Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
Hey guys! hope you all are doing good. Needed to discuss something very urgently...
I own an AS200 which has done around 900 kms. Since it is almost identical to the 200 NS, I thought I could get some valuable advice here.
While returning home, decided to raise the RPMs a little above the usual shift limit of 5k.
To my utter shock, as soon as I crossed 6k, strange metallic rattling noise started emanating!
As I reduced the rpms, the noise went away, but it always came back as soon as I crossed 6k on the tachometer!
It sounds like something is loose in the engine...! Vibes and buzzing is all acceptable, but this type of metallic sound is damn scary!
My engine also has a noticeable metallic ticking sound which can be heard at low speeds.
I'm amazed as to how so many engine troubles can appear in such a new bike.
And yes, I always follow the run-in guidelines to the T...warm the engine properly before riding, etc.
Please help!

hi everyone i want to change my rear tyre but dont want to use soft compound as road condition are not so well in my city and if i use 140 size my acceleration will decrease or i should use 150 size.Originally posted by VaruaG View PostHey guys! hope you all are doing good. Hahaha thats shocking...how can i know the mileage...my company pays me fuel
upto now i used cd deluxe..30 lit are quiet sufficient for 1 month

..now i need to caliculate the total petrol to run 200 ns
...now if i use extra fuel ill be surely get queries from my management

Mine is 2014 December model. My bike shows almost correctly (at least the bars). Means, the bars will come down one by one and when I get the last bar in LCD and fuel icon starts blinking, I'd know that my bike is going to hit the reserve soon in another 10-15 KMs and it always did. While you cannot trust it always and yes it isn't pretty accurate but it just works.
At least it is better but some motorbikes like RE CL350 which my friend rides, doesn't have a fuel meter. But that's another thrill experience, he says
.
For fuel consumption, you can do math. 30 liter in CD deluxe means, roughly you will need 60 liters for 200NS

Not able to identify from the pic. By default the stock is on harder side. You can switch to softer side, but don't expect that to that of a commuter side. I too wanted to do it, but the SVC guy warned me of the handling. With harder setup driving experience, moving to softer setup will result in handling issues (not just corners, but at high speed stability over bumpy roads). Also I'm concerned about touching that, later it might trigger unwanted problems.Originally posted by GauravD View PostHi Guys,
I would like to find out from you if it is possible to modify or swap the NS rear monoshock with that of another bike to make the rear more bearable. Attached below is the rear suspension set up on bike. This pic is not of my bike but has been taken off the net to represent the setting. (Pic courtesy : choosemybike.in)
Could someone please tell me if this is the softest setting for a Jan 2015 make NS ? because if it is I seriously need to think about it. If not what are the workarounds to get a softer ride. I am planning to go to KB to have my pillion seat modded however want to work on the suspension too.
I have read that NS has a non adjustable front fork so i am guessing nothing can be done about it. or can there be a solution ?
P.S. I am not a corner craver so some loss of cornering ability due to suspension variations will not really matter
Appreciate your help guys

The trick is to fill the petrol to full tank as many times as possible.in that way the indicator always stays calibrated.if one keeps on filling for 300-400 RS then it gets calibrated accordingly .
Regarding shocks no never change the stock one.you will start having back pain arms pain hand pain wrist pain etc.stock settings is best.also tok softer then you mind end up having tok much rebound which is pretty bad when you are going at high speeds

Re: Assistance needed with reqar and front shocks of Pulsar 200 NS
No idea if the suspension can be Swapped, if it can be i would also like Fz 16's Suspension.Originally posted by GauravD View PostHi Guys,

the snap you have uploaded is having the Monoshock setting in softest possible setting which is not much good while carrying a pillion.
check this post if you want to adjust the MonoShock http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/help-me/26003-nitrox-mono-suspension-diy-adjustment.html#post941401200NS 25K kms / RE500 7k kms / Electra 30k kms / P150 80K Kms(SOLD) / i10 40k Kms (SOLD) / Tata NEXON 2K Kms

