just for your knowledge profile has to calculated according to the dimensions of the tyre 130/70 is the tyre dimension not profile....to calculate profile for 130/70 tyre u have to take 70% of 130 that is 91 and accordingly profile of 150/60 tyre is 60% of 150 that is 90.whereas tyre profile of 140/70 is 98.hence creating a vast difference btween 130/70 and 140/70's tyres profile whereas the difference btween 130/70 and 150/60 is only 1mm,hence it doesnt create much difference...anyways these are a few misconceptions in india so doesnt make a difference if u didnt know abt it......

Re: Pulsar 200 NS
How to check engine oil level: how do I do it;
Put your bike on central stand, not only this but make sure the ground you place your bike is perfectly leveled.
Start the engine, let it run for 4-5 min.
Turn the engine off, wait for couple of minutes(3-4) then check the level.
*never heard checking engine oil level, when the engine is cold
Edit: the above method is recommended by Yamaha India, for their bikes(which usually has a dipstick not a inspection window)

how are you checking the oil level? the correct way to check is not on the side stand or center stand. the bike should be on both wheels perpendicular to ground when checking the oil level.Originally posted by Boris View PostI am facing a strange issue.. My engine oil level is way below 'min'. Infact its like there's no engine oil. But the strange part is that i had changed the engine oil to motul 5100 just 300kms back. That too by myself. I can guarantee i had put in 1.2L of engine oil. But now when i check my oil through the oil level checking window, its fully empty. I can't see any oil in that inspection window at all.
Please help! What should i do?
Check for any oil leaks too.Riding a bike is an art - A thing that you do because you feel something inside...!!

1600kms+ on odo and changed to Motul today. An immediate difference was felt...the engine sounded smoother and gear shifts were smooth and shifted with a nice *click*.
Had vibes between 4k-5k but they too have disappeared now. Bliss!!

Err.. rahul what is front racer? Me too have that issue of sound from the front area. Thought it'll be from the front shocks... annoying and sometimes even makes me think whether my bike will fall apart..Originally posted by Rahulbarik View Postits coming from the front racer... Get it tightened and it will be solved.... @nishant: me too have that nail biting bug...
and yes the bike does have a mind of its own...at night when the temperature drops to around 15 degrees, the bike runs so damn smooth.....Riding is not about destinations, it's about journeys.

Touring +ves & -ves
Went on 320 kms of ride yesterday with some xBhp Gujarat members. Ahmedabad to Vijaynagar & back.
The ride involved highways , twisties , & tad off road riding.
Bikes involved were :
2 CBR 250 Rs ( one of them was fully track tool with LeoVince Cobra exhaust,Performance air filter , PSDs , remapped ECU , bigger 44 bit sprocket ( as he's into stunting ) , carbon fibre body kits ,Projector headlamps & what not !
2 REs
1 R15 V1.0 with performance air filter
1 P200 NS ( mine )
1 P220
Started @ 6:00 am in the morning...lubed the chain of all the rides with Motul chain spray...
Started the day by maintaining speeds b/w 70-90 kph as the sun was still not up...
But while coming back to ahmedabad in the evening did constant 120 + speeds for the first time & I have to say that the bike doesn't give much confidence above 125 kph ( GPS reading* )...especially with the naked styling & those eurogrips...very often I felt as if the rear tyre is wobbling above 130s which I confirmed later with a fellow rider...a lot of riders ( including me ) believe that its because of very less surface contact of the rear tyre with the road...barely an inch with the rear tyre and 1 cm with the front one...& that too with a hard compound...hence even minor faults on the road made their presence felt...though the eurogrips were doing fine below 105 kph...but still not offering high speed cornering capability...which I noticed very well when I hit a corner @ 110 kph & felt that it was my day...but managed to hit the brakes really nice & didn't let the tyres to lock...(the brakes on the NS are really really nice for high speeds )...but made a point not to take the leap of faith any more and took the rest of the turns @ 100 or less...all the way people were staring @ us...I guess they've never seen bikers to do 130+ speeds...hehe
Though after about 250 kms or so came across a Ghunghru kind of sound coming from somewhere below the bike.its not very loud but can be heard while revving the bike hard while standstill...I'll try to figure this out later...
In total had 3 crashes. One when the CBR 250R ( Stunt rider ) was trying to do a slide off road. One when the other CBR 250R (ABS model) guy (he's a novice rider , still learning) was taking a turn ...but no injury...even I crashed on a goat ( the first crash of my life

!!! ) when the goat changed its trajectory all of a sudden & I had to brake really hard or else I'd had been serving Mutton biryani by night...

