Congrats on buying this wonderful machine ! Wish u many happy miles.Originally posted by twinblades View Post
Question1: Should I stick to the DTSI oil for the 1 service or should i switch to motul? If motul, which version and why?
Question2: I was planning for trip after 1000kms to Nandhi Hills. We will be riding fast and hard. Since the manual says 2000kms Run-in period. is this a good idea? Should i wait?
ANS 1 : If u are looking for the best for your bike then chuck DTSi and switch to Motul 3100 Gold on first service. For first service try to take you steed to Auto Service Banashankari, they are the best, and you can get explanations about every oil and its effects. Then you can decide yourself.
ANS 2 : After 1000kms you can start opening the throttle, dont stay at higher RPMs for long but yeah you can give short bursts. I went to Nandi Hills the third day after buying my bike, riding at 55-60kmph on NH7 was very boring.ATGATT! There are many wonderful riders/drivers out there who would intrude in your riding space without any notice. Be prepared. Stay Safe.

bro don't get me wrong, I know u aren't complaining. I just tried to let rixBhp know that what happened with your bike is perfectly normal. except the misleading fuel gauge of course.. even that is random. fuel gauge sometimes give accurate readings too.Originally posted by pgaucha View Postboss i am not complaining about the bike.Just my one cents which i encountered during my journey
Does it sound that good above 7k ? Cause I do it all the time inside my sector lul .. around my residence & elsewhere... many heads turn when I do it.Originally posted by Vineet_200 View PostHey have you taken the bike above 7k RPM ,the bike makes the a sexy exhaust note at this rpm , change gears at this RPM and you get the superbike kinda sound .
I don't know how NS sounds like above 7k as a spectator cause high speeding NS isn't a common sight & all the NS riders I see seem to ride it at medium speeds ? idk why.
I do enjoy when the engine grunts at higher revs when riding myself but riding at medium speeds.. yea I think it could sound better there. Another fact that above 6-7k my bike engine sounds a bit rough ? May be Motul semi synthetic will solve this issue.
edit-
arey.. somebody clear this up. if I change engine oil myself to Motul instead of Bajaj genuine/ does it not void the warranty ? There is something written in the manual idk.. What if they catch it on the 2nd service that I've been running on Motul instead of their Bajaj oil.Last edited by broken87; 12-14-2012, 03:59 PM.

Hello all, Completed IBA Saddle Sore 1600k ride successfully on the NS. Midway the saree guard's nut fell off and by the time when nearly 1400kms +/- 10% were done, the entire saree guard fell off! In the last 100kms there was a strange noise coming from the headlight portion when around 90.
DATA:
Average speed maintained excluding breaks : 84kmph
Cruising speeds : 130~148kmph
Longest distance without a single break : 289kms
Total fuel used : 34 Liters
Total distance covered : 1646kms
Average Mileage figure : 48kmpl
btw, log n pics coming soon......Riding the Indian Monster : 200NS....

As I posted earlier about the brake pedal and foot peg positioned are so aligned that they are not at all giving a comfortable posture, I tried to change the brake pedal position. Unscrewed the side nut, removed the spring attached to it (for brake lights), removed the brake pedal, installed the brake pedal by rotating it somewhat clockwise, attached the brake light spring. Done..!!
But wait wait..
When I started the bike I saw that the brake light is always ON..!! This problem was solved by adjusting the spring position because a nut is given in which the spring is installed. Problem Solved..
Is It??
NOT AT ALL
When I checked by rear brakes they were not working at all. What I did was again made it like it was before and still facing the same issue of brake pedal. I want the foot position like we have in gear pedal, somewhat tilted forwards.
Tried the idea of a fellow xBHPian to install something on foot peg and hence make the height difference between brake pedal and foot peg. That didn't work too. Sorry mate. What I felt was a height difference in both foot pegs hence again uncomfort.
Anyone with a help??Riding a bike is an art - A thing that you do because you feel something inside...!!

Well now I run castrol power1 FS and my warranty is continued, even after the 2nd service. When it comes to engine health, it'll run just fine on any good quality oil of the right grade. For NS, 15w50 or 20w50 is recommended. But 10w50 wouldn't cause any harm and will help in cold starts.Originally posted by broken87 View PostDoes it sound that good above 7k ? @broken87, As for the sound, it's addictive above 6-7k rpm. Night 10PM here, the roads are empty and well lit with streetlights. Ripping away, I take in my dose of awesome sound
. Yes, it's definitely a head turner during the day. Like you, even I've NEVER seen another NS ripped. Only, I let my friend ride once and got to know how good it sounds when ripped.
Wow! Was expecting a quick one but not THIS QUICK! Hope the pics and the triplog are coming just as quick!Originally posted by utsavchs View PostHello all, Completed IBA Saddle Sore 1600k ride successfully on the NS. had my second service now, had complaint of not seen radiator working after completing 1600km till now, btw now am at 4700km. After insisting a lot, they checked for hours and said sensor has gone kaput most probably, and they ordered the part, it will take 1 month to reach...
Anyway my handlebar has lot vibrations but not uncomfortable, and bike also makes tick tick sound when going to pot holes on road. everytime i complain about this, they just tighten the racer, but still i get that sound.. after i complained again, he said it might be chain, but after tightening chain, its still making sound. And i'm sure its coming from front.
help me guys...

Went to the svc 2 days back to get rid of the "ghunghru" sound coming from the engine portion after ripping the bike for over 360 kms....also pointed the fairing noise & low oil pressure indicator...and asked them whether they got any rubber grommets people are talking about , but they said that they didn't get any rubber grommets as such from Bajaj...nor did they got any complaints regarding vibrations from the owners...
Had to keep the bike there for 2 days & 1 night...
Issues resolved :
Ghunghru sound : resolved
Fairing noise : resolved (they used some dual sided tapes)
Vibrations (didn't had much earlier anyway) : reduced ( almost none !
)
Low oil pressure indicator popping occasionally : resolved
I don't know why but they also changed the locks. ( covered under warranty so it was free of cost )
Got the chain service done as well. ( 75 bucks inclusive of taxes)
Something called the "Truss Screw" & Gasket clutch cover also replaced. ( 33 bucks )
