Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
Anything around 60W (~5 Amps). More than that, stock wires become warm. I use a 100/90W bulb. I put it in straight and kept it on for just 2 mins. Wiring became warm and the fibre plastic bulb holder almost smoked. Then I used a relay and separate wiring.Originally posted by Mr.Officer View PostWhats the biggest HL bulb we can upgrade to safely w/o ANY mods

Is the mod worth separate wiring and adding a relay, if it makes a significant improvement then I may follow suit?Originally posted by krixna View PostAnything around 60W (~5 Amps). Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
The difference between 100W and the stock 60W is big. A properly set high beam let's you see clearly at least 200m ahead. Cost me around Rs.800 (less than USD15) for the wiring and relay, plus around 300 (USD 5) for the Philips H4 100/90W halogen.Originally posted by Mr.Officer View PostIs the mod worth separate wiring and adding a relay, if it makes a significant improvement then I may follow suit?

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
How is the spread for low beam with your modded setup?,I ask, because the low beam on stock setup is not great (for me) High beam is acceptable though.Originally posted by krixna View PostThe difference between 100W and the stock 60W is big. Also, how easy/difficult was this mod, any issues so far?
Any idea about a good aftermarket H4 60/55 W bulb that gives better ilumination on low beam and hi beam too?Never argue with a fool, for he will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
Low beam 90W is the best part of it. I rarely use high beam except in dark highways. About battery charging when you use 100W, check out this video:Originally posted by Mr.Officer View PostHow is the spread for low beam with your modded setup?,I ask, because the low beam on stock setup is not great (for me) High beam is acceptable though.

Checking battery charging with the 100W bulb ON. Note that chrging is OK at 3000rpm, but goes down if rpm comes down to 1500.
I have tried many halogen bulbs during the last decade or so on cars and bikes. I found Hella gives the best low /high beam spread (visibility), followed by Philips and Halonix. Brightness-wise, all three are almost same with same colour light. Should be noted that Philips gives the best high beam, but low beam spreads out too much. Philips was the stock bulb in my NS
Edit: no issues so far. Installation takes about an hour if you get the kit by ROOTS

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
I switched to Hella 60/55W first and it was better than the stock one. Then I went for Hella Rally 100/90W. I have used only plain halogen bulbs so far. White/blue does no good visibility-wise, and you may die a little earlier getting cursed by the people coming opposite :banghead:Originally posted by Mr.Officer View PostHow is the spread for low beam with your modded setup?,I ask, because the low beam on stock setup is not great (for me) High beam is acceptable though.

Did you order this kit online (outside India) and got it installed locally?Originally posted by krixna View PostLow beam 90W is the best part of it. I rarely use high beam except in dark highways. About battery charging when you use 100W, check out this video:

For now will get a Hella H4 60/55 normal halogen bulb, plug n play and see if it'll suffice.Last edited by sunilg; 05-19-2015, 06:48 PM.Never argue with a fool, for he will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

ROOTS... is Indian. Got it from a local store. I installed it myself following the wiring diagram on the box. Wiring and relay come in separate boxes. No wire cutting. Almost plug n play.Originally posted by Mr.Officer View PostDid you order this kit online (outside India) and got it installed locally?

Never happened in my bike, using Phillips rally 100w since a year without relay, but horns sounds weak sometimes. Gonna get relay fitted soon 😝Originally posted by krixna View PostAnything around 60W (~5 Amps). More than that, stock wires become warm. I use a 100/90W bulb. Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
Guys, I recently asked the guys at SVC to adjust my tappets. During a ride to tumkur, I hit speeds of 120+ constantly.
After taking a smoke break, when I fired up the engine, the tachometer was not working and all the led lights in the console was ON, Speedometer was working though. Once I started riding, I realized the my bike couldn't rev above 4k rpm. Each time I twist the throttle, Bike initially accelerates and after crossing 4k, the ignition is cut off. The bike just doesn't rev. Any reason why this happens? Which part could be at fault here?

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
Hello guys,
i have decided to book a red AS200. The stock tyres are Eurogrips which have got really bad reviews around here.
So i was planning to get them changed on the same day of purchasing the bike. What are good tyres for the 200NS/AS as they are almost the same. The stock tyre size is
Front: 100/80 - 17
Rear: 130/70 - 17
I have read on some thread that the front MRF Zapper FY1 (used in R15) and rear Zapper Vyde (used in Hero Karizma ZMR) are very good. However both arent available in the stock size.
MRF Tyres - Zapper FY1
MRF Tyres - Rear ZAPPER VYDE
What are the other good options? Also dont know much about upsizing in Bike tyres. Is a 110/80 - 17 or 140/70 - 17 good? better? possible? outright stupid?
You may be wondering why im worrying so much even before booking the bike. The reason is that when i changed my car tyres to a good quality, one size bigger tyres i felt a HUGE difference in the ride quality and performance and i was kicking myself for not doing the change earlier. So want to be sure i dont repeat that mistake.
Thanks for all the help.

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
I felt the same way when I upgraded from tube type Bridgestones on rims to Yokohama A drives on Plati alloy wheels for my car. So changed the tires to R15 V2 MRF'S within 200 kms for my NS but I stuck with stock sizes though.Originally posted by guptavis View PostWhat are the other good options? One size up is OK and the principle should apply to bikes as well, 110/80 R17 and 140/70 R17 should fit fine, not sure if, the upsized front will better the handling or ride quality but upsized rear WILL !
MRF are sure an upgrade over eurogrips but the difference is not HUGE, look at Pirrelis, Bridgestones or even Michelins.Never argue with a fool, for he will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.
