  • strange things happening...the bike behaved amazing when i first started it and rode for about 2-3 kilometers...but then after a while it felt like there is something dragging it behind...i mean the bike didnt rev as freely as it did in first 2-3 kilometers...

    can some part being heated up causing friction be the culprit? what can it be

    rode for 135 kmin 4.69 litres (FE= 29 )
    after this

    rode for 76 kms in 1.77 litres ( FE = 42.9 )

    why such a drastic change? riding style same...infact the second trip i ripped it a little more for the first few kms

    • 2000kms completed today with the last 1km at a speed of 131kmph...I couldn't take it further because it was too cold (4am in the morning...temp could've been around 15 deg). Anyways, the experience:-

      1. BONE CHILLING (ofcourse);
      2. Major vibes in the 4k-5k rpm range (and is felt on the clutch and front brake levers along with the handle) but smoothens a bit beyond;
      3. I hit the 131kmph mark on 6th gear at around 7-8k rpm;
      4. Current mileage (checked over the last ~150kms) is 36kmpl;
      5. Big grin after the run *yay*

      @Shibadip - It will take time to get used it. Don't stop using them just now...wear/use them continuously and you will be fine in another ~100kms. Btw...whats on your odo now?

      • Those of you who have got the rubber grommets fitted for your bikes...,is it a free upgrade?
        Also,what all parts on the bikes will be fitted with these new grommets?So far,I only know that the bolt on the sides of the tank will be getting the grommet treatment...anything else?

          Congrats buddy, on completing the run-in.. I knew it from first, dat I wud be the last one among the three of us to complete the run in.. Was doing Ninital trips with our car for the past 10-12 days.. So DESTINY remained unattended.. And ODO somewhere around 1300 kms mark.. HAve plans to make a Kalinmpong trip on NS in the month of Feb.. Hopefully will have completed the run-in quota by then.. BTW, Vibes in ur bike?? it was the smoothest NS i have rode ill now. @ALL - Thanks for the advice on the gloves.. @RahulBarik - What abt the Rubber Grommets in Kolkata SVC??

            Vibes are very significant in the 4-5k rpm range. Pre and post this mark it reduces a lot. I haven't ridden any other NS (other than yours and that too like a gentleman ) so have to checkout other NSs too. I too came back yesterday night from Mayapur.

            • I am zeroing on making a choice to either go for P200 NS or RTR 180 ABS, the only thing that is making me think twice is the added saftey feature of RTR..ie ABS. I would like to know if there is any news/update of P200NS coming with ABS feature.
              The reason I am looking at ABS is that I am used to using my R-brakes more than the F-brakes(I now know its wrong ), hence locking up is something that I am afraid of. I am consciously trying to use F-brakes, but like they say Old habit die hard .

                Doubt ABS on the pulsar anytime soon.

                  nah..no ABS on pulsar anytime soon...may be in the next upgrade it might follow KTM bringing abs in duke 200...bajaj might bring it in 200NS but not anytime soon...

                  i too had rear brake habit but once i changed to front brake habit the stopping distance has decreased so much...front brakes are any day better and safer to use...
                  my bad habit is i hardly use the rear brake...

                  some members say it is very easy to lock up rear wheel with rear brake...u should test ride first...

                  if u can change ur habbit..p200NS is very good...but if u cant..rtr is for you..but either the ways u SHOULD change ur habit...

                    rear wheel locking is quite easy in the NS ,if its dificult for you to change your habits then RTR is the one for you .

                      Btw I was cleaning my bike today & the inscriptions on the tyres didn't got washed off even when I rubbed on it very hard with a wet cloth...so acrylic colour is the way to go guys...totally dependable & worth it...
                      But those on the left portion of the rear tyre are gone because of the chain lube or some other oil...even the alloys had some oil on them...so I'll have to do that again...

