i can see bikes from all over India in parking lot of my office. they ride it here with zero issues. they just have to carry all original papers all the time. plus whenever traffic police caught them, they have to say i am from so and so place and i am in Mumbai for 2 months.
according to law, you can keep vehicle from other state till one year unregistered in new state, provided, only you ride the bike and it should be registered on same name as your driving license has. plus be ready to show papers wherever cop sees you.
this is scenario in Mumbai.
one of my friend used his MH01 registered splendour in Bangalore for and and half year.
hope this helps.

Bro.. Bangalore is different ball game. My brother who works with the State Bank Mysore in Bangalore. One week after he got posted there he was stopped by the police and hia bike impounded for not having a KA number even after he had all his papers as well as the transfer orders with him. The police man's reaction - humein isse koi lena dena nahin hai. It took quite a high level involvement from the bank head office to get it sorted and now he still rides with his HR number but keeps the letter he got from the bank with the official stamp of the RTO at all times with him

Boils down to the fact that either he was too unlucky or your splendor friend has been too lucky all this while not to get caught.
jbm_guy suggestion would be to get your papers in order IF yours is not a transferrable job like bankers. A few pages before there was another xbhpian who got t'ferred to Bangalore, you may wanna check with him.

You would need to pay Karnataka road tax, else you will become a best buddy for police here. Always finding yourself offering money for tea / snacks...lol..
You can manage a month here without tax paying, but after that the real harassment will start if caught.

In other states you can ride for a year without paying tax but here you have some special rules to extort money.

I come from the family of RE in which revving after 90kmph will give you shattering bones.
Bro, riding the NS after a few years of RE would be a pain in the ass and backbone, literally! Test ride on some decently bad road and see for yourself what I mean.

Is it because of poor low end torque which yield frequent shifts
or
Suspension of RE vs stiff mono shocks?

I have 19 Electra wheels in rear which is like flying on any potholes and super comfy mostly only the high way rides are going to be tiring because of wind blast.

Thanks guys... So Iam planning to get NOC here in Chennai+police certificate. Next pon moving to Bglore, I'll visit RTO and pay the tax amount and keep the receipt carefully... Hope no need for re-registration, change of numbers bla bla bla, stuff.. Agent charges for obtaining NOC is 1800/- for 1 vehicle. Thing is, I have two vehicles and hence I'd end up paying a lot for this alone

NS is perfect at all range. Esp punchy mid from my exp. However, what he tries to tell you is, RE suspension is so comfortable that it can take a typical 3-6 inch deep potholes very easily and you wouldn't need to speed down... But the same on NS would either damage your backbone or might shake your heart for a sec . RE is a very very comfortable bike (considering it's limited cruising speed and ignoring vibes).

NS is okay till 110 kph. Get a tight fit jacket and jean + a helmet that would fit well. This should help reduce wind blast... Funny though, but I tie bag (big ones) on tank which will help on long rides

Hi jbm_guy

The Karnataka Govt has given 30 days time limit for out of state registered vehicles.
Within these 30 days, if there is RTO check, they will flag you down but if you show valid proofs they will release you.
The valid proofs can be fuel bills/Toll tickets/PUC.
Post 30 days window you have 2 options.

a. Pay up the tax and roam around.
For only paying tax, NOC is not needed. All you need is RC, Valid insurance and Vehicle Invoice. They will assess the tax based upon your invoice value. Once you pay the same you will get a tax slip. You have to carry that along with you. Your registration number and RC will not change.
However there are 2 downsides to this process. Firstly, you will be flagged down in case of RTO checks, but on showing the tax slip they will release you. Secondly you will not be eligible for any tax refund once you leave KA. (Most of the time you will never get any tax refund).
You can go for this in case your stay is of short term and you have plans to sell the vehicle in the parent state.

b. Change of address & registration number:This is a 2 fold process and fully optional. Here you need an NOC along with all vehicle documents. Make sure that the NOC is addressed to that particulat RTO or else they will harass you. (for example if you are registering in electronic city: NOC should be addressed to RTO 51). First you have to fill KMV 27 with your address and submit all the documents. Then pay tax and the required fees for change of address. This is a time taking process. Once done, you will have your RC changed to KA. The next step is to change the registration number. Once done, you will get a fresh KA plate.
This situation makes sense incase you are planning stay in KA for long time and will be helpful if you sell the vehicle later on in KA.

For the second process you can wait and do it at any point you feel like, but the first process of paying tax should be within 30 days.

THANKS A TON BRO

Excellent information. I'd been confused with two methods,
1. NOC + re-registration or
2. Pay tax and keep the same number

I'd stick with option 1.

But I read somewhere that if we wish to keep same number and current rgistration and pay tax alone in any Bglore RTO for my bike, the people at RTO office counter will still ask for NOC+Police certificate, is that true?. I read in some forum that they asked for NOC after his transfer and he had to take his vehicle back to his native to get the NOC again... I don't want to go back and forth as I have two vehicles. Also if you know, can you help me point to some agents in Bglore in any so that they can help me do this stuff?. Thanks a lot brother...
Ufff... this transfer process is really so borrring..

For just paying tax, you do not need anything. They are only interested in $$.
