Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
Put it in gear and try the same. If the noise still exists you need to open up the clutch side cover and inspect the clutch basket, the plates might not have been torqued properly.Originally posted by deep007 View PostGuys my bike make some noise when netural while engine running... But when i press clutch just 1cm it stops.what could be the reason.

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
I'm also facing the same going left side issue.Originally posted by srisathiyan89 View Post1. Vibration issue fixed( they tightened all engine bolts..problem solved.
2. Bajaj service center puncture walla inspected my tyre and confirmed that i am fooled by stupid local puncture walla..
but he told tyre condition is good only you can drive upto 20k also.
3. They opened my engine and adjusted tappet but still tappet noice when the engine heats up is audible.( same story from banaswadi. 3 spark plug ktm engine bla bla bla)
4. Bike going left side. He adjusted the front suspension/handle bar assembly for 20 min and driven and adjusted... but i feel its still going left side.(I guess its there in all 200 NS, 2 of my friends also confirmed)
Will go soon to SVC for the same

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
The tappets on my bike were adjusted and the knocking stopped but the power loss at high speeds and when the engine heats up is still there.Originally posted by srisathiyan89 View Post1. Vibration issue fixed( they tightened all engine bolts..problem solved.

Tappets will make noise and adjustments will be needed from time to time.
I am always bewildered by seeing other guys zipping past on their NSs and I can barely hear their engines. All I can hear clearly is noise from their chain drives.
Veering to the left is a very common issue. I have not found any permanent solutions either.
And thanks so much for the update.

How does one come to know what is tappet sound and when does it happen (odo reading)?Originally posted by danny king View PostThe tappets on my bike were adjusted and the knocking stopped but the power loss at high speeds and when the engine heats up is still there.

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
Ride the for 10-15 mins so that engine is not cold. Then park it with engine running in neutral. Bend down as if you are looking at engine closely. There will be a tic-tic sound coming from engine, somewhat similar to a barber's scissor. You can also increase the accelerator slightly so that rpm increases slightly to 2500-3000 approx. If you are not able to hear it when idling at 1400-1500 rpm.Originally posted by sieze.s View PostI've also asked the same query earlier but nobody responded

You can also do it on a cold engine, but generally tappet noise is less in a cold engine.
Some amount of tappet noise will be there even in an engine in perfect condition unless the bike is totally brand new. So to identify whether the tappet noise has increased considerably that it needs adjustment, comes with experience.
Do not confuse tappet noise (tic-tic) with another dug-dug sound which may be present in old bikes.
Further adjustment of tappets depends on riding habits and expertise of mechanic. With the tools available to local mechanics and even some authorised service centers and skills of mechanic, it is very difficult to set it 100% perfect, so generally most mechanics adjust it slightly loose as slightly loose tappets do less harm then too tight tappets.
If tappets are tightened too much there will not be any clearance left and upon high revving or high speed runs, valve stem may get bent or valves may not close properly causing leakage and power loss causing bigger problems coz metal expands on heating.
For example- my mechanic always keep my bikes tappets very slightly loose he knows i am very fond of full throttle burts every now and then.
Hope this helps.
danny king: your bike is how many kms old, have you checked/replaced valves.
