As it is a stock replacement filter, it serves the same purpose as that of the stock filter. Main advantage is that you don't have to replace the filter anymore as this filter can be used for a lifetime just by washing and oiling. A disadvantage is that you won't find any major change in performance and sound when compared to the Cone type filters by K&N. But I appreciate your choice over other K&N Race type Cone filter as it is tailor made for 200NS.

I think you have bought K&N BA-2012 model stock replacement filter for 200NS.Originally posted by allen david View Post

I don't think so.Originally posted by allen david View PostCan I add a cone type filter too along with this?
As far as I think only one filter can be fitted.
Cone type filters are generally fitted directly to the carburettor by removing the air filter pipe, although you can fit it in the air filter box.
Fitting two air filters will reduce the airflow to the engine.

Oh yea... But will they charge on quantity based or bottle based?. I checked nearby KTM one, they said No No for MotulOriginally posted by krixna View PostKTM service centre bro! Best place to find 1.5L
Local service workshop sells Motul 7100, but will sell as bottle.
Any guys in Chennai need Motul 5100?. About 900ml.....I'll give it for free, it's of no use now. As I may only try 7100 next

In k&n website, they are telling that it increases hp and acceleration when compared to stock.. But have to check if that's trueOriginally posted by xplod566 View PostThe stock filter is 230 but kn is 3450.if it's that costly there has to be some sort of performance improvement or some differentiation from stock AF.can u guys confirm what diff does kn bring

Stock one should be replaced periodically. But K&N can be used for a lifetime and also they give 10 years/million kms limited warranty.Originally posted by xplod566 View PostThe stock filter is 230 but kn is 3450.if it's that costly there has to be some sort of performance improvement or some differentiation from stock AF.can u guys confirm what diff does kn bring
K&N offers better filtration than the stock one.
Although K&N claims improvement in acceleration and horsepower, the reviews say that there is no much change. The change can be felt only if you are redlining in each gear.
Even I planned to buy this at a time as I love to redline.

I am also having 700ml of Motul 300V 15W50. I am not gonna use it since I am planning to buy another bike.Originally posted by jbm_guy View PostOh yea... But will they charge on quantity based or bottle based?. I checked nearby KTM one, they said No No for Motul

After filling, I clocked 4000 kms and I observed neither any colour change nor any decrease in oil level. I am sure it will clock another 2000 kms with ease.

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
Good luck bro. No harm in trying. Longer run might result in more accumulation of dust or dirt inside the chamber, K&N filter jets the air... so you can expect a throaty ride. But throughout the NS forums all I have seen these years, none has said much positive about this except for better vocal post 8K. Plus we need a dyno to evaluate that 1-2 bhp improvement...Originally posted by allen david View PostIn k&n website, they are telling that it increases hp and acceleration when compared to stock.. Please consider tuning the carb. Without any tuning, the mixture will be lean, hence it will result in unstable idling or hiccups and engine overheat. Hope you do it with a mechanic. Good luck and keep updated.... plus the iridium plugs too. If the mechanic is good, let me know too..

