You know how much price difference is between an engine and brake pads ?
Unless you are going down-slope, avoid engine braking and use actual brakes.

I know this is a controversial topic and many may not agree with me. Rest upto you.

Engine braking on high compression engine is actually a little bad for the piston rings I belive, you can get away with some of it but dont make engine braking a regular habit, yeah its kind of controversial, thing is a lot of guys who race etc use engine braking etc, play with reves and gears to get the engine to brake diffrently, however doing it once in a while isnt bad.
People say engine braking does no harm (on a regular basis it does a little), if it wouldn't then why do people tell to use engine braking during runn in?!
Helps engine and rings mate better,
Plus the chain and sprokets and gears take a little beating with it, but if that saves you from crashing then use engine braking, use it while on highway rides as well but again 'not a habit worth keeping'

A little lean mate. Most mechs set it a little rich or a little lean... if a perfect state of tune is difficult stay richer and change oil a bit quicker(100 to 200kms earlier than usual), and maybe treat the fuel tank with a addition of a carb/injector cleaner once in a while, will help you get rid of carbon deposits on a regular basis preventing too much build up.

Maybe we can help you out brother, some rides are just a bit "nakhrel" if I may, padosi had a unicorn that kept giving up every now and then:banghead: how bout listing things down, writing up what to fix and taking preventive measures to fix her up,
Agree with the bajaj oil seals part, nitox shocks usually give up by 40 to 50k on thr odo

But I haven't been able to use motul 3100 engine oil as my service centre guys suggested me if I want to claim the full 2 year warranty then I have to stick with that crap bajaj engine oil , it vibrates like a phone that's been kept on vibration mode !
In these 10,000 Kms the spark plugs have remained as good as new I.e., no carbon deposits till now , also haven't mess with the carburetor and all , get 35-40 kmpl from day 1 till now and I ride quite enthusiastically ;-) .
I am really happy with my yellow 200ns !

Also still after 2 years since the bike has been launched, people still ask konsi bike h ?

Take the oil from bajaj ride it for 500km and thrn add your own:P next service let them drain the oil you pored in and add there crap:P
Change oil filter and clean magnetic filter.
This 300 to 500 km on bajaj crapoil will be like a regular engine clean up flush from the inside for your ride and will actually be better on the long run! After the 300 to 500 km motul will keep your engine happy:P

This is why I said its upto ones choice. I would not risk the engine by using engine braking on regular basis. Can be helpful in some instances like i had earlier mentioned, but shouldn't be used in normal condition.

Isn't it obvious. Engine braking increases the wear rate, but this is needed during run-in. Hence the suggestion of using engine braking.

Well don't want to drag this topic more. Has been beaten to death in many threads. So thought of sharing what 'I' think is good.

Thanks Diyvansh bro for the advice. Well I have a question does it have anything to do with the idle RPM screw. As my NS came with factory settings of carb and I had not fiddled with it. I fiddled with the idle rpm screw maybe thats the problem looking for your answer bro. And my NS sometimes gives up. Like suppose I try to ride hard the engine goes off when I pull the accelerator hard. Sounds like a whip had been lashed. What maybe the problem AFR SCREW OR IDLE RPM SCREW or BOTH? Thank you

guys i am also having a pulsar 2014 model but i till now i am not facing any problem with eurogrip tyre infact as i feel the tyres are great how do i come to this conclusion ?we all know that marble floors are slippery especially when wet i had bring the bike quiet fast many times when entering the house and even when it is wet and they never slipped as me foots slip when parking the vehicle but even when braking the tyres would not slipso i don't think that they are of that bad quality they are of hard rubber which all the companies put so that it can work for long time without wearing and soft rubber tyre gives very nice grip but they wear tear earlyi think that till now it works fine

I'm also having a 2014 model ns. The tyre slips and even locks up sometimes. It happens when I brake a little hard at 70kmph. Oh and the roads were dry.

Bhai mera please read what I posted again :banghead: I agreed to what you said! I am sorry if you are confused with my writing, but thats what I said engine braking on a regular basis is bad, not to make a habit of it.

Yep, I think you should do a complete re tune of the carb, many threads on it visit one or see a youtube video, read the plugs after every 200 kms or so cleaning them before reinstalling, after a bit of trial and error the tuning will be perfect

The popping is also due to lean mixture I suppose, thing is popping can happen when your too rich too, unburnt air fuel mixture after combustion is left out and a delayed detonation takes place, if its inside the chanmber it will result in knocking (low octane fuel, presence of complex hydrocarbons and radical formation in fuel etc ) if its inside the exhaust or after blow off (exhaust valve open) its a backfire,
                Lean mixture does that too,
The sudden acceleration engine dying off can happen due to lean and rich mixture too!
Too lean and sudden acceleration and the engine pops off cause it dosent get enough fuel,
Too rich and its overflows with a richer afr and bogs off!
Spark plug will indicate a lean or rich mixture, yours was a weeeish lean
Try unscrewing the fuel screw by .25 of a turn and read the plug 200kms later,
Best bet would be a complete retune.
                Hope it helps.

No, Idle screw only controls the at-rest-throttle position.I am assuming the engine goes off when you suddenly pul the throttle wide open, right? And the engine would be working fine when you gradually increase the throttle.
This problem is due to engine running lean, and would be solved by afr and/or proper cleaning of carb

My ns is one and half months old and it has done 1150kms on odo. I've had the problems with the tyres on 4 occasions. I'm currently looking for a tyre upgrade. I think it's better to be safe than being sorry.

Hey guy's, I had got my engline oil + filter + oring changed to Motul 7100 .. But to be fair i didnt feel nay change , at 5k rpm in any gear i would feel the vides indicating that i needed to shift gear . Well today I had my 3rd servicing , they added a 3M enging addative and now even at 6k rpm there are no vibes at all , wow the engine is so smooth . Well they would have tightened the bolts and other stuff too i recon which might be the reason for vibes , but the vibes for me were from the engine itself . Now its good ! First time happy after a servicing .

Anyways now let's come to Bajaj being Bajaj .
As i entered the mechanic asked me if it's my 1st paid I didnt hear properly and said yes , then he started making fake faults in my bike , he said the wire connecting the engine seems to be stuck to the engine using a fevi bond or a thing like that , the one left to Bajaj symbol . I will be sending a Photo tomorrow . But then the estimate guy told him it's 3rd free servicing he said oh thats how it comes from factory , he mistook it with some other bike . I compared the wiring to another pulsar and it was same :/ . Liars .

I see, do you observe others having similar issues after many months of ownership ? like from the NWK or ur friends.. or are the multiple issues cropping up on the particular NS you have.

To be really frank, yes most of the bikes crossing 15k here are having same issues... 7 bikes from. NWK alone suffering from doomed rear suspensions... 3 with front suspensions too... and on mine both are gone... the front is working but no feedback... it just throws me off the moment I even cross a bumper.. and the rear well its as good as brick... does not work....engine oil leaking is a common issue and I have busted my 4th had gasket... and panels coming off loose is a daily routine now... these are common issues....
Issues particular to my bike is not so smooth after after 90kmph,a bit vibration at 60 kmph, a lil bit stressed out feel at that speeds.... and after long trips the bike runs out of breath and there is a second gap between throttle input and engine response... engine gets heated up pretty quick though... and the issue of rpm stuck and low drop of rpm is there which was present from day 1... well these are nothing and after 26k of this kind of abuse its amazing that it still goes like an UFO and returns goodmileage...
