  • Re: Rouser (Pulsar) 200 NS questions.

    Greetings All,

Posting after a long time owing to a new job and other reasons

completed 10k on odo - ALL STOCK

Lately, experiencing a flat spot b/w 5-6k rpm

SVC rep cleaned the air filter, all plugs, drained fuel from carb and adjusted AFR but no good.

tried adjusting AFR on my own..from 2 turns out to 4 turns out from fully turned in screw position...but no luck

bike avg is 46 kmpl at 2 turns out and 35 kmpl at 4 turns out (tank full to full) but didnt get rid of flat spot

Just cant cruise at 75-85 kmph which happens b/w 5-6k rpm

bike still pulls great post 7-7.5k and reaches 142 odd speedo indicated

have re-fueled from a different petrol stn but didnt help either

SVC advises against opening the carb and checking

    Any pointers suggestions at all?

    Best
    Abhishek

Never argue with a fool, for he will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

      Thanks,
I had the opportunity to study the service manual and you are absolutely correct, it is an EGR valve. They refer to it as a clean air system. I was considering removing it, but from what i have read it is not worthwhile. it closes at WOT and has little effect on performance. From what I have gathered if you disconnect it and block the opening on the cylinder head,(where it connects to the exhaust circuit) there may be negative effects. The fuel MAP may be different on this model and since vaporization of the air fuel is optimized for use with this system, disconecting it may in fact reduce performance due to incomplete air fuel atomization.
So for my Filipino friends it is probably not a good idea to rip out the airbox and install a small mushroom type air filter. instead drop in a K&N replacement type. Also, while some are installing complete aftermarket exhausts with headers, it is probably safer to just install a slip on muffler and leave the stock header with catalytic converter and low end expansion chamber.

There is some noise coming from rear when going though potholes. I cant find anything loose but feels like chain is somewhat loose So loose chain cause such noise ?

Check the tool kit under the seat. Usually it is the culprit!

                P200NS - Nov' 2013

It sure is a carb problem, SVC is almost scared of opening the carb and inspect/clean it, as per them it may never be the same again and will have never ending issues.

Actual response from SVC " Sir gaadi dil se chalao dimag se nahi" choti moti fault apne aap dur ho jaegi

Note: Bike runs fine from 0-60 kmph - only after 70 kmph in 6th gear it gradually creeps in - If I keep the AFR at 2 turns out the flat spot occurs at 75 - 85 kmph, if the AFR is set at 3, 3.5 OR 4 turns the flat spot occurs at 65ish kmph

Hello Pulsarians...! This is Sushant from Jabalpur. Relatively new to the forum and motorcycling as well. I became an owner of the beautiful beast 200ns just a month ago. I have thoroughly been enjoying my time with her. Just 3 to 4 days ago, I have started getting an issue which I would like to discuss with the experts here as I am novice to motorcycles. The NS drives beautifully, and I'm not pushing her hard because of the run-in period. But it has started making a strange sound which I never heard from the bike in the last 30 days of possession. This sound comes only at lower speeds say between 15 to 25 kmph or while decelerating to those speeds. It's exactly the sound which implies that some part of the bike is rubbing with the other. The sound seems to be coming from the front portion of the bike (as per my observation, could be the other way). One thing for sure: The sound is undoubtedly caused by friction and/or rubbing of one surface with the other. I cannot supply an adjective to the sound but it terrifies me everytime I hear it. Since I'm new to bikes I don't have even a slightest idea. Could anybody please help me to know its cause? I will be going for the first service of the bike within 2 days. Any help or advice in this regard would be appreciable as this issue with my new beauty is giving me sleepless nights as I never expected such an issue within 30 days of ownership...! Thanks.

From your description it should be the front brake pads rubbing against the disc.. If your bike has a centre stand installed then put it on the centre stand and rotate the front wheel and you might be able to reproduce the sound.
You may be hearing it at low speeds only as after a certain speed engine noise /wind noise takes over..
Ask the mech to check for freeplay of front tyre and if needed to rub the brake pads with sand paper.. Nothing major and nothing to worry about

yeah its the chain noise. Two option, either clean it,lube it and tight it or if it doesn't solve then its time to get new set of chain sprocket.

Beast is super smooth lesser vibrations on the handlebar end and pretty happy with the change. Will post the results with regards to the mileage, performance and my experience with this new change. Good throttle responses too, Did a small win on RX100 easily yesterday.
No offence to you or ur beast here. But a proper ported and polished rx100 will leave ns behind to just breathe the blue smoke.

What about the after market spares and accessories for ns? I want clutch and handle bar to be modified for better handling. Any idea in bangalore or in online.

Is it good to go for motul 5100 4t 15w50 for the very first service ...svc doesn't have motul and they are forcing for bajaj dtsi oil.. My ns200's first service is due now.... Should i change dtsi to motul at home after serving vehicle at svc on the same day.... My daily run is abt 25 km... But i m planning to go a 480 to and fro hill ride this month...
                                Suggestions plz?
