RE: Pulsar 200 NS
After the 220, why do you want to sort of downgrade to a 200NS ? Shouldn't you be looking at the CBR250 at least ? Or wait for the Duke 390 ? Should be out in 3-4 months. That should be the perfect upgradeOriginally posted by aniket87 View Posthay guys please guide me after 5 years of my 220fi i am buying new bike so is it good to buy 200 ns?

It won't be a considerable upgrade mate...I'd suggest CBR 250 R instead...Originally posted by aniket87 View Posthay guys please guide me after 5 years of my 220fi i am buying new bike so is it good to buy 200 ns?

Maybe wait for the 390 duke? Or probably the same-displacement-pulsar which is gonna release alongside? Rumors are, it's a V-twin.Originally posted by aniket87 View Posthay guys please guide me after 5 years of my 220fi i am buying new bike so is it good to buy 200 ns?
@all, Tanked up in shell today. Before me, a 2-stroke vehicle filled fuel mixed with engine oil (3%). At shell, there's a knob used to set the percentage of oil to be mixed in the fuel. Didn't take care to notice but later realised that the attendant used the same dispenser for mine. Later I took a few drops of the fuel in my hand and noticed that the whole thing evaporated without a trace. I'm confused if there's extra oil mixed with the fuel or not. Suppose there is, would it affect the engine and performance? In what way?Last edited by Aditya N Bharadwaj; 12-16-2012, 02:33 PM.Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity.

Pics please.. And don't you think that this mileage change may be due to some other setting because I don't think that just the tyre change will have this much effect. Well as long as it is good for you, no problem. also tell how much you pocket is light now by this purchase??Originally posted by KESH View PostI have changed the rear tyre to dunlop tuffgrip 140/70...earlier my mileage was 37, now its 45

i will plan accordingly too..

NS200 is better than P220 in handling and performance. But some where it comes in range of 200-250cc range. So if you need any hike in performance and power than please see for Duke 390 or Ninja 300.Originally posted by aniket87 View Posthay guys please guide me after 5 years of my 220fi i am buying new bike so is it good to buy 200 ns?
And if you need only better handling and range of 200cc then NS200 is best in 1L range.

My NS200 has no vibration issues atleast not on handle and footpegs and tank. Have already done more than 20k kms on the NS so, its much better in opening up or you can say I got used to it or my baby got used to me. I won't say it was easy to do 130+ through out, but it wasn't too tough either. While going it was slow as I was taking frequent stops due to the bad roads on the NH4, too much of diversions and traffic but while returning back it was butter smooth! 140 kmph was nearly nothing, it was butter smooth. Felt like it could use up some more speed and accelerated higher and higher. But still I could not figure out how it used up so little fuel. I am loving it....!Originally posted by pgaucha View PostOMG how are you able to manage 130-148... when i start doing 120 i can feel vibration in foot peg and handle bar(very little mostly due to continuous ride).. what is the route you managed to do??
Hello Aniket,Originally posted by aniket87 View Posthay guys please guide me after 5 years of my 220fi i am buying new bike so is it good to buy 200 ns?
I had owned the Pulsar220Fi for some time in the past. Frankly speaking, the NS is a lot better bike if you go in a comparison table. But, upgrading is purely on choice factor. If you are into touring insane amount of long distances straight away get a CBR250R. If you are looking for a city bike, which is loaded with the latest gizmos and is powerful enough to throw the CBR some challenge in the performance figures and also go for touring and lastly you want to get on the dirt track too, think no more and get the NS.
Here are some topics where the sole difference lies between the 220Fi and the 200NS
1. Nakedness : 220Fi being a semi faired bike, will protect you from wind whereas on a NS you will get the full blast of wind no matter what and you cannot duck behind anything.
2. Fi and Carb : Fi is an important feature if you are looking forward to go to Khardungla (Leh-Ladakh) frequently. But even a carb'd bike like NS can go with a simple mod in the carb (which I think wont be required as NS is a powerful enough bike and one can ride it even when the power output if half i.e. around 12 hp. You won't require even 3/4th of the power produced)
3. Frame : NS has a chasis which is being used in SBKs. The entire weight is such well balanced centrally that you can (only if you are a track rider) beat the hell out of a RTR. Well I havent seen nor heard such, but I firmly beleive there are high probabilities of such happening. However a Pulsar220Fi won't even stand close to such a feat.
4. Acceleration : Its way better than the P220 and better than the P220Fi. Once the NS opens up, its so flickable, so powerful and accelerates so fast that no P220's won't be able to catch you. Well Duke200, N250R and RD would still lead you.
5. Technology : P220Fi is a long stoke engine and the NS is a short stroke one.
6. Power : 19.58hp does not stand a chance against a 23.5hp. The difference is the full power is very easily accessible. The only think you have to keep in mind for a NS is always, no matter what, try and keep the bike above 3.7k RPM for smoothness. P220Fi has rough edges when comparing it with the NS.
7. Chain & Sprocket : The NS's chain is ultra sensitive. Gets loose all the time. In 6.5k kms I had already tightened it up 7 times. Had replaced the chain before going on my SS ride and it got loosened again. Such is not the case with the P220 or the P220Fi.
8. Vibrations : The NS has very less vibrations comparatively against the P220Fi. Adding to that, there are Rubber grommets available from Bajaj for the NS and they are installing them for the new bikes for free. Don't know if the already sold NS's are getting free rubber grommets.
9. Costs : Regarding maintenance, the NS is much affordable comparing against the P220Fi. Parts costs are only 5%~7% more than compared to the P220 parts. The only thing you should take care of, is the engine oil for the NS.
10. The most HOT topic of E5 Fuel : E5 fuel that you have started getting is mostly E6 or E7, coz the gas bunkers aren't totally honest as we all know. Compression ratio of NS is better than P220, hence the NS would benefit quite a much in power output if we see rather than the P220. But expect a 10% lower fuel efficiency.
Hope the above guide would help you guide your buy. Happy riding!....Riding the Indian Monster : 200NS....
