Gaurav pointed me to drain oil and get filled with new one. DTSi or Motul 5100??
Also what are the steps I am supposed to follow for next x run in kilometers??

@GauravD @kany1991 @sharadh @Ujjwal96

Thanks all for helping out. I may not have mentioned many who have helped here but no offense I honestly missed you to tag in the myraid number of discussion flowing across the thread.
Congratulations on the new bike! Welcome to the NS cult
I would suggest you to go with the dtsi oil for now as i doubt the bike would have had a proper run in with the previous owner. I know it is tempting to switch to motul but proper run in is good for the longer and smoother engine life. You can use the dtsi for the next 1100kms and change to the motul 5100 at 5000km.
While you are using dtsi, stick to the run in speeds. Although the run in distance recommend by bajaj is upto 2000km only, you might want to go a little easy on the throttle for the time being. Again, i know its hard to resist but would have to live with it.
And we all are glad to help, thats what this forum is for

sharadh Bajaj mentions only till 2k kms. Follow the same for another 1k kms? Simple thumb rule is stick to shifting at 4K rpm for each gear and gear shifts at
1 to 2 - 15
2 to 3 - 25
3 to 4 - 35
4 to 5 - 45
5 to 6 - 55

Correct? And what should be max reving? Under 6k or 7k in gear or something else?

Yup. Bajaj recommends 2k kms, but as you dont know exactly how the previous owner used the bike, its better to go slow on the engine and let it settle in properly. If 1000kms seems like a stretch to you, lets say 500km, that should be doable.
As far as the shifting goes, i find 4k-5k to be a good range to shift at, in the city limits especially. And i have seen many people following the same pattern. So yes, 4k sounds good. The shifting speeds also seem ok and approximately correspond to the bike's speed at 4k rpm.
For maximum rpm, 6k seems fine to me, atleast for the next 500kms. You can start going closer to the redline, after you change your engine oil to motul as dtsi isnt the best companion for a high reving engine.
Hope this helps

Riding an RE and ns will give a world of difference.... I have experienced and still am (till next week, i will give my friend's cl350 back).

Anyway, try to stay within 4-5k range... 5k rpm on gear-6 will give you about 60-75kph which should be enough for now. The engine vocal (screaming which pulls others attention) starts beyond 7k and that's where you will feel the bikes actual capability.. But it will bring lots of attention and the sound might cause attention from cops too..

Revving fully is No harm(unless you do it on neutral) that you can hit till 11000 rpm in all gears as ns is rev friendly.... But let first 1000 kms pass by....

About needle, that's the least thing to worry about unless it's real shaky that you can't read the tacho reading at all...

Give it a full service... Use dtsi for now.... You can add additional p220 horn which will make dual tone plus will help on highway... Lights are as same as on RE, mostly fine for smaller riders and in city

Revving at 7k-8k will belt out max torque and you will love that. Plus engine braking helps a lot there...

I'll keep under 7k for the mean time for next 1000 kms. Should I change oil now? Considering last change was 1980. Go with dtsi till 5k right??

Also any reputed garage for servicing in Bangalore??

----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

Yes RE and NS is lot different

RE wise old man advices everyone and keep an eye on you to not rev hard and enjoy the mid range. Thorough torque and absence of power in super 80s. Whole world of comfort and confidence.

NS. New kid, want to run as fast as he can. At 8K he turns into roaring success proclaiming victory from everyone. Sometimes goes mad and scares you.

Thanks bro. Since dtsi is mineral oil you're suggesting me to use it or something else?
Coolant I need to flush immediately since its already two years and running.

Okay. Change frequency? Every 2.5k?

Also suggest some tyres which can increase the height and comfort without any major mods.

When i was on DTSI i used to do it at 2k - 2.2k. After motul 7100 i do it 5k.

You could calculate the impact of the tyre on the height of the bike using the below and this calculation holds true for any tyre.

For a tyre size 130/70 the height is 70% of 130 which is 91mm. Thats the impact the tyre would have on the height of your bike. Similarly, a 130/80 would have an impact height of 104mm, thereby increasing your bike height by about 14mm. You could look at various tyres on offer and choose as per your requirements.

I found that they changed engine oil in 3600kms and I am now in 3800. But they haven't changed the engine oil filter. Here are my options
• Change engine oil + oil filter immediately or after 500/1k /2k kms
• Drain the oil + plug new oil filter + use the drained engine oil now

Help bro? Also AS200 Visor advisable on NS. Doesnt it cause any harm to bike in high speeds or console getting damaged?

no. as its not connected to console directly, it shouldn't be putting strain on console.
i am also looking for nice windshield on my ride. found DIY thread where Yamaha Fazer windshield was used.
for me, it doesn't gels with looks of 200NS.
can anybody tell me about windshield which goes with looks of ride and should be functional?
