It's always better to finish your run ins in short distance rides rather than long rides. It will be ideal to do it city conditions where you can do occasional ripping. But make sure that you dont have to do high revvs in lower gears. keep it around 4-5 k max engaging all the gears and occasional rips upto 7-8k rpm in higher gears, without rides longer than 30 mins. And alas, regards for the ride..

    • Finally had a chance to push my bike to its limit....
Rode from Chennai to Tirchy (350km) Pure highway trip
During the entire trip never had any problem of that sort except one during the final leg.
1.The bike suddenly slowed down with a jerk as if there is no fuel in it(trip meter it is showing three bars and there is no reserve indicator light too).I slowed and tried to start my bike again nope it is not getting life.Waited for few minutes turn the petrol knob to reserve and waited again .Alaahhh it comes to life. Now the trip meter is showing one bar with reserve indicator on.OMG waht has just happened?? Anybody has faced any problem ..Cant trust the trip meter it seems.

Total time:5 hours i guess started by 1330 and reached by 1845.
Had 2 pitstop(one for petrol refuelling and butt break)
      Average speed(80-100kmph)
      Top:132kmph
Noticed anything pecuilar with bike:1.sudden bar drop in trip meter
2.Can notice considerable vibration around 120 in foot pegs
3.Stock seat is really a pain for long distance trip(have to make it comfortable)
Mileage:around 35-40 guess didnt calculate..... rough estimate
      Total ODO reading now:2700km

Anybody up for a ride from Tirchy to chennai on sunday morning returning back

Did'nt you face a drop in throttle response before the bike slowed down? And ya, the fuel indicator is all crappy. But it is a boon for guys like me when not so close friends ask for the keys... turn it on, and tada!!! the fuel meter shows 2-3 bars even with half tank petrol..

lol...same thing happened with me @ 120 kph...when suddenly it felt like the throttle wire is screwed...tried to crank the engine multiple times before the bike came to a halt......then switched the knob to reserve & viola !! Bike cranked & ready to go...didn't feel any lag before this happened...

Guys the fuel indicator is not to be checked while the bike is in motion as the fuel is moving around in the tank and the sensors hence give a false reading .

Correct way AFAIK is take the bike off the side stand ,straighten it,wait for few seconds and then turn the key to on and check the fuel bars .

            • I had my second service done around 3000 kms ago and I had poured Motul 7100, from the last few days the bike wasn't running smooth and when I checked the oil level through the window it didn't show any level so I decided to top up from the second bottle I had and it took around 400ml of oil before the oil again started appearing in the inspection window.....

Any idea where did all the oil went...??? I have heard that FS oil do tend to vaporize but is it this much....???

Must've heard from Shiba. You can ride mine anytime. Yes I remember you told me about this g2g (Read it on K-bikers fb page too). I'll be in Mayapur for the weekend because I'm officially unemployed/no studies for the next 3 months So thought of starting the holiday season with this.
lol..every time something or the other keeps you engaged whenever we have ride... do join next time

Done 1337km & by now I've understood what to do & what not to do when riding. I'm still running Bajaj engine oil but my gears hardly ever get stuck now. Just have to know proper way of shifting etc.
I plan to switch to Motul 3100 soon at 2000km perhaps.... but I have a question. How & where exactly am I supposed to get it my oil changed ? Bajaj SVC guys have their own opinions & I'm sure they will strictly suggest that I get the oil changed at next service only which comes at 4500-5000km.. even that Bajaj genuine oil only.
also how to fix the stiff ride quality ? tire pressure hmm ?
change the oil at home or take it to any roadside mechanic, give him 10rs and ask him to change the oil.. simple and for stiff ride lower the suspension to its minimum and maintain around 28psi on rear... that would solve the problem i dont face any problem even after keeping the suspension at two points less than maximum...i loove stiff suspensions... i'll soon change to stiffest setting...

do as much highway runs as possible with speeds varying from 55 to 90 kmph and occassional touching of 100kmph...(all in 6th gear). this will open up the engine in a very smooth and gradual manner and keep the engine smooth... run in happens in the first 100kms of riding a new bike... the next 400 kms is the transition period... after than there is simply no runin involved... its just a precautionary measure taken...nothing else... enjoy your ride man! let it get accustomed to your riding style from after 500 kms only... all will be good... happy riding..

yeah thats crazy fuel gauge.... the fuel gauge works in the following manner for ns.... it will show full tank even after using up half tank fuel... and when there is 6 litres of fuel left, one bar equals to approx to 750ml of petrol..... btw this bike can easily swallow 15 litres of fuel tried it.. now before you guys hop in and say that the oil dispenser of the particular pump was faulty and calibrated wrongly, i'll ans it myself... i filled petrol not from the pump, but from a jar of 10 litres asd then from 2 and 1 litre bottles... so no cheating... accurate measurement
btw you found the seat bad? i found it to be extremely comfortable...better than earlier pulsars... even for continuous highway ride for close to 200 kms, i didn't have any sort of trouble...simply nothing...then waited for 1 hour and returned through the same 200 kms road... onlything pained was my left shoulder coz i was carrying a heavy backpack...

                  i hit reserve
                  went to petrol pump
                  got exact 9.6 litres in..

                  2.4(reserve)+9.6 = 12

now if u say is true...then reserve for me should be 5.4 litres..

                  is it?

i dont think so a i have tried and reserve is almost 2.5 litres...

Each time I finalize on NS, you guys(owners) post some problems making me to think again and again, and go back to my research (reading forums) . Research is more difficult than buying.. This is not an easy situation.

is this a problem ? - certainly not its just err in reading the gauge .

and one thing how much ever research you do you wont find a better bike in this price range .

I have been riding my bike for almost 4 months now and there are no issues at all ,it runs like a charm .

Man, this is the second time you've came up with some unbelievable numbers..
15 litres is impossible. Little over 12 is what the limit is. I always do a "tank-full" and till date have done it for some 7-8 times. I can write it on a bond paper for you. :P U sure the tank isn't leaking?? LOL

Well, jokes apart. I guess the seat issue is subjective. Even i find the seat uncomfortable. My butt is perpetually sore since i bought my NS. I gotta see for some better seat soon.
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference...

                          • Regarding the Seats and ride quality

                            I should second Vineet here,

Did a 300Km ride in NS, with my Wife as Pillion ( on a single day back and forth with out much of rest, took enough butt breaks though).

Bangalore to Shivanasamudram Falls, Didn't get any complaints from her regarding the seat comfort, on the contrary she was all praises.

She even commented the riding comfort was better than our Bullet Classic 350 ( don't eat me alive here guys, even I agree to the fact (Vibration in new 350) for the new twin spark engine and the stock seats the vibration really sets in after 90KMPH).

The bike was a breeze to ride.

                              • I am contemplating on a new bike purchase and P200 is what i am thinking of right now.I will be using it for occasional city riding and touring every 3 or 4 months Eventhough the bike is VFM with all the tech and gadgetry, looks like the initial batches had issues like disc wobbling, hard gears and vibrations.Any idea if these have been taken care off in the current batches?I have high expectations on the refinement front as i am upgrading from the Honda Unicorn..I guess my max speed on highway will be around 100-110kmph.Is wind blast an issue at these speeds considering that the P200NS is naked.

Has anybody installed a visor/firing to evade the wind blast?

My other options is the P220F-proven for touring with those amazing projector lights and fairing for highways and Karizma zmr.
