Got serviced my bike last Saturday. Changed the oil from motul 7100 to 5100. Acceleration is slightly affected but engine is very smooth and performance also good. But I felt that engine is getting heat around 6 to 7 kms itself. Anyone experience the same. Any suggestions.

It's always an enriching experience to go through the posts of Xbhp as I'm new to bikes and a lot is required to be learnt. I needed help for a problem I've been facing in my new 200NS which I had purchased in the last week of March, which means it has been 3.5 months since I had purchased the bike. The bike gives serious trouble in attempting to start it for the first time any day. Every first time start in a day is met with 4 to 5 successive failures after which the bike starts, after which I allow it to idle for about a minute before going for a ride.
But once the first start is done, a single start is sufficient to kick her for the whole day.
Also sometimes I've experienced that if the bike has started, it goes off as soon as I try to accelerate a bit after putting the first gear. This also happens only for the first start in a day.
I'd like to share that my running is quite low. I've driven the bike for 700 kms. only in 3.5 months. I'm sharing this figure so that if the start problem could be attributed to my low running, I'd know the reason behind the problem.
Another fact is that the bike has undergone first service and this problem aggravated after the first service because I believe that the serviceman has reduced the idle RPM of the bike from 1400 to 1000. Could this reduction in RPM be the cause of the starting trouble...? If yes, I may get it back to about 1400 if recommended by the experts here.
Kindly let me know the cause of the problem (low running, low RPM, other causes) and also if there's a solution to the problem as a bike like 200NS not starting after 5 to 6 successive attempts isn't the best thing to happen in a beastly and incredible product like this one. Thanks in advance for your support. Will soon post the pics of my new love anytime soon...! :-)

      Set your idling to 1200RPM.

700Kms in 3.5 months is not a problem. But it's under utilized for a bike of this size and type . ok coming to your concerns. Did you apply choke to start, instead of trying 4 or 5 times?. A lean mixture can be a culprit, and the svc guy might've touched that. Few more things, let the engine run 1-2 mins after every long hours of parking, say 8 hours. BTW this is hot summer in India, and unless you live in a cold place, your bike should start without any hiccup in one shot. FYI, after 14 days of non-use, my bike started in one press of the button.

        1. Use choke if you want to start, never apply throttle, apply choke gradually instead of opening it all the way. Turn of any lights before starting.
        2. Idling rpm is 1350, but you can change that to 1400 if engine stalls (Do it after engine warm up), but make sure it no longer shoots higher after a hot riding say >1700rpm
        3. At least press the button ~1 sec but not more than 3 sec, give interval of ~3 secs for the battery to recover from discharge
        4. Before you start to move (after start-up), see at what RPM bike is running in tacho. It shud be ~1300 at least. Otherwise you may experience engine stall at times (in ur case)
        5. You can set the mixture to rich (a bit) to fade these problems, but at the cost of mileage.

Finally, take her on some long distance and try some high speed cruising. Happy riding

What do you mean by engine heat?, getting frequent fan running or getting any warning?.
While initially I had the thought of changing to motul after second service, but the bajaj oil seems very smooth (in my bike at least ) and I don't see the need for a change. But the smoothness that I'm referring can be different than the smoothness that you are referring, I mean it could be even better in your case. But I was just you know lazy and why change when good? . 5100 is good for smoothness as we know, How was the performance when using 7100?.

Thanks a lot for the reply mate. That will be of great help. Would like to inform you certain things:
          1. I haven't tried applying the choke yet as the bike is so new that I thought it's unnecessary to use choke to start a bike as new and as capable as 200NS.
          2. Idling rpm in my bike was changed by svc in its first service from 1400 to 1000 rpm which was set at 1400 rpm by factory when bike was absolutely new. I think it is this low rpm setting which might be causing stalling. I can confirm that this starting problem occured ONLY AFTER THE SVC GUYS FIDDLED WITH THE FACTORY SETTINGS and not before it.
          3. Brother, if the lean mixture is the problem, may I try setting it to rich...? I'll have to search the forum/Internet to know how to set the mixture to rich as this is my first bike and I don't have experience to perform it.
          4. Since I've posted this query on Xbhp, the problem seems to have aggravated and now since two days, even 8 to 10 successive strats are not sufficient to get the bike moving.
I'll try to keep the beauty on the move as suggested by you. She deserves some outing now...! :-)
P.S. I perform each successive start giving a break of 3 to 5 seconds to allow the battery to recover.

