I had never done it on my 8 year and 59000km old discover 135.

I didn't do but watched the SVC guy doing it on my discover 125, but I don't dare doing it myself

          Done it before but on a friend's P200NS, I don't have a motorcycle.

Are you looking for a DIY guide or just inquiring?
          I am back!

Just take it to your svc and tell them "I want free play around 15mm". Clutch does not rust, buddy. Clutch cable. Yours is not stuck, since you say there is no free play. If it was getting stuck, you will keep getting free play in the lever.

It becomes compulsory when they start making noise. Even if they don't, checking the clearance (gap) according to periodic maintenance schedule is recommended.

Yes, but the service engineers will never follow the protocol and will simply wash-change oil/filter-clutch cable (many a times I have never needed a change but they always did) and finally some adjustments in chain slack, etc. But if you look at the manual, it says over a hundred stuffs....!!!, well it's not their fault, but the managers. They all want to complete all the free services as quick as possible. Esp with Khivraj...!!, Damn, they couldn't spare enough money to repair the water pump (for more than 2 weeks) and wanted asked me 2 days time for my 2nd service. Why on earth would I do that?, leaving my bike to some dumb-a** over night?. I just changed the service station to my nearest and a bit known guy, I felt my 2nd service was a lot better than the 1st with Khivraj...!! Watch out, that there are lots of such Khivraj's out there.... Finding a good svc is a big deal...!!!

Another incident would like to share at this time,

In Jai Bajaj, Chennai, That was the time when I was checking for a 200ns TD, a small ~16/18 + year old guy working(maybe for water wash\cleaning) in their service centre, ripped till the rev-limit many times on a new looking Duke200 as if he was about to take a drag duel, then he was driving recklessly over the corners inside the workshop. I asked about the bike, he said it came for 1st service. Bloody*** I felt really bad for that D200 and the guy who owned it. Mindless people, we pay almost emptying our pocket and these little rascals enjoy all kind of fun in the name called service...!!!

I think that in India only 2% people do tappet adjustment.

Guys help me out. I used to own a hero hunk which I have sold and am now looking for an upgrade. I have shortlisted the NS and the 220. Point in favor of the 220 is the commonness of the bike and the fact that most roadside mechanics can repair it. I want to know if I should go for the NS. I am a relatively sedate rider and rip occasionally. 90% of my riding is in the city. And if it will give decent mileage for it's class. Also will the height of the NS be a problem for me? I could comfortable ride the hunk and had no problem with the bike's height.

220?, dude sorry to ask, are you out of your mind?. 200NS is a lot more ahead of P220 in all department. P220 is about to go obsolete soon. If you are in love with the fairing, try the new 200AS. Even 200NS\AS can be repaired by all workshops. Forget P220. It was a good bike, not any more. 200NS is BEST for City and good for touring, where as 200AS is good for city and BEST for touring. Choice is yours, should you have any doubts, ask us freely.

Any particular niggles in the bike? Any specific thing I should look out for when buying?

Of course it has to be 200ns/as dude. No point in taking 220. 200 has much more advanced technology. And whats your height i am 5'4 and riding 200ns without a prob.

Hi I recently changed my both tyres to pirelli. But still in hard braking at around 80kmph itself I'm getting skidding at back tyre. Normally I'll use both break 50:50. Is it OK?
