fine to cause any damage, it is advisable to change engine oil at 100km, 500km and then at 1st service (usually at 1000km).

Man, I'm so sorry. I keep forgetting that you cant complete your run-in because of the Registration issue. Anyway, I read a few pages back that you'll be uploading more pics over the weekend. Please keep the updates coming! Thanks..

Thanks man.. You're a biker regardless of what you ride. And this IS a portal for people to discuss motorcycles. I don't understand why ego/fanboyism gets in the way.

Mods - Sorry for the OT. I'm looking forward to riding the CBR again this weekend. Am trying to get a longer ride WITHOUT the sales exec sitting behind me. Will post my experience if it happens.

Yes the torque spread along with the gear ratios that play the role here...

I beleive the bike should be relatively short geared to compensate the high revving nature of the bike to make it more driveable...

@neoakshay - to answer your queries
                            1. The bike touches 60kmph at 5k rpm in the 5th gear
the bike is still in run in so never made it to 6th till now
                            2. Srry dude can't risk it right now. will surely come to know after first service.

I am a little confused with what colour to buy. Orange and green I felt little flashy. I wanted to see red in person but din't get a chance. I liked black in cbr250, but 150 I am
