Yes, your practice is wrong. Use clutch only when you are about to stall, or only when you will be downshifting. Try analyzing situations beforehand[ I expect you to have some experience when you say you are riding for 8 years now]. Anyways, Disengaging the clutch while braking increases the chances of locking the front wheeel which will result in skids. And, will also reduce the life of your clutch plates.Originally posted by niteshneela View Post

Guys there's some strange noise coming from the engine like chi chi chi chi after the bike has run a few kms.... I think its tappet noise.... or is it something else..??
I don't have the time to visit the SVC this week, can I keep on using the bike this way or not....??? I mean can it cause any harm...?? I have completed 10k kms till now. When should the chain set and spark plugs be replaced...??
Thanks in advance.

Is it coming after turning off your engine??Originally posted by Speedshift View PostGuys there's some strange noise coming from the engine like chi chi chi chi after the bike has run a few kms.... I think its tappet noise.... or is it something else..??

then its ok. normal sound from metal parts when cooling down
or
is it coming under acceleration? then it may be by tappet noise. its just like short "tic tic" sound & you may hear like "TTRRrrrrrrr"
the n got to any SVC or local mechanic to correct the tappet. It may take a long time. engine have to be cold when correcting tappet.

one suggestion to the TS
please make a poll about petrol mileage

Sorry for my late reply as I was busy with personal stuff. I upgraded from Pulsar 150 UG3 to 200 NS. SVC once poured DTSI oil on my 150 cc and the experience was horrible, hard gear shift, less pick up etc. May be its because they poured 20W50 while UG3 recommend 20W40. So I am against using DTSI oil. But while giving my 200NS for servicing SVC did not agree to put motul and put DTSI with bardahl oil supplement.Originally posted by The Zmaniac View PostI am curious to know why are you so against DTSi oil? I once tried to change oil to Motul but did not see significant difference (it was semi synthetic). Also, NS needs 1200/1400 ml oil and keeping unused oil is a pain. So I have switched back to DTSi and plan to change oil every 2K kms.
I completed 500 KM on DTSI and bike is running smooth, not sure it is because of DTSI oil or bardahl. The problems I am facing is gear shift, as reported by other members of xbhp while down shift sometime gear gets stuck in one gear and to I have to struggle a lot. I am getting lot of neutral as well now a days and sometime bike gets off. Another problem is some kind of sound from front suspension whenever bike reach end of slope at 20 km/h speed. I reported this to SVC but as usual no use, for them everything is normal.
I have not put any helmet lock, but I think I have to go for it to lock my wife's helmet. Most of the time we go out together and carrying her helmet in hand is pain. I have completed 1K. I am going to continue with run in procedure for another 1K. I am running at 4K rpm and sometime going for 5K rpm. I will try to do some short burst at 6K.
I am thinking of to change the oil to motul 5100 15w50 next week. It cost 580/l in Pune. It's bit costly, the other alternative I am thinking is motul 3100 gold..340/l. What you guys suggest? Should I continue running in dtsi+bardahl till 2000 km?

This practice isn't best idea as it adds unnecessary strain to your clutch components, reduces engine braking efficiency and more over it isn't the best way to follow. Use clutch only the instance the bike is about to stop. Practice this method it not only applies for motorcycle, also anything that runs with a clutch and gearboxOriginally posted by niteshneela View Posti think he meant if u clicked the pic without the bucket it would had been a better one xD
Anyways here comes my question ... i use clutch while braking :/ i've been driving the same way since 8 years :| ... today one of my frnd was arguing not to use clutch while braking :S which one is correct method :S
Does the sound come after the engine is stopped or on the run? If it's on the run your tappet may be loose, nothing to worry it causes no harm as all bikes are scheduled for this clearance at proper service interval and itcan be adjusted in 30 min max in SVC.Originally posted by Speedshift View PostGuys there's some strange noise coming from the engine like chi chi chi chi after the bike has run a few kms.... But if the tappets aren't adjusted in the long run, your performance will get affected drastically.
If it comes after the engine is stopped, it means the the metal components are expanding or contracting, and is perfectly normal.

