Use the 110 section tire, if you use 100 section tire it will effect the handling due to the bigger size rear tire.

The combo should be:
100 Front - 130 Rear
110 Front - 140/150 Rear.

Best tire option is Michelin Pilot Street or MRF Revz found in the Duke 200.

If you are upsizing the rear tire, upsize to 140/70 and not to 150. A bigger rear tire doesn't mean better handling. The new tire size should be + or - 10 the stock size. Something above or below this size would have an adverse effect.

Guys ... thank you for the tyre change options for my post related to lowering the height of the bike without affecting handling.

However this has given rise to more and more confusion -

Current set up :
Tyre size = 130/70
Aspect Ratio (Overall) : 91mm
Total tyre height : (91X2)+(17X2.54X10) = 613.8mm

Suggestion 1 : NitSpeed200
Tyre Size = 140/70
Aspect Ratio (Overall) : 98mm
Total tyre height : (98X2)+(17X2.54X10) = 627.8mm

Suggestion 2 : Shibadip
Tyre Size = 150/60
Aspect Ratio (Overall) : 90mm
Total tyre height : (90X2)+(17X2.54X10) = 611.8mm

Suggestion based on tyre size research
Tyre Size = 140/60
Aspect Ratio (Overall) : 84mm
Total tyre height : (84X2)+(17X2.54X10) = 599.8mm

Based on the above factual calculations my question is that does it not seem that the 140/60 is the more beneficial size for lowering the height of the bike (-1.4cms) ? Please advise on this and also on the handling bit. Guys I am sorry for this barrage of questions but any help would be appreciated.

Hi All,

What is the highest mileage done on pulsar 200ns in this forum without requiring engine rebuild?
What is the least mileage that required an engine rebuild?

Are the pulsar200 engines a hit or miss like bajaj discover that require engine rebuild at meagre 20000 kms despite good maintenance?

Hello all,
My first post here on this thread, and on Xbhp.
I've always been a car enthusiast till I bought an NS in June last year. Since then, my priorities have changed and I've become more two wheels than four. I think there's a thrill that you just can't feel cocooned in a car.

Till date, i've read almost posts on the thread, but today, i'm going to make my own.

My NS is about 8000kms old, and I maintain it really well. It runs on Motul, and used to be service only at Auto Service, Bangalore, till I moved with it to Delhi. A month before shifting here, I had a tiny fall immediately after a long ride to Chennai. Since then, despite a proper service, I find myself underconfident while riding. I'm trying to provide details here so that you guys can guide me and help.

In the last 500 kms or so, I feel that the bike isn't as stable as I used to be. I also know that the Eurogrips are terrible tyres, but surely, performance cannot deteriorate so drastically in 500kms. I feel the front shocks compress a little more than they used to when I brake, and I feel the rear to be a little less grounded than earlier. I find the front at times has a wobble, and I don't feel as confident on it as I used to earlier. The front fork nut is fine, and otherwise, the suspension seems ok. A mechanic at Bajaj said to me that the shockers need a change, but I find that surprising at 8k.

Looking forward to your expert opinions, and I hope to be a regular contributor here.

Cheers

Hi friends.
I found a website with tyre size calculator that gives us a side by side comparison of tyre sizes in mm, percentile, speedo difference etc. You can input the tyre sizes of your choice and get the results. Check it out. I'm sure it will provide a very good insight. Hope this helps.

140/60-R17 tires are 0.55 inches (14 mm) smaller in diameter than 130/70-R17 tires and the speedometer difference is 2.3%

Accidents don't end up putting humans to trouble, but also the motorcycle too. Sometimes they can be recovered and sometimes, they just can't. In such cases, the problem keeps coming like a storm one after another post ceasing one. Anyway

Did you check the following?.
1. Alloy wheel alignment
2. Alloy damage or bent or deformation?
3. Improper tire pressure?
4. Tires good without any damage?.
5. Asked another friend of yours to confirm that this is a wobbling or swaying?
6. Squeeze hard front braking and listen for any click thud sound?.
7. Able to turn left or right the handle bar with almost flat smoothness?
8. Check Fork oil, fork seal damaged?

From your symptoms, I guess either the stem bearings could've damaged, or the forks kind of twisted(i think this needs a replacement). Replacing the setup can help you solve the problem, but does the whole setup require replacement is my question. If your front goes way beyond normal limits (also rear wheel lacks grip), then either the fork spring or fork oil could be the one. If loss of oil happened during impact due to seal breaking up, this can happen. Did you by any chance observe that?.

Nope. But looks like there is an air pressure lock.
7. Able to turn left or right the handle bar with almost flat smoothness?
Yup!
8. Check Fork oil, fork seal damaged?
No leaks.

Like I said earlier, it was barely an accident. The bike fell at the last stage, since I let it fall knowing I was beyond recovery. How do you check stem bearings? If I hit the front brake hard, I can hear a minute squeak from the front.

I meant the wheel alignment (sorry to mention about alloy alignment). does the wheel rotate properly?. If alloy wheel is not misaligned then I think this should also be okay. All your problems seem with the fork rod and the spring setup. I can only think about the front fork setup going kaput, can't get exactly into the problem, sorry .

But an overhaul of the setup could solve the problem. But you know some svc are really lazy (Even mobile or Laptop svc too) and they might want to cut short the working time, hence replace the complete setup rather fixing small issues inside the setup. I don't have experience in that area anyway.

Anyway I'm not sure about the price, no idea. But 8K seems high, did you check with other svcs?. Because when my friend's motorbike engine got ceased, one authorized SVC quoted him Rs.8000/-, but he did the same for Rs. 3500/- in a local workshop. So it's always wise to check with couple of svcs..

Do you hear a "thud" or "kat-kat" sound when the front forks compress upon hard braking and when you glide over potholes?
If that is the case, then your cone set needs replacement.
The front forks can be adjusted too, recently I was facing this same problem of front forks bouncing a bit more upon going over potholes and a mechanic just adjusted the forks and now its good.

Since you are in Delhi, I would like to refer you a good mechanic. Get your bike checked by a mechanic named Bhavneet at KTM service centre, Kirti Nagar. (They also service NS there)

Hi JBM. Yup. Wheel rotates fine. I was confused when you said alloy allignment

by 8k, I meant, 8000kms, not Rs. 8000. Sorry, I didn't realise this could cause any confusion. On your suggestion, I re checked the seals and everything seems fine. No oil leakage anywhere. The brakes are definitely not as good as they used to be, so the first thing i'm going to do tomorrow is to get them bled. Maybe i'm feeling nervous because of the braking. Will take it up again from there.
shrey1992 - No noise apart from a squeak on hard braking. Normal noise if I hit a pothole hard, but nothing normally. I don't quite know how to put it. The set up just doesn't feel tight. In car terms, it feels like a Hyundai, when it should feel like a FIAT

I reached to the SVC in Gurgaon {Krishna Bajaj sector 14} and asked them to install the Duke's handld guards on my NS and they said that its impossible to install it unless the whole handle of NS would be replaced by Duke's...