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
I am usually a careful rider and I focus on smooth acceleration and braking when riding. Recently I was at a signal one morning. Since there was no traffic in front of me, for fun, I took off the moment the lights turn green. The engine growled beautifully and responded well. A guy on a unicorn tried to keep up. It became a short drag race. In a few seconds, I left the unicorn comfortably behind. I could hear the unicorn screaming. I must have used only 50% of the NS's potential. At no point was the bike stressed. That day I was able to hit the sweet spot between rev speed and gear changes. The engine seemed to be happy and growling after eating the unicorn for breakfast.
This is a beautiful machine.
Kindly note that I am not advocating rash driving at all.

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
Good to see that , but 23 bhp vs 13 bhp . This seems like little bit biased doesnt it ? Also please ignore wannabe racers. With more displacement comes greater responsibility.

You don't have to be responsible while riding a bicycle, since it doesn't have an engine and displacementOriginally posted by RohIIT View PostGood to see that , but 23 bhp vs 13 bhp . As someone in a YouTube video said, the best way to win a street race is not to take part in it. I admit racing is fun and thrilling, but only on the tracks. Ride sane on the public roads.I am back!

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
Well, The actual character of NS will show up only post 7K RPM. Otherwise it will behave like tamed Tiger. Start shifting at the Torque band, and you will see her character going wild. On contrast, Unicorn is a smooth machine with more torque than Pulsar 150 or others, that's why still Uni160 beats Gixxer in a drag. But considering it's capacity, going beyond 70-80 kph will make the engine roar harsh for even such a smooth engine. Now NS will not loose it's breath even up to 120 kph, provided if you don't mind about wind resistance post 100 kph. NS can almost comfortably face head to head with RC200 esp in City(as both weigh the same, and both the riders weigh the same with RC has just a little power). With D200, things will always be favorable for Duke 200 in City, except for long rides.Originally posted by OccasionalWanderer View PostI am usually a careful rider and I focus on smooth acceleration and braking when riding. But don't get carried away... We own more responsibilities. If you are giving up a drag race, you are actually not losing, but rather giving their life back to them. Ride safe.

Hahaha.... Even riding a bicycle one needs responsible at least to give way for oncoming vehicles
Track ride will be the best place, agreed. but on track, even R15 will beat NS to pulp
unless it has more stretches to catch up for.

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
This is my ~first post in xbhp and I am not sure whether this is a place to post this.
I have a black Pulsar 200 NS clocked ~5000kms which is beautifully running well. I am getting an average of 40-42kmpl on highway commute at speeds close to 80kmph.
The reason for me to post this query is that I am looking for a lockable plastic box for Pulsar 200 NS. Had if this is another ordinary bike, the market has variety of options. But for P200NS I do not find any options and I find it difficult to take my lunch pack and raincoats around.
I explored viaterra and similar luggage options which are not useful for me as they are expensive (to get stolen as a whole) and I cannot leave it in public parking areas unattended. I saw few Indonesian/Philippines site displaying boxes and that is what I look for.
Do you know any where in Chennai these kind of options are available? I don't think it is available in store as such. I saw this luggage carrier modification and tried to contact them through comments, but no response so far.
Any thoughts will be of a great help.
Thanks,
Narayanan

Thank you for your explanation. By shifting at the torque band, do you mean, shift gears at 7,000rpm? I usually shift around 4,500 - 4,000 rpm.
Thank you everyone for advising safe riding. I see that after owning the NS for some months, I have gotten slowly carried away. Power does corrupt. Will be more safe and wise from now on.

You can try riders ranch in Besant Nagar. The shop owner is friendly and helpful. Even if he doesnt have it, he will try to get it for you or atleast advice you where to get it.Originally posted by Narayanan View PostThis is my ~first post in xbhp and I am not sure whether this is a place to post this.