okay guys i have several queries and problems
1. there is this weird issue with the front tire, when ever i go over potholes or uneven roads, it feels like there are no shock ups and the wheel has no air in it, like i can feel the holes from the front tire which is damn irritating. this started since yesterday, before that let it be any holes, i could feel the bump but it was smooth.
now am really worried whats wrong, i even filled air in my tires 25psi and 32 psi. but same thing is happening, i checked my tire for any puncture or nails and small stones, none are there. i really dont know whats wrong
2.my fuel tank right to the slot where we fill petrol gets pressed, as in tak tak sound comes, like if i press it that time. its like womens hair clip. i feel the fuel tank is lose or something
3. when ever while parking i apply the front brakes, the bike makes a sound as if the console and handle bar and all are lose, like it makes some bhuck bhuck sound.
4.i called the svc guy yesterday for my first service, they said come tomorrow at 8 and they sent me confirmation message today. but i got to know last night that i have practicals in college which i cant afford to miss. i tried calling them today but no one answered. can i cancel the servicing tomorrow ? and they said it starts at 8. if you give the bike in the morning, youl get it by afternoon. if you give in the evening youl get it by tomorrow. why cant they service my bike in front of me ? i even want to change the oil to motul and check if the servicing is done properly.
bike has done 520kms, first servicing to be done.
never crashed the bike, nothing harm is done to the bike.
please help me as the bike is just 2 weeks old and am worried like hell

I was informing you that the bike is looking really nice. But it would look better without the bucket. There is no harm in using a bucket. Isnt it what a bucket is made for? - Holding water for a short duration of time!!Originally posted by Aytas_sss View PostThanks. I was relegated to using a bucket due to the inconvenience it would have caused me and the entire block of families living in the two floors below us had I decided to connect 60 feet worth of hose onto the the pipe of the water tank on our roof and splash my bike with it.

I think you're just way too overboard. These niggling issues aren't even an issue atleast from what you've depicted. Get it to SVC they should be able to fix it because these are subtle stuffs which can't be advised upon.Originally posted by mutatedknutz View Postokay guys i have several queries and problems

Hi guys,
Can someone answer a few quick questions for me ? Too lazy to search the entire forum for related issues and answers on the Pee200NS
1. I sometimes feel the throttle just shuts off while riding or shifting gears. Its like the petrol supply is completely cut off. Is this a familiar niggle? Any solutions/suggestions?
2. Are stock tires grippy enough to do some 500km on dry roads with a pillion?
3. How are the stock headlights on the highway?Do they have sufficient illumination?
Planning for a 600km roundtrip this weekend and need some answers ASAP.
RESPECT.

I mean come on, what sort of question is this
will it grip on dry roads, will it illuminate well. It will and it does to answer your question.
Get your idle checked or your carb setting if you're having throttle issues.
You cracked me up real bad.

Ah,my intention wasn't to counter your quote. It was to explain the reason why I used a bucket. And as to the question of clicking the pic with the bucket,it was taken by my friend ,so that's the only one available with me.Originally posted by muztariq View PostI was informing you that the bike is looking really nice. guys i feel bit strange to corner perfectly in 200ns due to it's height and tire size. Pulsar have (100/80-17 and 130/70-17)
I am used to play with japanese bikes and they have low seat height and different tire profile.
From indian bikes i love the handling of Yamaha FZ16. (100/80-17 and 140/60-R17)
But can i change 200ns rear tires to duke sizes like 150/60 - 17 ? or 140/60 - R17 without handling issueLast edited by nokstar; 04-22-2013, 02:17 PM.

Nice pic.Originally posted by Aytas_sss View PostOne final wash and waxing session before the exams drag me away.
What wax did you use? Did you use the same thing for the plastic parts also?
My Saturday ride was disappointing.
I was thoroughly happy with my ride on Centaurus (I named my NS Centaurus) until that moment.
On my way home, I was about to over take a black Swift. I was going at 80 kmph. The car was almost at the same speed. Time was approximately 8.00 pm
Thats when the driver decided to clean the wind shield and all the dirt and water and God-knows-what splattered all over my helmet and my shirt and some of it on my face. I was nearly thrown off balance. I got really pissed off and honked continuously and made them stop the car. It was a lady driving the car. I asked her what the hell was she doing. I told her not to clean the glass at such high speeds. She apologised, she said she never thought about it.
This was not the first time that I got splattered by dirty water, spit, burning cigarette butts, waste paper, banana peels, orange peels etc. from vehicles in front of me. But this was the first time I flagged down a car for doing this.
Was I happy by flagging her down? No, I was not. But my anger subsided when she apologised. So, I did not argue and I went on my way.Last edited by danny king; 04-22-2013, 02:22 PM.Your bike is a part of you....

Are you a power maniac???Originally posted by spatil1986 View PostHi,
Guys need suggestions for K & N filter for NS and What exactly are the pros and cons of doing it & also help me with filter model no which will easily fit into NS without any modification..
Thanks....
doesn't your NS's stock power satisfying you?
third party air filter means more air to carburetor. which will give you more power than stock. you should have tuned your carburetor to get the maximum performance.
I think, you know the consequences. Low petrol mileage. High on sound. may be more fast head wearing due to inefficient filtering of air.
I think, someone had quoted NS's stock tires are more good for cornering than DUKE'sOriginally posted by nokstar View Postguys i feel bit strange to corner perfectly in 200ns due to it's height and tire size. Pulsar have (100/80-17 and 130/70-17)
