Dude, any bike exposed to prolonged rains would create problems. So better avoid it. If you can't find a shelter, buy a cover. This is one thing that I would not test on my bike. Problems you face because of this could be - Water sipping in tank & electrical system malfunctions.Originally posted by himanshpahwa View PostIs it safe to ride a new bike in rain?

Yes you can ride the new bike in Rains. But once you park the bike after riding in rains make sure you clean the "rustable" parts & park it in a shed or cover it properly with waterproof cover. My RE have some rusted parts because our maid unknowingly threw some water on it & I didnt clean it for days.Originally posted by himanshpahwa View PostIs it safe to ride a new bike in rain?

Please don't compare modern 'plastic' bikes with REs. My best friend has been staying @Worli Sea Face for the past 3.5 years. He used to park his RE Thunderbird CI in an open parking (which is like 120 meters from the Arabian Sea). Within 8 months the bike was converted into a rust bucket. So, disgusted, he moved the RE to his Nasik residence and brought his (2 year old then) 2007 Pulsar 180 UG3 to his Worli residence. Till date he parks his Pulsar at the exact same spot where he parked his RE (for the last 3 years) and as of now, there is hardly any rust to talk about. I mean the only parts that have rusted are the parts where paint/powder coating had chipped off due to nicks and scratches.Originally posted by ASSASSIN07 View PostYes you can ride the new bike in Rains. Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Anant, thats what I meant by "Rust-able" parts in my post. If there are any, they need to be taken care of during rainy season.Originally posted by antz.bin View PostPlease don't compare modern 'plastic' bikes with REs. Btw can anyone confirm if this bike has that stupid BCU thingy like the earlier pulsars....its very irritating actually... Hope it doesn't have it... And mileage of 48 is too good man
i am happy with anything above 40
still no display bike in kolkata...

Rahul, as far as I know, 200NS doesn't have the BCU. BCU would have ensured the self-cancelling indicator as well, but was not included to keep the cost as low as possible. BTW in 3 year old 220, BCU work's flawlessly, even after my electrical mods. But did had problem with it in my previous P180UG3, why do find it irritating?Been There, Done That; Better!

but this bike have that auto switch off for the healights so i was guessing that it might have the bcu... Actually i find it irritating because the bcu fully controls the electricals...and its not easy to by-pass it...specially while fitting a hid...in 220 it doesn't create a problem though...
and AFAIK though pulsars have full DC, fitting a higher wattage bulb dont increase the light coz the current is supplied by the bcu as per a 35w headlight only..
correct me if i a wrong...

As far as headlight is concerned, 200 NS has 55W lamp which does the job really well. I tested it during my early morning ride where road was completely dark. Just low beam was sufficient & high beam only adds to the glory. Spread is wide too. I still may wan to add projector with the existing halogen. Just a thought though, not really sure if I will actually do it.Originally posted by Rahulbarik View Postoh thanx man you made dx day

And if its a BCU thing, then I am interested to know if its configurable. I especially want the back lit of console & console itself to be always ON when the ignition is turned ON using key. I know its too early to try these things or rather even to ask. Just being wishful here

man i know ns have 55w headlights... I was talking about BCU in earlier pulsars. Its a real pain... Even i am waiting for ns. My first mod will be the tires, 2nd and my most imp mod is changing the stupid handles...will go for the 220 handles if there is space between the handle and tank, 3rd is hidOriginally posted by The Zmaniac View PostAs far as headlight is concerned, 200 NS has 55W lamp which does the job really well.
