If you are not able to hear it when idling at 1400-1500 rpm.

You can also do it on a cold engine, but generally tappet noise is less in a cold engine.

Some amount of tappet noise will be there even in an engine in perfect condition unless the bike is totally brand new. So to identify whether the tappet noise has increased considerably that it needs adjustment, comes with experience.

Do not confuse tappet noise (tic-tic) with another dug-dug sound which may be present in old bikes.

Further adjustment of tappets depends on riding habits and expertise of mechanic. With the tools available to local mechanics and even some authorised service centers and skills of mechanic, it is very difficult to set it 100% perfect, so generally most mechanics adjust it slightly loose as slightly loose tappets do less harm then too tight tappets.

If tappets are tightened too much there will not be any clearance left and upon high revving or high speed runs, valve stem may get bent or valves may not close properly causing leakage and power loss causing bigger problems coz metal expands on heating.

For example- my mechanic always keep my bikes tappets very slightly loose he knows i am very fond of full throttle burts every now and then.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks buddy for the info. 100km/hr @6500RPM seems great for an able tourer.[emoji5]

            Hey Pinaki
So now that I have center stand installed I was able to observe the sounds more clearly, and indeed it was coming from the chain-sprocket assembly. As soon as the gear got engaged (without race) the whole chain side assembly shook as if an earthquake had hit it! Ok too much of exaggeration, but yeah, you were right about the tak sound coming from the chain. My mechanic simply adjusted the clutch lever, but now I have solid proof to show him that it still happens and it is coming from the chain assembly and not because of play in clutch (clutch play was what my mechanic said).

I am having a tough time in putting the bike on center stand though, always have to try 2-3 times before success. [emoji14]

Guys yesterday i am able to touch 145kmph speed on the speedo while crouching. I think it would touch 150kmph speed but the road is cracked so not able to push beyond 145kmph speed.

How is bike's stability in that speed and what about the engine vibrations post 120 kmph?

                      Hello All

                      Quick question

My bike has done 9.5k on the odo, recently got the 3rd service done. My bike used to do 70km/h at 5k RPM and 100km/h at 7K RPM. Now at 5k RPM it does 67 KM/h and 96Km/h @ 7 K RPM. is there a way to fix it? what is the usual speeds at the respective RPMs? Please let me know if there is a way to fix it.

                      Thanks in advance

Maybe they had changed your bike's CO settings slightly. BTW deep007 quoted that his NS does 100km/hr @ 6800RPM.

80 KMPH Below 5K RPM?! are you serious? and whats the mileage you get per litre of fuel?

Ps - i understand that yours is a new bike but still I wonder how can there be so much of difference in performance.

Do you use stock 130/70 R17 tyres? Or have you changed them?
