About the battery, coincidentally, I had gone to get my battery serviced today itself and I asked them whether there is any need to charge the battery, because I had heard that dry cells don't need charging. He said it definitely needs to be charged at times.

On that voltmeter or ammeter (I'm not sure which), he said that if the reading is above 12.00, then after starting, the battery gets charged as the engine keeps running. But if it falls to 11.90 or less, then the engine isn't able to pump juice into the battery, and then it needs charging, for which, he said, I'd need to give my battery to them and they'll keep it for 3 days. They'll give a replacement battery to use in the meantime.

The price of a new Exide battery is 2300 as quoted by the svc guy today. I cannot say that for sure right now because I've not asked about it at any retail outlets.

Coming to the lighting, I'm a complete noob at that, so I'd better leave that one for the experts.
In my experience brother.. its better to replace battery than to recharge it as over the time cells get weak and wont hold charge for long enough to crank the engine again..
Recharging is temporary solution (imo)

allen david :- choosing colour depends on ones personal choice ...
If you can get hold of solid colours in ns.. then opt for yellow or blue or black..
Or in dual tone blue black or black red..
Black with white tail looks quite odd..
And i personally find white shades doesnt suit pulsars..

If battery is going to give up, change it as soon as possible else it may trouble you when required. Dry battery chargers will not be that effective.

Q2. Any upgrades for the battery available that can be fitted in the stock battery chamber?
No idea..sorry..

Q3. About fog lamps: Is it okay to paste a yellow filament plastic over the headlamp for temporary utilization? Need a very temporary lighting mod that can help me to cut through this dense fog before I go and get the fog lamps installed.
Could melt and stick with headlight glass due to heat. Use with caution

Q4. What is the color temperature required for a best utilizable fog lamps? I don't appreciate the idea of going down a cliff edge on a foggy night when I am touring.
Any light of temperature 4300k and below is ok. Typically, 4000k is good balance for fog.

Hi guys i have an unusual query, and its not really related to our bike.
We all know that 200ns is really gud bike for touring thanks to its comfy seat nd riding position, peppy engine and sweet handling.
Now coming to the actuall query, i like to tour with my friend who rides his own bike but it would be great if we can be in a constant communication as it would be helpfull in many ways.
We both have android phones and i tried using using bluetooth calling apps but they wernt of much help.

Hi Gunjit,

Good that you came up with this query.

Practically, while riding in groups bikers get separated by more than 10 miles mostly. So, no form of Bluetooth or cheap walkie talkie devices would help.

The best options are:
1. Get a GPS Family tracking software on your Android and install your phone on your motorcycle's handle bar. That way you would know where you two are.

2. Get an unlimited calling card for the riding days and get 2 BSNL prepaid sims. (Cheapest and best way)

NOTE: I would suggest you not to have your connectivity always on but have the road as the most important part. Talking on cell invites mishaps.
Rather, go for option 1 as all you would need to know at times is how far you guys are. You may check one of my posts for the proper way to mount your phone on the handle bar and also get a car charger installed on your dash for your smartphone to get the juice from long journeys.

Happy Riding...

P.S. If you guys are from Delhi/NCR, count me in for long rides.

A POLL/VOTE for all Pulsar 200 NS owners:

What is the best RPM range you feel to get the best mileage?

1. 2-3 K
2. 3-4 K
3. 4-5 K
4. 5-6 K
5. 6 K +

Also, do mention your 200 NS Mileage on highway/city rides.

Yes the gps location sharing thing would be great for group rides but I only ride with my friend and we always maintain a gap of not more than 10-20 meters.
If the guy who has the lead has to slow down or stop he gives a hand signal and if the guy who is following wants to slow down or stop he uses triple short bursts of horns.
Also we try keep an eye on the person following using the rvms and we ride with headlights switched on in order to be able to get spotted easily.
And we are not speed junkies and and maintain a speed of about 70-90kph. Trst me high speed highway rides will tire you faster, you cover more ground when you ride at the adequate speeds.

Would definitely try the unlimited call packs in the next trip, although im dubious if this will work in the mountains as any network connection there is dodgy.

Its not like we want to talk for the entire duration of the ride, its alot better to shut up and enjoy the ride, i just want to be able to talk when needed on the move....also if ur frnd is a guy then u simply cant talk to him for 2-3 hours straight lolzz just kidding.

thanks for the info....will definitely pm you when we plan our next ride.😃

Yes we live in delhi and made a trip to shimla a couple of months back , and it was a blast , ns felt so awesome in the corners that i was grinning ear to ear for the entire 80km ride in the hills !! For me atleast the ride was even more enjoyable than the destination !!
