Guys, I am planning to change the euroslips. I have done 5.5k kms on them.
I could not take my bike on trips due to these shoddy tires during these beautiful monsoons.
We have some long weekends in this month and I don't want to miss the fun.

I have zeroed in on PSDs or Michelin Pilot Street.
I got a few questions,

1. Where can I get them in Mysore? What's the damage to the pocket?

2. Can I exchange my 5.5k old tires for some discount?

3. Should I stick to the stock size or can I go for diff. ones

Rear:
Stock: 130/70 R17
What about :140/70 R17 ?

Front:
Stock: 100/80 R17
What about: 110/70 R17?

What is the significant change if I opt for the other size, is it ok?

TIA

1. Aditya N Bharadwaj might be able to answer you there..

2. You should be able to exchange them provided they have no punctures. But the resale of these tyres are quite low, and used ones will go for even less.

3. May I suggest that you try going through the previous pages of this thread. This subject has been dealt with numerous times on varying occasions and bringing up the same subject again tires out the patience.

No availability of pirelli in mysore as far as i know. Michelin pilot street radial 130/70-R17 is fine. 140/70-17 is a bit too much IMO. The 130 costs about 4.8k. You can even try 140/60-R17 mrf revz-y which costs approx 3k. Never change the front tyre size. hirenmistry has reviewed the revz-y a few pages earlier. Take a look. Oh btw stay away from michelin pilot sporty. Horrible in wet. I wish i could simply get rid of the pilot sporty 100/80-17 on mine.

Thanks for the reply, any reliable dealer for the Michelins in Mysore you know of?
Where'd you get yours from? I asked some shops in Double road, but they looked kinda shady to me.
I need an authorized dealer outlet in Mysore.

What is the price difference between PSDs and the Pilot street? Just for the sake

I am planning to go to B'lore for getting a Helmet next weekend( HJC CL-17 from Let's Gear up! )
Might as well try there. What do you guys suggest? Any shops nearby there?

TIA

There's madhus tyre care on hunsur road near 'old nilgiris' and the another madhus opposite the fire brigade in chamarajnagar. Both are authorised for michelin. There's an authorised showroom for MRF on the road between vidhyaashram pu & degree college and KEB office at the start of kalidasa road. There's a honda showroom opposite this mrf dealer.

Price wise or grip wise i doubt there's too much difference between PSD and pilot street radial, the PSD supposedly being the superior one.

A word of advice. No doubt the hjc is an excellent helmet but it will set you back by quite a lot (and im not sure how much). Especially since you're simultaneously investing on tyres, i suggest you buy a less expensive KYT RC seven (3.5k) helmet from orion motors, opposite forum mall, or JC road, blore. This one will be my next helmet soon.

Lets Gear Up does sell Michelin Pilot Street tyres. But you have to order one week before because they don't actually stock them.

Otherwise you have lots of shops selling tyres and riding gears on JC Road, Bangalore.

Hi guys, done 3500 km now and time calls for 2nd free service. I'm planning the change oil after service to Shell. But the bunk guys near by my place (read 10 km) says that they don't have a 20W50 in Shell Advance range (I found that product exists in their online catalog though) and are suggesting me to use Shell Helix which matches the grade but is designed for cars! What would you suggest? I wouldn't abusing the engine alot so I understand Motul 5100 works for me but somehow I want to go with shell.

P.S. did you guys experience any power drop with shell petrol? I filled in Shell petrol twice, normal once and advance once. Both times I've felt the engine smooth but the pick went down! The engine even stalled few times in traffic. I've adjusted the idling speed to operate at 1.4k RPM on cold start. Should see if it changes anything. How about you people? any performance drop?

Pirelli sport demons would be better anyday. You can upgrade to 140/60 rear if you want the ride height to be marginally reduced. And yes if you cannot exchange the tires , you can always sell them at other small tire shops. I did the same.

Automobile engine oil are meant for automobile only. Using automobile oil can cause serious damage to your bike. If you observe any car you'll find its engine seperate from clutch and transmission and use seperate oil. In automobile oil there is a substance called 'friction modifier' which is essential for automobile to lessen the friction on engine component and in result increase in fuel economy. But in bike everything is in one compact casing so it use same oil so the friction modifier substance will clog your clutch plate and your motorcycle transmission causing serious clutch slippage and your bike will immobilized. Bike oil use seperate type of high level of anti-wear addictive called ZDDP or phosporous. Bike oil are much more lubrucating than automobile oil. Hope it clears everything for you. Enjoy your ride.

thanks, I'll sure check for PSDs .
I got to know that Michelin pilot street doesn't come in 100/80. Can I just change the rear tire, or please suggest me a compatible alternative for the front tire with pilot street street at the rear.

hirenmistry has a particular version of mrf zapper up front, not sure which. Stock size. He says they are good. You can look into that. Just browse back a few pages and you'll get his link with images.

You ll get mrf zapper in the stock size front.Or do what I did, just change the rear tyre, I was on a budget so I went for 140/60 rear mrf zapper (the one on fz).Way better than euroslips. But if I remember correctly PSD comes in stock sizes of NS.And if you have the budget nothing comes close to pirelli.

Why dont you try TVS ATT230 for the front tyres? Its stock size and theyre pretty good in the wet.. [im using them on my front] And its easily available on double road. Check the two shops next to the bullet garage [Anils garage], they have the TVS.