                      BTW Guys, went to Nainital for touring, but with our car.
                      Did some fantastic driving within the superb hilly regions of NAnital, and Kausani, and that too with our new XUV, with which I'm highly impressed with the ride quality... But then missed my NS terribly, seeing those twisties, and good roads, along with the awesome scenery..
                      The roads there are superb, and any Corner Maniac's eyes will lit up seeing the Hairpins, and other turns.. Highly suggested to take ur NS and enjoy the roads and the surroundings.
                      will hear about your trip when we meet next time..btw no news of grommets...nay...gutka tikk now... i guess they are busy chewing it rather than fitting it lol... and i had a bloody fight yesterday on bl saha svc..which was about to turn into a wresting match....threats exchanged from both sides and later on screwed them big time they stopped talking to me... who the hell cares... i paid 1 1lakh for a bike and i want proper service... later on the osl head intervened and offered me help and calls were pouring in on both my and the svc phones from different osl personnels and bajaj...the last call was from pune and he promised me to change my clutch packing for which i have to pay... later on the svc engineer came and apologised to me and offered me cold drinks... they thought that i am an uninformed customer just like others and dont know anything about the bike internals and engines... they were surprised to see that i have so many contacts... next time they abuse me, i'll straight away go to consumer forum... they were unabale to sort out the problems and when i said that i wont take delivery of my bike unless and until you write on a paper that the problem cant be solved and give astamp of the svc below i am not leaving...to which he replied "i dont even care"... this is the bloody attitude of svc people... we all know guys from bajaj headquarters closely follow this thread and i just hope someone is reading this and taking proper action....

As there are many fellow bikers who wish to know the actual mileage of the bike. I had heard it from many owners, that the mileage of the bike is between 25-27, while the company claims it to be 35. I m interested in buying the same machine, but need to know the actual mileage in Mumbai.
                      i generally get 35-37 with lots of hard riding... highway riding at speeds of 60kmph gives 50+ kmpl easily while at 70kmph gives around 45kmpl... at 90 it drops to areound 38-39kmpl and above 110kmph its 32kmpl... just day before yesterday we had a big ride and i was constantly cruising at 110kmph and sometimes above 120, all with a pillion... i weigh 60kgs, my pillion weighs 58kgs, was fully geared up, so add another 3 kgs and both were carrying heavy backpacks with wet cloyhes and wet towel inside since we were returning from a seaside trip... so for those backs, add another 10 kilos... the mileage i got was 27kmpl...it is justified because of the speeds i was maintaining along with the combined weight... touched 131 kmph max while i was ALMOST racing with a fully loaded indigo... in normal riding, 38 is what you should expect..

                      assuming the tank is 12.5 litres i filled in 3 litres less than full

                      this time my full tank i filled 4.69 litres and travelled 135 kms

                      i probably didnt do a full tank

                      if i did an actual full tank i just rode 135 kms in 1.69 litres of petrol and the FE is which gives FE of 80 so we can rule that out...

                      if i filled at the exact same level like last time i did 135 kms in 4.69 litres of fuel that is 29 FE

                      the correct answer might be somewhere in between so i MIGHT have got around 40 assuming i filled it more than last time
                      (bhai pura sar ke upar se gaya) didn't understand the math could you please explain in details?

                      Guys, I have been riding bikes from last 3 yrs, but this is the First time I bought myself a pair of gloves (Alpeinstar).
                      I rode my bike with those gloves today, but to my surprise, the ride experience deteriorated. Mainly because, i was hardly getting around 50% of feedback of the accelerator and the clutch.

                      Now is it like that only, or will my experience get better with more rides with the gloves??

                      @Utsav - Pls do post the pics once u get the CF mud-guards installed on ur ride.. , and BTW, congrats on ur completion of SS. Best of Luck for getting the certificate..
                      thats quite normal...you will get used to it and as faffy said, you will not want to ride without gloves once you get used to it...it feels awkward to me when i dont wear my gloves... btw you bought those 450 rs wala right? then i have some bad news for you... will tell it in person

                            Eveyone, who is interested in the above product - I have seen the light personally on Rahul's bike, and i'm very impressed with the vision it provided. Much much better than the stock lights. and VFM as well..

                            Naaah.. I will only complete the run-in..

                            • I'm going out of station for 20 days. Should I remove the battery? And yesterday went to the SVC to get my console vibration rectified. They tightened it so much that the holder of the screw broke. At last they fixed it with some double sided tape. When asked them for a replacement, the reply was negative. Talked for about half an hour with the showroom manager and he was like "It doesn't affect your ride, then why replace?" Damn pissed... :/
                              Riding is not about destinations, it's about journeys.