Thanks for the advice. Will be doing it as you say. About the iridium spark plugs, I can't find the spitfire cables.. Will let you know once I have done the job [emoji1]Originally posted by jbm_guy View PostGood luck bro. No harm in trying. Wow... Himalayan...!!!Originally posted by GauravD View PostWow dat is good to know... Btw I have also decided on a new companion .. Not because of the few niggles that NS has despite it being a crotch rocket but because of the fact that I have gotten hooked onto long distance riding ... I have made up my mind on the RE Himalayan. Saw it at the showroom the other day.. Frikin slick bro !! Waiting to get hold of it when it comes of age for the TD and bookings
First RE that attracts many positive scores...But you can consider Mojo as another option...as it can serve you well in City too. Himalayan is purely adventure model and I'd prefer a mix of two, say Versys 650
off-topic: Got my friends CL350 for few months from an onsite going friend. I'll be storing it in my garage for few months. Took about 40km ride yday. Man... that's really a metal monster... excellent torque. What impressed me was the superb ride quality. The suspension is so so soft and takes on every potholes so nicely.. On streets with stones laid I'd usually ride at 10-15kph on NS, but with this I was doing 40+ without ANY DISCOMFORT...can you beat that?. I'd really suggest for those who have tail bone or back pain... Plus no vibrations reach the seat as it is seated through spring.
The major disaster is handlebar and footpeg vibes... A big disaster...!!! At low speeds in low gear, the handle bar literally vibrates which is even visible (rumbling)
. Only at speeds 60-80kph at gear 4 and 5 the vibrations are reducing... The lack of balancer shaft is clearly visible, esp at low speeds and speeds beyond 90kph. Plus 90kph seemed scary on longer stretch of road as the suspension is soft, I often felt uncontrollable.. Back on my NS, I never felt unstable...!!!. With my colleague of ~75Kg the bike didn't even show any drag or hiccup. I didn't even feel like somebody was sitting at my back, so this is where the torque goes... With NS, I'd felt it many times and would wish when the pillion would step out of my bike
... Anyway I don't want to take that RE often, as the vibes are not bearable for me. 40Km felt like a 200km ride effect
.
Now Himalayan with refined engine with balancer shaft and cruising speed of 110kph with good NVH... can't wait to see. Anyway my eyes are locked hard on BMW G310r...

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
It is a high-flow air filter. Means, it lets more air through it than the stock one.Originally posted by allen david View PostIn k&n website, they are telling that it increases hp and acceleration when compared to stock.. But have to check if that's true
If you want the extra bhps, you have to put in a bigger main jet and tune the carb accordingly. The reason is, a high flow filter offers less resistance to flow of air through it. This leads to a drop in vacuum in the airbox and the carb. Now vacuum is what sucks up the petrol from the carb. To compensate for less vacuum, you have to make the main jet bigger. Else, you may get even less power than before!

I have seen good reviews about Benelli TNT 300 and have been glued to its ownership thread in xBhp. Really liked it and satisfies all my needs in paper. Should take a test drive. But what holds me back is their poor dealership network.Originally posted by jbm_guy View PostGood luck bro.

Be careful while upjetting. Consult a highly experienced mechanic for AFR adjustment or else everything will be messed up.Originally posted by allen david View PostThanks for the advice. The performance of NS with and without pillion is drastically different.
Himalayan... I even have it in my shortlist. Waiting for the initial reviews and ownership reports. But I seriously worry about the quality of RE bikes when comparing to others.
As I am suffering from Backpain, I want a comfortable bike. But for the past 2 years, I have been riding 200NS. You know, switching from a powerful bike which clocks 0-100kmph in less than 10 secs to a lesser powerful one is really painful for me. That's why I am hesitating to buy REs.

TNT300 is a wonderful machine and can listen to it's humming all day, but only if your wallet is heavy. I too keep watching the thread. Service intervals, service costs all seem on upper side + limited dealership as you said. Or you might want to look for Tornado 302, another anticipated model, looks very wonderful. By that time of it's launch, the network will also expand.Originally posted by nirmalnimz View PostI have seen good reviews about Benelli TNT 300 and have been glued to its ownership thread in xBhp. RE is really comfortably, no denying... The suspension setup is really good for our bad roads.. but then it lacks the rush factor in NS, plus vibes... I'm too having high hopes on Himalayan and more importantly BMW G310r... Let's wait..

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
Count me in too guys in the wait for the Himalayan. Apparently RE has done away with the regular push rod and also added a counter balancer. Plus, the entire mounting has been done on rubber mounts so I am hoping like all others that this is a more refined RE.Originally posted by jbm_guy View PostTNT300 is a wonderful machine and can listen to it's humming all day, but only if your wallet is heavy. Judging by the fact that it churns oit about 32NM of torque and 25bhp, yes it definitely will not be in the race for the fastest indian but may turn out to be a worthy contender for the most comfortable indian. Fingers crossed ... Waiting patiently for the 17th of March.
