I try to get as much near to 100 on 4th as possible before changing to 5th. Rev up to 120 and change to 6th.Originally posted by pgaucha View Postcan you mention the gear shift you make at respectively speed to maintain constant 120 or 130... i am comfortable with 100-110 kmph only.
My sitting position is normally slightly crouched (Cause of my back pain) gripping the tank with knee. While speeding I am completely crouched with chest completely resting on the tank and vision on road (Cause of my neck pain). This was how I was accelerating and maintaining high speeds.
Gear change : RPM
1st : 6.5k
2nd : 7k
3rd : 8k
4th : 8.5k
5th : 9k
6th : 8.5k
Well I literally tried to do a 10k figure on 6th gear but that won't happen with me aboard and the wind opposing me. But when it did happen at Katraj Tunnel, I was seriously awestruck!
@xtremevicky : Get Rubber gromets installed. They are available at every Probiking centre. Tighten up nuts and bolts. Vibes are due to loose bolts causing more vibes.
btw, My service centre gave me a call today evening asking to come with my bike to install the gromets :P They don't know I guess I already did the Jugaad which inspired the rubber grommet thing
@Edit: Ohh.. I forgot to mention I ordered a custom Carbon fiber mudguard and carbon fiber Tail and tail cowl from a local guy. Asked if he could make me the tank entirely of carbon fibre but he refrained. Waiting for the carbon fibre parts. Costs I was not made aware of although I was notified that he would try to make them as cheap as possible.Last edited by utsavchs; 12-17-2012, 12:06 AM.....Riding the Indian Monster : 200NS....

Anyone from Bangalore knows best place to get this done ?

I agree with you there. NS does require frequent gear changes.. you can either ride it hard & fast with higher revs .. maintaining above 5-6k... or ride it at low revs which might make some ppl irritant cause gear changes will be more frequent in traffic.. otherwise engine knocking happens.Originally posted by sarthakrocks02 View Postany advice to reduce the vibs
except from tightening all the bolts ??
and does anyone else found this annoying that we need to chance gears really quick in NS ? or its just me....the time i want to cruse or in traffic its a pain
about the vibrations.. tightening the bolts isn't gonna do much I think. I've got a suggestion. Just bear with it & give your bike some time (if it's still in run-in period). My own bike has/had vibrations.. had great under seat vibrations. But I've found that these vibs are reduced on their own by time while some vibs even disappear. I expect even lesser vibs once I switch to Motul oil as I approach 2000km on ODO (currently running bajaj oil & vibs are minimal). I feel the highlighted portions in the picture are the only carelessly designed parts in this bike imo.. vibrations occur mostly there for a reason.
Another reason for vibs is the gear shifting itself.. prevent vibs by shifting at the correct engine revs. Like if you rev the engine on 1st-2nd gear to an extent that causes vibrations.. then shift to next gear.. the vibs will continue no matter how many gears you shift into.

Sorry of the OT -
Guys, I have been riding bikes from last 3 yrs, but this is the First time I bought myself a pair of gloves (Alpeinstar).
I rode my bike with those gloves today, but to my surprise, the ride experience deteriorated. Mainly because, i was hardly getting around 50% of feedback of the accelerator and the clutch.
Now is it like that only, or will my experience get better with more rides with the gloves??
@Utsav - Pls do post the pics once u get the CF mud-guards installed on ur ride.. , and BTW, congrats on ur completion of SS. Best of Luck for getting the certificate..sigpicRelationships change, evolve, and it goes deep.

Thanks Shibadip da.
With gloves, it depends on many things like size and grip.
The glove should be little big (ek kor boro) than your thumb size. Rubber Grip/other materials on the palm that helps gripping would help you grip the accelerator in turn make your response quicker. Air humidity also plays a respectable role in this. Gloves should be fit-to-skin. Adding to that, practice would make you better with the gloves. Although you would require to use 10% more effort than regular to twist unless it is a leather fir-to-skin one.....Riding the Indian Monster : 200NS....

Since I ride often with our naked wolves bangalore gang ,I get to hear the wonderful exhaust note all the time as most of them dont ride below 6K during trips .I let them overtake me just to hear the sweet musicOriginally posted by broken87 View PostDoes it sound that good above 7k ? Cause I do it all the time inside my sector lul .. around my residence & elsewhere... many heads turn when I do it.
I don't know how NS sounds like above 7k as a spectator cause high speeding NS isn't a common sight & all the NS riders I see seem to ride it at medium speeds ? idk why.
I do enjoy when the engine grunts at higher revs when riding myself but riding at medium speeds.. yea I think it could sound better there. Another fact that above 6-7k my bike engine sounds a bit rough ? May be Motul semi synthetic will solve this issue.

You will get so much used to gloves that later on you will never ride and would feel weird without them... personal exp....Originally posted by Shibadip View PostSorry of the OT -

Today I complete 6 months of Ownership Of the Pulsar 200NS... Many people have many issues with this bike, I also have some issues, but I comfortably neglect them because there are better things to do with this bike, rather than sit and crib about its negatives.
I have taken the bike through extremes of bad road conditions, through knee deep waters, through smooth 4 laned highways, Never has it complained. It brings a smile across my face when I twist my wrist and I see 140+ kmph on my speedo, It also makes me smile when I ride at <15 kmph on the bad roads ( courtesy its handling). Everytime I just say "Wow"
There was a time when I used to get astonished when I calculated my mileage and realized that It is giving me 45+ kmpl, and today after 6 months when I calculate my mileage I get 30-35 kmpl, others might crib about it, but to be honest I know my riding style and I am more than happy with the figures.
Yes I faced a lot of issues, Yes I had to visit the SVC time and again, yes there were times when I got frustrated at the after-sales service, but then one single ride made me forget everything, we have done miles together, and I am sure we will go a long way before parting ways.
I got shocked once when the ignition died off while I was doing 120+ kmph, It was a terrible moment for me, but in the next 5 minutes I realized that the fuel had run into reserve and I didnt understand the jerks wither because I was enjoying too much or given the speed that I was doing there were no jerks at all. After that I knew, mu bike will not betray me, so there is no reason to panic.
The confidence that the bike has installed in me, made the take unknown routes druing my True Wanderers ride, I rode through imaginary roads, places where if anything happened then I would have to walk atleast 25-30 kms to find help, I still ventured into them because I had confidence in my NS.
Like many of you I also speak to my bike, it never complains that "you ride so rashly, you do this you do that and all", that makes me realize that I dont have any right to complain about the minor issues. Yes vibrations are there, yes the tyres are 'not-the-best-in-class', yes the horn is not loud, yes the mechanics are not well trained, yes some of my bike parts rusted and some started to loose its color, AND YES i call them minor issues, because my bike satisfies me when it comes to the major part _ RIDING...
I feel sad as I could ride it as much as I wanted to in these last 6 months.... but I am looking forward to a long-term relationship with my bike...
Some pics (sorry for the Wrangler Logo)