            Hi guys,
I had posted my query relating to the starting problem in my 200ns which was answered by jbm guy. I'll try to follow up with his suggestions.
There's a second issue now which seems to be something serious. There appears to be some leakage in the bike. The oil/liquid which leaked has dropped just below the engine. I'm posting the pics. Its the first time I've witnessed any kind of leakage from my bike as the bike is just about 4 months old. Any help on the basis of the pics would be of great relief for me. Note that the engine oil level is still upto the upper mark. I'm seriously worried as this is the second problem the new bike has posed in last 4 days. Thanks in advance.

Hello Guys, a quick question for people in bangalore.

Has any one of you got your bike serviced at Crank It Up service station? It is not bajaj service center, but I have read some good reviews, but on FB. So I would like to confirm it from my fellow xbhpians before I go to that place.

It would be great to get some reviews on that service station / garage (it's privately owned)

              Thanks

Saw from your profile that you are from Jabalpur. Rainy season and morning temperature below 25C, I guess. So, till the rains started, you had no problem. Now, let us look at the science of your climate now. Cooler air has more density, i.e, more weight per volume. That means more weight of oxygen per volume. Plus, more water vapour now, due to humidity. Add to that a leaner setting after 1st service. If your bike starts withOut choke now, I would say that is a problem!!

Just use choke, bro. And let the engine rev itself up to 4000 rpm on choke alone. Will take a minute or so.

Don't worry much. Oil leakage will not be a problem unless you are off limits. Just make sure the oil is within the marks. But if you find this frequent say, every day parked at office or at your home, it needs to be checked, eventually you will lose the oil.
                  Few reasons
                  1. Too much oil
                  2. oil gasket or o-ring wear\tear
                  3. Poor service, resulting in improper bolting or screwing.

You can make sure from where you are getting the leak. Have these options in and approach the service center.

May be the switch in the clutch would have damaged. Did you try pulling the lever fully??

Thanks to each one of you guys. krixna, your scientific explanation deserves a thumbs up bro. Indeed this problem started when the weather started getting humid here. Wanted to inform you all that yesterday after much preliminary research was able to get hands on the idle screw of my bike. I increased the idle RPM from 1000 to 1400 (back to the factory setting), and the STARTING PROBLEM SEEMS TO HAVE VANISHED...! Now, the bike starts in its first attempt itself, in one single push within 2 seconds without applying the choke. Even a second electric start was not required in last 6-7 starting attempts. And there is no stalling whatsoever. This seems to be case as per my observation of two days. Whether this favour the bike is giving me is temporary or permanent would need some patience. But in short, increasing the idle rpm seems to have hit the bull's eye...! Will update on this issue after few days of observation. Thanks to all of you for the help offered...!

(I haven't yet fiddled with the air-fuel mixture setting as increasing the rpm itself seems to have solved the problem)

Just see it doesn't shoot up to 1700 when the engine is at top operating temperature. That would be waste of fuel. Alternately, you can set to 1400 when hot, but that would mean about 1000 in cold start, the engine may not start firing in cold weather. For this, turn the throttle a little bit and hit the starter button. Cheers !

Thanks for the reply bro. Actually, the day in the morning I saw this leakage, I remember the previous night I had revved the engine (bike standing, on neutral) a bit too hard. The RPM might have crossed the 6500 mark or even more (for a few seconds). So, is there a possibility the this excessive revving has caused the oil leakage...? Whatever be the case, I am taking the bike to the SVC tomorrow for knowing the cause. So that, if there be any action required, it may be taken. I am just being a bit extra-cautious because the bike is new. I don't want to leave her unattended in case she requires any help..!

Yes, the oil level is still within the marks and the leak seems to have happened only once, not after that. Your reply was relieving for me as it supposedly suggested that it is nothing too serious to be worried about.

Kindly read my reply to multiple posts above, increasing the rpm to 1400 seems to have done the magic to eliminate the starting problem. Thanks for your help in case of this problem as well. :-)

Take a torch, go below and see if you can see any drops of oil waiting to fall... If you see, pic please