...it didn't got hurt though & neither did I...the bike fell on the left side but not even a single scratch on the bike , not even on the leg guard or handlebars & I was back on the road within 5 seconds...the coordination b/w riders was really commendable...with all the special signs we made to assess the riders coming behind us with bumps, potholes , dogs , when to rip , when not to rip, etc...
Did a lot of ripping and burnouts on the NS...& boy , its too easy to do burnouts & power slide on the NS...piece of cake...will try to upload some pics soon...
Inferences :
P 200 NS feels puny against the CBR 250 R...have to say that CBR 250R is an awesome bike...I'm not saying that P 200 NS is anyway not good enough...its still a potent machine...but when the CBRs were doing 140s & 160s ( GPS reading )...a stock P 200 NS just doesn't seem adequate...
For high speed touring ( 120 kph + ) & cornering the NS demands a better set of tyres...I've set my eye on the Dunlop Tuff Grip 140/70 for more surface contact...
All in all I feel much more confident about my bike after this ride.Had a helluva of fun.

Got a lot of appreciation for my riding from fellow riders. Especially for my ripping capabilities.

yup i know thats why i said itOriginally posted by s1d View Postit's the cold air that's causing this, ICE's love cold air
cooler air has a higher density, thus containing more oxygen per volume unit than warmer air . and on a side note maybe your afr is not at its optimum, start by cleaning the air filter and later get the carb tuned.
the difference is huuuuuge.....
haha lol..Originally posted by mayank.travadi View Postumm what is the front racer..googleing gave no results apart from some racing photos of bikes :P
well i did post on the last page that i removed the "nimbu mirchi" from the front number plate and the helmet lock(cycle lock whatever) and the noise is gone...or atleast i didnt hear it..
thts the ball bearing of your handle..
do keep a watch on the svc mechs when they pour the oilOriginally posted by ysingh View PostHi Bud!
Changed the Engine oil... filled in 1.2L and the bike is doing fine!
When changing the oil, the drained oil was measured and it was only 800ml... after riding only 1050-1100 kms!! Seems the service guys did not put proper quantity of oil. Not changed any setting and getting 40+ with sane riding no hard acceleration
myth is using motul 3100 semi-synth... the pic u posted is 7100 full synth single ester... i am using it... costed 720rs/litre... awesum oil i must say...Originally posted by abhiuppi View PostGood to know.

it feels like the handle will come off right? its definately the loose racer... its the handle ball bearing located at joint of the fork-T and the chasis...where the handle rotatesOriginally posted by Arun Magus View PostErr.. rahul what is front racer? go any roadside mech and tell them to tighten it...
if problem still stays then its loose panels

Hi , i just started riding a month ago , i have this slight problem with the ns that it gets stuck in between two gears , happens rarely but , when i hit up or down it doesnt move , i have to release the clutch slightly and i hear a thud and it goes back into gear , it usually happens when i hold the clutch for a while at 30-40 and lightly apply the brakes as there's traffic ahead of me , is it something im doing wrong and affects the bike ? or is it common ? also what revs do you usually keep at run-in (<2000kms) i usually keep it below 4k as im scared going higher will kill the mileage

firstly, never hold hold the clutch when you are slowing down...it may lead to loss of traction from the rear wheel.. leave the clutch as it is and press it only when u feel that the bike will stall, downshift 1 gear and and again leave the clutch... repeat it until you come to a halt..Originally posted by gotodeepak View PostHi , i just started riding a month ago , i have this slight problem with the ns that it gets stuck in between two gears , happens rarely but , when i hit up or down it doesnt move , i have to release the clutch slightly and i hear a thud and it goes back into gear , it usually happens when i hold the clutch for a while at 30-40 and lightly apply the brakes as there's traffic ahead of me , is it something im doing wrong and affects the bike ? or is it common ? also what revs do you usually keep at run-in (<2000kms) i usually keep it below 4k as im scared going higher will kill the mileage
note:- make the downshifts fast all in less than a second... keep practicing and all will be good...
as for the gear getting stuck, its typical bajaj...leave the clutch then again try shifting... if it still happens, give part throttle and shift... this gear shifting issue is bugging me big time... when ever i do a drag, i have mis shifts each and every time... feels like kicking the gearbox... and about the running in, there is no hard and fast rule about run-in revs... ride as you like, exploit higher rpms and have fun.... the only thing you should avoid during runin is redlining... mileage wont drop... rest assured.. it has nothing to do with mileage... even after so much ripping i get 40+ when riding sensibly...and 35 with hardcore ripping with a very rich mix... mileage is all about riding style, quality of fuel, tyre pressure and environment...
Happy Riding!!!!Last edited by Rahulbarik; 12-10-2012, 12:02 PM.This Tail Is Japani Tail (spell as you like)

... So you guys just rode up and came back down ?
