I am not ashamed to admit that i am a noob. Its a gradual learning process and i guess xbhp is one of the best places for that. Thanks for the clarification

Originally posted by GauravD View PostBased on my limited knowledge, quite a few things could go wrong with a less ridden motorcycle if not taken care off properly -
1. Prolonged periods of zero riding leads to gasoline destruction which is harmful primarily for the carb. Gasoline is a composite of water and acids, so prolonged periods of non riding could break it down and the acids may harm the inners and fuel lines, not to forget choked carbs. (Need no explanation on that)
2. If optimum tyre pressure is not maintained, it may lead to cracking of tyres due to the motorcycles weight. Not worried about tyres going brittle since you mentioned it was stored underground.
3. Engine losing its viscocity or even thickening up
4. Oil seal may dry out and cause leakages
5. The chain - less said the better since with less / no lube that would be the first to go kapoot
6. Battery gets charged through the coil (do not remember the exact name off hand) however with a motorcycle doing only about 90 a month I wonder how much juice there would be. Was the battery charged regularly is a question you may wanna ask
7. Underground storage - Was the area well ventilated though since in 8th standard I was taught that fungi thrive in cool moist areas. You may wanna keep a watch out.
Do not get me wrong but I have no intention of discouraging you. You may wanna check for these pointers, check the servicing record of the bike if that was done regularly since there is a day interval to that too. If you find all is intact that you may have pretty slick machine on your hands for you to love and enjoy. All the best bro

I do fuel tank to fuel tank plus I keep a track on fuelly.com. The benefit of fuelly is that you can choose to do a partial fuel up and then the next time you tank up, the mileage is calculated accordingly.
Great one man. I didn't notice them though until you fix the puzzle. How much should I pay for? Body is scratchless, Tyres as good as new, engine was smooth and there was recent service just couple of weeks back.
I know that I could find the service records in user manual which gives the free/paid service coupon. This is what you're referring too as you mean the service records right??
And its Magneto is what you meant.Last edited by Sherl; 03-03-2016, 12:18 AM.Mustard Yellow 2013 200NS - Suave Bloke in the town

And insurance's value would be around 67k
Any thing between 62 to 65k would be a great deal [emoji111]Last edited by kany1991; 03-03-2016, 12:53 AM.

As per the IT Act, the rate of depreciation of motorcycles is at 15% p.a.
Going by this rate, assuming that the NS cost 1,00,000 in 2013 the value would have depreciated to about 52k in 2016. However giving benefit of the condition of the bike you could hike it up as per your best judgement.
I was dumb enough to work this out on Excel whereas there is the following calculator on the net
Use this calculator to work out the straight line depreciation of an asset over a specified number of years.
The second calculator on the page lets you enter start price, rate of depreciation ie 15% and then will give you a year wise depreciating amount.
Hope this helps you and all of us to have a starting point for buying preloved motorcycles.
mods - is there some way this could be kind of pinned so that folks from other threads also can view this post and use the calculator.Last edited by GauravD; 03-03-2016, 01:47 AM.

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
Recently I have changed my air filter(stock) and then did change my afr settings. Now while riding with pillion, I can hear a metallic sound similar to snatching at around 4k rpm while ascending. The bike wants me to shift down as if there is no enough torque.

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
Bhai the bike seems pretty well kept in the pics however it could also be a result of a good wash and a polish. The tyres seem to have a lot of kms left in them. The paint turning brown on the muffler is something I have on my bike too and also all NSs I have seen out here, so I guess thats pretty normal. Cant say for sure if there were any production issues in the 2013 batch, folks here who have a '13 model would be able to advise better on this.Originally posted by jhbalaji View Post@GauravD

If folks on here say that there were no production related issues, you put it through a thorough inspection and it comes out clean then you would need to be making a call - if you find that you have a connection when you ride it and there are not the minutest of niggles you could go in for it.
Well kept machines will be priced higher than the going market rate most of the times since the owner has taken that special care however in India most of the times, sadly, people try to pass off abused machines as well kept ones.
BTW you could have mine for 72K

65k would be good deal
Chassis MD2A36FZXDCG29***
Engine JLZCDF22***
This was registered in Q4 2013. So, I beliveve this would have best of both worlds (production/qulaity issues being fixed after first few batches and value enginneeirng not being carried out)

Any key points I should check? I have driven RE Electra CI for last five years and nothing much apart from it though. Would you suggest me to take some garage mechanic and get it checked before closing the deal?
What would be an ideal price should I go for this machine?? I want a head turner in most part and hence the mustard yellow. No offense.
I am right away fixing the AS200 visor into it and looking for any probable tank cover or some mounts for carrying daily errands alike my bullet which has ton of storage space all over. Any suggestion Gaurav?Mustard Yellow 2013 200NS - Suave Bloke in the town

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
Bhai I am not sure about decoding the month however the year can be ascertained by the 10th digit of the VIN which in your case is D. Lately Bajaj has an online system of service records although am not sure if it was in place all these years. You could wall up to the bajaj svc centre where this bike was serviced and see if the manager would be able to assist you.Originally posted by jhbalaji View PostAny decode of mfg date from chassis number?

You could do a thorough check of the externals of the bike plus check the service record of the bike. If the record shows that it was serviced regularly it could mean that the owner did invest time in maintaining his machine even though it was not being ridden much.
Yes, taking a trusted mechanic along would be a good idea since you, coming from the RE lineage, may not feel the vibes if any, plus other nuances as well. The color is awesome, its a pity Bajaj shut down this color and came up with some ridiculous decals on the newer versions.
As far as mounts go, you could use the crash guards for any aux lighting you may have mind. Plus, you could make up a custom cross bar from mirror mount to mirror mount for you mobile mount, usb charger, fog lamp switches etc.
Carrying stuff, i agree, is a pain and most of the time one has the tank available which leads to scratches on the tank unless one has a tank guard, not to mention its outright risky.
On second thought you could think about a slick pannier system albeit not the regular sized ones (sample 1200GS BMW). Have seen quite a few NS with this system on the net mostly from SE Asia and lends a pretty slick look if well done.
